I'm so glad I was referred to Mahmee. As a first time mom, I too had concerns about my incoming milk supply. I called, made an appointment with the kind staff, and was linked up initially to Arden, one of their lactation consultants. I opted to come into their Cahuenga office late one week and I found it surprising that it's hidden away next door to my usual salon. Their offices are a stones throw from Universal Studios/City Walk, so the drive over has been nice as I'm also in the valley. Stepping into their private office already made me feel secure and welcome. They setup a room tucked away within a walk-in area, that included a rocking chair, a comfy couch for companions, and working space for the consultants to do weigh-ins for baby. Arden was very sweet, caring, and an absolute professional when it came to understanding my needs. She even did a follow up at my home for a latch check the following week! Due to her scheduling, I was asked to come back and see one of their founders, Linda, for a follow up appointment. And Linda too was a seasoned pro. She immediately pivoted to try different techniques during my second appointment, including supplemental latching, and proceeded to create a precise schedule fitted to my preferences. Both appointments, my consultants asked if they could follow up again to see how things were going. I do appreciate their expertise, utmost care, and generous knowledge to help me on my breastfeeding journey! I gave birth at the beginning of the month and had some difficulty getting baby to latch. My pediatrician put in a lactation consult for me but everywhere was booked until the end of the month. Breast feeding was something I really wanted to do so my husband and I decided to make the investment and have someone come help. I saw the amazing reviews for Mahmee so I gave them a call, they were booked but they gave me the number to Linda Hannah. She was an absolute lifesaver, angel, miracle! She managers to squeeze me in 2 days later and came to the house. Within 5 minutes baby was latching! She gave us a lot of good info and even told us she was available by phone call/FaceTime if any difficulties came up and would even come back without additional cost if needed. Terrible service, canceled our doula last minute just before delivery. When we try to communicate to understand what's going on they give generic responses and don't take any responsibility or provide reassurance that they'll solve this - we don't have a doula at this point. I'm shocked at how bad they are treating expecting parents!! We should be focusing on our newborn (arriving any day now) and the approaching delivery and instead we have to deal with all this stress and frustration just before birth. STAY AWAY! We had chosen to use Mahmee because we had it through our insurance and things started out great with online classes and we were assigned a doula this May that we liked right away as well! However, things started going south pretty quickly, we were told at the beginning that we could have a certain amount of pre and post-partum visits, but then after several months this amount they were telling us kept decreasing. We were also getting mixed messages - one person told us that our doula couldn't see us post-partum and they were trying to assign us a specific post-partum doula, but someone else told us that they don't do just post-partum doulas. Now it is October and the due date is in 2 weeks, we were scheduled to see our doula this week for the last meeting before labor and they wrote us a message one hour before the appointment that it was cancelled and that we no longer have a doula! This is incredibly disrespectful and leaves us hanging with an almost 0% chance to find a doula to be with us in the hospital when it was something that we had been counting on as it is our first pregnancy. All I can say is that if you're counting on having a doula, DO NOT choose Mahmee, they don't care about you! read more

The customer service at this business is phenomenal. I struggled very hard during my breastfeeding journey (and still am! baby recently needed a frenectomy), and I saw SIX lactation consultants before we got my baby to latch when she was six weeks old. I had an appointment with Citlalli Martinez and she was the only LC out of SIX (I saw two in the hospital and paid for two private LCs) who got my baby to drink directly from my breast without a nipple shield. I had seen one other LC at the office and didn't have a good experience in the office but thought that it was because my baby was fussy and I was in so much pain after my delivery. We had a home visit and I was still disappointed in my interactions with the LC. However, all I did was reach out to customer service and explained how I felt and they refunded me for the service immediately. I was SHOCKED! I wasn't expecting that. Because of that, I know this business truly cares about its customers and only wants what's best for them. My baby had a posterior tongue tie and needed a frenectomy last week and I am seeing a feeding specialist so she can learn how to use her oro-facial muscles in a way that promotes more efficient milk transfer. If I need an LC again, I will definitely be using this company. read more

These ladies are miracle workers. First, Linda came to our house to test our baby's jaundice the day after we got home from the hospital. It was such an efficient and affordable service. She also threw in some quick breastfeeding guidance which was immediately helpful, more than any of the lactation consultants at the hospital. But I had a lot of nipple damage and after a difficult pregnancy I didn't feel like I had it in me to tough out more toe curling pain. I was dreading every feed, so we scheduled a full breastfeeding appointment with Jennifer. She was unbelievably patient, kind and knowledgeable in our lengthy hour+ appointment. We implemented what she taught us, which was great, but some of my pain wasn't resolving itself, so Linda followed up with me multiple times to help me figure it out. And guess what. I did. Things healed up and now at 7 weeks postpartum I'm about 95% pain free and my baby is feeding up a storm. I think I'll be at 100% within a week or so. I honestly probably would've given up without their help and I'm so glad I didn't. I feel like an old pro now. Don't hesitate to go to these wonderful women, sooner rather than later!! read more

Our pediatrician recommended them because our son needed Bilirubin light therapy for his high jaundice level. They came over, set up the light bed and offered an incredible amount of support. My initial appointment with My Nursing Coach at my pediatrician's office was amazing and so helpful. Our coach helped us fix some painful latch issues. However when I later went to schedule a follow-up appointment, they were very rude and disorganized. They are not covered by insurance for follow-up, and it isn't cheap, so you'd think they'd at least be patient and kind with new mothers. The lack of clarity in their scheduling process, the rude attitude that followed, and the stress this caused made me decide to find another lactation consultant elsewhere. I really hoped they'd be worth the out-of-pocket for a follow-up because it would have been convenient to stick with them, especially as they started out great in our first visit, but unfortunately they were not. Re: Their reply below, I think it's very inappropriate to air a step by step review of the interaction with a client, but here they are. They forgot to note the rudeness I received via text, the lack of ever noting that I actually was receiving an appointment (it was always a "maybe if there's time, we will let you know the night before if we are available", and never even a general time), I was reprimanded for replying to a text I got because it was from a "personal phone" (why text from a personal phone if you don't want a reply? How would your clients know this is a personal phone? Why use it if it's not a form of connecting you're open to?). I did speak to your representative, Kelly, on the phone and she was very ambiguous and noncommittal on when we may be able to meet - I do work, as do many mom's, and have other commitments, so a general timeline is quite helpful. I received a call and a text to "confirm an appointment" and was given attitude for not understanding what I was confirming since a time was never discussed or left in any message. I do have a newborn (obviously), and as the primary caregiver, am not always available to pick up the phone on a whim. As a brand new first time mom I thought all the online classes, books and videos would prepare me for breastfeeding and that because it came naturally to my mom it would be easy for me too. Well, that was not the case. My poor nipples suffered so much that first few days because my daughter couldn't latch properly. I was NOT happy with Lisa. I liked that she looked at my overall well being... BUT she told me to stop nursing for a week and to just pump. Worst idea ever, because I never was able to nurse again. I was just getting the hang up nursing and it was getting better. Instead she had me pump, pump like crazy. Terrible advice and I ended up having to stop because it was too much pumping and did formula. Then when I tried to wean off I called for help and left 3 messages before she got back to me. Had the best experience!!! They came highly recommended by my sons doctor. Meghan was amazing!!!! She really helped me by showing me the best techniques to breastfeed my son. He lost a lot of his birth weight so I was very worried. She made me feel so much better knowing I was doing a good job and he wasn't starving.
