As a devoted animal lover and supporter, it was very important to me to find a company that would address the issue humanely and not harm the animals. That's when I found Critter Removal Indianapolis. From my very first contact, they were professional, personable, and extremely thorough in explaining their services and pricing. I immediately hired them and I can honestly say they have to be one of the best in the city. Throughout the entire process, they quietly monitored the situation and kept me updated in a timely and reassuring manner. Their approach is thoughtful and humane, which meant everything to me. Upon completion, they honored my request to text me when the work was done and to let me know the invoice had been emailed (I get so much spam and didn't want to miss it!). They're undeniably popular and their reviews obviously speak for themselves. I suppose that's part of what makes my experience worth noting. I called Critter Removal Indianapolis due to a squirrel in my home that I'd been unable to address myself or with assistance. I called Critter Removal Indianapolis on a Wednesday and made arrangements the next day for one of their employees to come by the house the next day at noon. While I hate having to miss work, this squirrel had become a major nuisance. The appointment was scheduled for noon - I was sent a link to be able to track my appointment (a cool touch, though also a bit alarming as the time changes and my appointment ended up happening around 1:30pm). I'd e-mailed them through their website and had gotten a response pretty quickly with a general idea of pricing. That went well. Once the employee arrived, he explained the process - essentially photographing trouble spots, developing a plan, submitting the paperwork to the office, getting an estimate, and then agreeing in writing to the estimate. I hadn't been aware there was sort of a pre-step, somewhat disappointing, but I remained hopeful. I made it clear to the employee that the squirrel was actually in my home - not a crawl space, basement, or attic. It was actually in my living space. It was actually in my living space when he came out. As he was taking photographs, the squirrel was walking across my kitchen counter. Seriously. The estimate came and I agreed quickly after a review of it. It was actually lower than the original price range. I was told they could be out the next morning and that I would not need to be home. I had every hope that they'd arrive on Friday and get the critter quickly. However, when I got home it was clear that hadn't happened. There had been no signs of actual arrival (and no contact). Over the weekend, things got worse and ultimately a friend ended up calling what she thought was the company to basically say "Why are you not out there?" Let's be honest. It was a legit question. She actually had called a different company that came within the hour. Within a half hour or so, the squirrel was caught and removed. And yes, it was in my kitchen when caught. To Critter Removal's credit (Hannah specifically), they were perfectly polite and gracious when I e-mailed them Sunday and said the squirrel had been caught and explained the situation. I canceled my appointment. So, here we go. Great initial inquiry. Friendly people and very thorough. However, I can't help but feel like policy came before people here. While all critter issues are important, a critter in a living space is sort of an elevated concern both because of safety and potential biohazard due to waste. As a wheelchair user, I was at even greater risk of potential infection. There was a lot of good here. I don't want to dismiss that. But, if we're being honest, given the circumstances it's pretty inexcusable that after being told on Wednesday a critter was in the house and after having been in my home the next day, I should have had help well before Sunday afternoon when the issue finally got resolved. While I might consider calling Critter Removal again for more preventative measures (I did like some of their plans), if I were in a crisis? I would have to look elsewhere.

This morning my long-time tenants let me know that an exterior bird nest infestation in the eaves had finally become too much for them and the structural integrity of the roofline. Not living anywhere near, I immediately went to Yelp for help. Not only was Code Green Pest Solutions the only company with 5 star reviews, he was the first to respond to my quote inquiry. Travis was amazing. His price was more than fair, he talked with me directly the entire time from start to finish (and he spent a couple of hours there longer than anticipated), and sent me both before and after pictures of his work. He also tried to close-up the holes as best he was able to. Added bonus: the multiple nests caused exterior damage. Travis graciously chatted with me about it and sent me the name of someone he trusts to give us a good quote and do quality work. Considering the age and history of my house, I will absolutely keep him in mind for future pest control work and/or eradication that needs to be done.

What bothered us most was how quickly the conversation shifted from solving the rodent problem to selling an extremely expensive attic package. The proposal leaned heavily on fear-based language about contamination, bacteria, and long-term damage, but there was very little actual evidence provided to justify a complete attic overhaul at that price. The original service report mainly referenced mouse droppings, bait stations, and recommendations to seal gaps around the home -- not catastrophic damage requiring a $21,000 renovation package. We expected a straightforward pest control inspection focused on identifying entry points, sealing the home, and addressing the mice problem. Instead, it felt more like a high-pressure home restoration sales pitch with financing options immediately offered. Before signing anything with Orkin Indianapolis, I strongly recommend getting multiple opinions from local exterminators and attic specialists. Based on our experience, there are likely far more transparent and reasonably priced solutions available.

As they did the remediation, they explained things step by step, and even though it was miserably hot I never heard one complaint. Between the heat and the old part of the crawlspace the job took longer than anticipated, but they never cut corners or rushed to get done - in fact, they had to come back the next day to finish because they wanted to make sure it was done properly. He did a thorough walkthrough with us by phone and clued us in on foundation cracks and moisture (potentially mold) issues that we would have otherwise been unaware of. He also provided high resolution images that helped us to see what was going on that the seller or contractors did not tell us about. Although we lost our earnest money deposit--as apparently Indiana law does not currently require sellers to be honest in their disclosures, we learned a big lesson and saved ourselves the headache of buying a house that was more of a lemon than we bargained for. Our daughter came from her room two nights before Halloween and told us there was a wasp in it. I went and dispatched the wasp. The next night, she came out again and said there was another wasp. When I went to kill it, there were actually two. I thought it odd, but not too odd that I was concerned. On Halloween, I went into her room about 5:30 and there were about ten wasps in there. Not good. That night, she slept in her little brother's room on an extra bed he has. The next day after work I checked her room again and there were at least forty wasps in there. The next day, I called Mahogany Flats and spoke with Dan. He has five out of five stars on Yelp and all the reviews are glowing. Dan and his assistant came out and first sprayed the nest with liquid spray. He was a little concerned about the lack of wasp freaking outiness, so he hit them with the powder. The queen fell out and his assistant smushed it. Our daughter was thrilled to have her room back (a few days later to make sure there were not anymore buzzing around) and so were we. Dan (and his assistant, and I am sorry that I cannot remember your name, assistant) is a pleasurable human being and his prices were very good. I did a lot of searching for pest control, and heard nothing but horrible reviews about most of the businesses in my area. I just moved into an old house, that has massive centipedes, ants in the kitchen, and spiders in the ceiling. So, when I made the call to Mahogany Flats, I was skeptical about how this service was going to go...I expected him to be late, rude, and to tell me there was little he could do about the bugs. NONE of those things happened. He showed up on time, called before he came, greeted me with a smile and was extremely polite and professional. The price was very fair...350 dollars for a year of service, unlimited visits. I anticipated this to cost me over 1000.00. He explained everything to me instead of waiting for me to ask questions...which I really appreciated because I know nothing on the subject. I would recommend this guy to anyone!!!
