I contacted Mahana several months ago to hire Moana and possibly have some Polynesian dancers for a city special event and they were very good about booking and communicating. We paid the deposit immediately to secure the booking. There were some minor issues with communication between the assistant, but the owner took care of everything immediately once I contacted her instead. I knew that the owner works from out-of-state so I made sure to stay on top of the booking. As long as you stay in contact and on top of your booking, everything will be good. From the beginning, Mahana Dance Co was very friendly and professional over the phone and follow up. The day of (Sat Aug 24th) I received a phone call insuring the time and when they were arriving. I went with their "fire package". That was new to me but seeing some of the videos and photos on their Instagram, it caught my attention. The 3 gals started, Tiare, Aurora, Jazzy. All were great. Jazzy did the fire poi ball performance and rocked it! She's good or as a few friends said "mesmerizing! It was awesome to see them all incorporate fire with traditional dances of the islands. Costume were beautiful and not cheesy. Then comes Rico the Chief fire knife dancer. Holy smokes he was on it! He finished the performance with a bang. He had two fire knifes going at once. Everyone couldn't believe how fantastic these performers were. When the time comes again to have hula dancers perform again it will be hard to top that night and performance. Your response is unbelievable. I booked in May. Emailed your assistant for my booking invoice but did not receive it until late as you can see in the texts and emails. You emailed me saying your Moana was not available 3 days before the event. Your future customers need to know that you were canceling and not willing to do anything until I responded. As I said if you had called me personally to try to fix it, the outcome would have been better, but you didn't. For a mistake on your companies part, I would have more respect if you would admit your mistake instead of trying to lie about it . I have been with Mahana Polynesian Entertainment for about three or four years as both a student and performer. My experience with this group has been absolutely priceless. It is truly and honor to have performed at so many different types of celebrations with people. I have seen firsthand the joy that Mahana bring to birthday parties, weddings, corporate events, quinceaneras, retirement parties, nursing homes and retirement home luaus. Each time it never ceases to amaze me that people are so happy when we perform. It is the smiles that make every moment worth it!! Sharing the Polynesian culture was always important to myself and my family and I truly get to do that through Mahana. As a student, I have gained so many friendships and cherished relationships with other dancers. I can honestly say that many of my closest relationships have come from the camaraderie that is shared amongst the dancers. It's truly a sisterhood like no other. Mahana Dance Company was hired to help celebrate a luau Mother's Day Event for young mothers and pregnant woman living at a safe haven. The dancers were absolutely fabulous. Their dancers took the women to various islands through their dances and costumes, explaining the hula moves and use of percussion instruments. The women were invited to learn how to hula and participate in the performance and had a chance to have their photos taken with the dancers.
