The lobby was small but still had a decent sized concession area. The popcorn smelled fresh and had I not just eaten, I probably would have gotten some! I made my way to my theater and found the seats to be fairly comfortable. I love how they recline! The theater was also very clean, so the staff does a great job with this! No stickiness or leftover food was found on my seat! The theater had both good picture and sound quality. I didn't see anything premium that needed enhancements, though. Parking was easy when I got there in their giant and free lot, located in the mall. When I left in the evening, the lot had filled up, but there were still some spots available. The view of the marina just steps away is gorgeous and there are also some restaurants and shops and even a gym here to enjoy before or after a film! I love the convenience of this AMC and would return again the next time I'm in the area!

We love watching 4DX movies here. We watched the Odyssey and Spider-Man Brand New Day this week in 4DX and we had a blast; we also watched Hadestown in a regular screening theater (three movies in 1 week, that's how much we love this place!). The week prior, we also watched The Odyssey in IMAX, and you can definitely hear and see the difference compared to the 4DX screen. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is how long concessions take! There have been numerous occasions where the line takes a lot longer than we would like and we are scared we are going to miss the beginning of the movies, BUT Regal does a great job and plays super long intro credits so we were only ever late to the beginning of Obsession. I wish they could have runners at the concessions with the cashiers to help move things along quicker, OR even open a second concessions area to split the crowd a bit. The long lines and fear of being late have happened every time we go to the theater, we can be there 20-30 minutes before the movie starts and still wait that long or longer. It sucks but again, they play ads and trailers for long enough that it's only caused us to miss the beginning part of a movie once. Aside from this, parking in the area is a bit chaotic and weird. Not a good theater to run late to when you're going there for the first time, but you'll have fun!

Extremely disappointing experience at Starlight Lakewood Center, particularly because of how the…read moresituation was handled by House Manager Jaelyn. My friend and I had tickets for the 9:20 PM showing of Ice Cream Man. Our tickets directed us to Theatre 11. When we arrived around 9:30 PM, there was no movie playing. We found an employee who helped us and determined that our movie was actually playing in Theatre 7, so we missed part of the movie because we had been directed to the wrong auditorium. I want to be clear that this employee was helpful and was not the problem. He told us to go to Guest Services after the movie so the theater could address the mistake and provide a refund or replacement tickets. We did exactly that. At approximately 10:45 PM, we went to Guest Services. A female Starlight employee was standing behind the Guest Services counter using her phone. My friend politely asked if she could help us. She rudely said no. We then asked if she could at least let someone know that customers were waiting for assistance, and she again rudely refused. We later learned from House Manager Jaelyn that this employee was apparently off the clock. We had absolutely no way of knowing that. She was a Starlight employee standing behind the Guest Services counter. Had she simply said, "I'm off the clock, but I can get someone to help you," there likely would have been no issue at all. What turned a frustrating but easily fixable situation into the reason we will not return was Jaelyn's response as the manager on duty. Rather than first asking what had happened, hearing both sides, or attempting to resolve the original problem, Jaelyn escalated the situation and repeatedly focused on having me escorted from the theater. We tried to explain that we were only at Guest Services because Starlight had sent us to the wrong auditorium and their own employee had specifically instructed us to return after the movie for assistance. When I asked Jaelyn whether the incident and our complaint would be documented, I could not get a meaningful answer. I eventually asked for the contact information of a manager above her. She provided a handwritten name and email address for Tricia M. To make matters worse, when I attempted to send my formal complaint to the email address we were provided, the email was returned as undeliverable because the address provided to us was invalid. Mistakes happen. Being sent to the wrong auditorium could have been resolved with an apology and basic customer service. Even the interaction with the employee behind the counter could have been de-escalated quickly. Instead, the house manager escalated the situation rather than resolving it. I have since submitted a formal complaint through Starlight Cinemas' corporate channels and requested management review the incident. We will not be returning to this location. The original theater mistake was frustrating, but the way House Manager Jaelyn handled the situation is ultimately why Starlight Lakewood lost us as customers.

And they declared it a sing along. You could hear sod singing during the songs, which was good since it didn't drown out the actual songs. My one complaint is that they need a better sound system. The DJ who played ahead of the movies had a much better sound system. It was hard to hear at first and then got slightly better. But such great songs need to be played at full volume. A historical landmark, close & free to visit…read more Originally part of the ancestral village of Povuun'nga, the traditional place of origin of the native Gabrielino-Tongva people of the Los Angeles Basin, named Rancho Los Alamitos when the land was conceded to Manuel Nieto, and finally to Fred & Florence Bixby, whose children donated the family ranch to the City of Long Beach in 1968. To enter, visitors proceed to the Bixby Hill residential security gate at the intersection of East Anaheim Road and Palo Verde Avenue. Entrance is strictly at 1pm, as the guard will not allow entrance prior to that. Operating hours are 1pm - 5pm Wed - Sun. Initial visit, the barn area w/ the livestock was closed off due to a water main break. Tours of the Adobe Ranch is via a docent-led tour, which can be made at the Rancho Center. No photography is permitted. Tom was the docent, and he was quite knowledgeable of the history of Rancho Los Alamitos, allowing passage into each room on the first floor. Second floor was closed to visitors. My favorite room was the kitchen, as I marveled at the various appliances, such as the still operational refrigerator, with the condenser on top, instead of bottom. Also, the heavy, built to last stove, which probably served a countless number of meals for the family & staff working the ranch. There were a few objects which were available to touch, such as an early proto version of a View-Master. The cherry on top of the Adobe Ranch visit was pulling the rope attached to the dinner bell, signifying everyone to "come & get it!". The handsome, well-maintained garden landscape surrounding the property provides natural beauty & plenty of photo opportunities. Second visit was more fun, as the barn & livestock areas were open to the public, again! Preston, a magnificent Shire horse, towers over almost all visitors, and stuns with his majestic beauty. In the world record books, a Shire horse named Sampson is the largest recorded horse ever, at 7' 2.5" tall & 3,360 lbs. Not to be outdone, Fred the donkey bombastically greets people with his hee-haws. A few rescue horses, sheep & a coop full of chickens provided plenty of enjoyment. A pleasurable afternoon can be had at Rancho Los Alamitos. Visitors gaze back in time upon a working ranch, experience how things were built to stand the test of time, opposed to planned obsolescence of most machinery & appliances, today. Visiting Preston, Fred & the other animals, alone, is worth the drive. I look forward to coming back & I highly recommend giving Rancho Los Alamitos a visit.

Once you're in, it opens up into this ranch beautiful historic space that feels worlds away from the city. The grounds are stunning. There are lush gardens, a tennis court, and even livestock--horses and chickens--which add so much charm. The ranch sits up on a hill, and it's the perfect place to just relax, sunbathe, or wander and take everything in. One of my favorite spots is the massive tree in the front yard, with its roots stretching out--it's incredibly impressive and peaceful to sit near. What makes it even more special is that it's free, which honestly feels unbelievable given how well-maintained and meaningful the space is. There's also a deep sense of history here, especially tied to the Bixby family and the legacy of the women who helped shape it, which adds another layer of appreciation when you visit. Part of me almost wants to keep it a secret because it feels so personal and serene--but it truly deserves all the praise. I feel lucky to have a place like this right in our backyard
