When I had my kichen and bathroom remodeled a couple years ago, I purchased cabinets from Aisen Cabinetry - the options seemed more plentiful than a couple other places I went to, and the prices were reasonable. The old adage "you get what you pay for" is definitely true in this case. Don't get me wrong, the cabinets LOOK nice enough; however, about 6 months afterwards, all of the cabinet doors either developed huge cracks or the wood expanded from the seams. I called the company to report this issue. The ower's wife, Mrs. Tan, actually acknowledged that they had already received several complaints about this problem, and that as soon as she could sort out her husband's schedule, she would call me back to arrange an appointment for Mr. Min GeTan (the owner whom I dealt with throughout the purchase process) to come by to take a look and replace them as needed. Great, I thought. Needless to say, the call never came. I phoned back a couple weeks later and got the run-around and was told that they were awaiting a new shipment to arrive from China before they would be able to replace the existing set of cabinets that were sold. Over the past year I've called no fewer than six times in attempts to arrange an appointment with Mr. Tan and have gotten the brush-off each time with the same excuse of "we're still waiting for the shipment to arrive from China." This must be the slowest cargo ship on earth. As if it's not enough to sell substandard quality products, the craftsmanship is equally shoddy. One of my kitchen drawers sits unevenly as a result of misaligned drilled holes. I'm not going to hold my breath on them ever returning my calls, much less coming by to inspect the horrendous quality of their cabinets and drawers. It's a terrible thing to feel cheated and taken advantage of, and each day when I walk into my kitchen and bathroom, I'm reminded of that. I've learned my lesson for sure. When (not if) I replace my cabinetry in the near future, I will know to: 1) Ask where the products originate. Had I known they were manufactured in China, I would have walked away. 2) Not buy from untrustworthy people. I should've seen the signs along the way, but I was green at the whole remodeling thing, and I blame myself for that. Save yourself the headache and heartache and learn from my mistakes. Run far far away from Aisen Cabinetry. Utterly disappointing in every way.

My Project Designer (and early project facilitator), Malaika, has a strong sense of style and was able to guide my selections of cabinets, flooring, and accents. She guided me through choices that were in my financial comfort zone. The new extended and widened kitchen peninsula is my dream pasta making counter; the subtle, gray-veined quartz countertops take the design to another higher level. Malaika helped me choose a floor covering that is perfect for my sunny and large multi-room kitchen space. The project management under Dean and Jason really confirmed my belief that NK&B is a reliable, competent, and timely working organization. My circumstances were such that I couldn't be at home for most of the construction, and yet through phone and texts, I was able to stay abreast of the construction. They were terrific at keeping me informed of the ongoing status of the project. Project management selected competent sub-contractors where necessary. I am very satisfied with the cost and quality of the entire project. It helps to have a good understanding of desired outcomes and likely outlays. NK&B Project Estimator, Dave, did not low-ball the work estimate. He was thorough in his assessment of the needed work. The final walk-through punch list was completed efficiently and with great accommodation. When I returned to Boston after my extended family leave, it was like walking into a new place! I've lived here for thirty years but my "retirement nest" couldn't be more beautiful. NK&B is the real deal! They might not be the biggest in Boston, but trust me, they are one of the best! With NK&B you get the benefit of working with a leading Boston Regional company without the feel of a huge national chain. Thank you, NK&B team for your work and dedication.
