Then I tried Uber and have found Uber to vary greatly with drivers and vehicles, pricing is high with many add on fees. I waited at the door of my home starting around 2:05PM. At 2:25PM I called to ask if the cab was on it's way. The dispatcher told me that the driver had waited outside my home for 10 minutes and left! He accused me of making up that I was waiting in the front of my home with a clear view of the street and my driveway. The dispatcher was unaware of the difference between Miller Ave and Miller Road (FedEx confuses these addresses all the time), and refused to concede that the driver may have made an error (rather than that I was a liar). I have to assume the driver was at the wrong address. They refused to send a cab to get me. (I called Carmel Taxi and they were there in 10 minutes, polite, one heck of difference.) Their communication and service was outstanding during the entire process, from the initial quote, additional questions I had along the way, to confirmation of the pickup, driver information and meeting place. My driver Nestor was terrific, especially considering the Friday evening traffic getting out of the city. I would not hesitate to use them again next time I'm in the NYC area.
