I'm having a hard time giving this review. I want to give 2 stars because I left feeling disappointed and I doubt I will return but that feels unfair because so many aspects of my meal were quite good. First, the staff were friendly and the service was great. Second, the restaurant was clean and food was plated beautifully. That brings me to the food. Everything was cooked to the perfect temperature and texture and looked amazing. Smelled amazing. The taste however was flat. I ordered my meal medium for spice and it was not spicy at all. The garlic sauce was very thin and overall just not flavorful. No bright herbal notes, no deep umami flavors, not even much of a garlic presence. Just perfectly cooked, bland chicken and veggies. I had the same issue with my satay. The chicken was perfectly grilled and juicy but without the sauces it had zero flavor. The sauces however saved my meal. The sauces get 5 stars. The peanut sauce was sweet and salty and perfect. The cucumber did was bright and flavorful. The chilli dip that came with the spring roll was also great. The spring roll was also very good. Perhaps some of the other dishes offer up a bit more flavor and seasoning but I doubt I will be back. When I want Thai food I'm expecting bright vibrant and spicy flavors but my overall meal was just sort of bland. Ate here with friends last night. This isn't the first time and the food never disappoints. We had three different dishes and no one had any complaints. The portions are very large. I had pad Thai and I took home enough for another dinner. The only word of caution that I have is that they are serious about their spice level. If in doubt cut back. The fried foods (spring rolls and dumplings) and not greasy, but light and crispy. The curry has a mild heat even when you order no spice, so just keep that in mind. Can to try mai thai after 2 people had mentioned it to make like 2 weeks apart. Went on a Thursday around 6 or 630 and they were not super busy. It was a bit hot inside they do have ceiling fans. The server was nice and our food came out pretty quickly. I loved my pad see ew with shrimp. This is usually my test if I like a Thai restaurant. I also got the massaman curry which wasn't bad but not quiet what I was expecting. It was definitely a very large portion that lasted me 2 or 3 meals with rice. Went here for lunchtime since it had been nearly a decade since we've been here and remember it being good. The inside was very authentic feeling for the theme of the restaurant and there was plenty of seating, for groups of all sizes. The menu was very expansive with options for any appetite, with the ability to get your meal prepared in a variety of ways with various meat options. We got the butterfly shrimp as an appetizer but it was more of a shrimp rolled up like spring roll which is not what butterfly shrimp means so that was disappointing but at least it tasted good with the sweet and sour sauce it came with. There was only one waitress for the whole place but she did great catering to each table and bringing out food and drinks in a timely manner. I got duck which was pretty good as it was prepared with pineapple and mushrooms and my wife got the lunch pad Thai with chicken. The food tasted great, though the portions between lunch and regular were not much different considering the price. I was surprised when my server told me she herself couldn't tolerate the spice level I ordered. My tofu and green beans were indeed robustly spicy. A bit heavy on oil so I left some of that on the plate. The vegetarian section of the menu was not huge, but to have found a proper Thai place that gives you that spicy, fruity, herbal mix of flavors was a success, particularly since it's hard to find any assurance of non-seafood dishes at Thai places. read more

The curry dish I ordered there at lunch was flavorful and made-to-order. The chicken was tender. The presentation of the dish was nice in their blue and white dinnerware. The restaurant was clean. Hmmm on an extended visit from Brooklyn, NY and I gotta say I never had Thai food quite like this. Service was great, Location is beautiful but the Food is... unique. Never saw Pad See Ew or Pad Kee Mao with sliced carrots, reg broccoli and celery. Normally it's Chinese Broccoli or Bok Choy. Texture was a little off too. Normally it's the extra wide rice noodles not the pad thai style ones. Spice was no where near spicy either. They have 4 levels, went with 2 on reccomendation, but I think the 4 is actually "reg" level. Hard to find Thai in Augusta so guess it's good to satisfy a quick craving but not great for a return visit. read more

The place recently got new management and their food & service is to die for. I literally think about going back to this restaurant every week. I've tried their E1, drunken noodles, and curry. All dishes are so flavorful. I finish every plate and keep wanting more. I have yet to have their lunch menu as I am determined to try everything on their menu. Their service is also so great even though there's only one waitress every time I go here. They also play really good music that's not too loud. So I think I've reviewed Mai Thai before, but in case I didn't I'll add some quick notes here. I really enjoy this place, they give military discount, and they also give an early bird special if you come within the first hour of dinner service I believe. I think their food is pretty good, I always get the regular Pad Thai minus meat and eggs, add pineapple. I love their Pad Thai, and before I went vegan I also loved their potstickers. Now I get their spring rolls instead, which are indeed fried, but they are tasty! The girl that waits tables there sometimes (not sure of her name) if super sweet and she remembers my order! Got the order and there was literally less than half of the small plastic soup container filled with soup and only three pieces of chicken. She advised me if I order the curry to remind the staff that vegan also means no dairy milk. I was reluctant to try Mai Thai due to the negative reviews, but we tried it for 2 reasons. Most of the negative reviews were only one sentence and vague. The owners also own sweet Moments Cafe, which has delicious food. We ordered 4 dishes-and 2 appetizers. It was all excellent. The service was ok. They are training a new server, and have a help wanted sign in the window. I got the number 9 lunch special, shrimp with chili oil with veggies. I come here when I'm desperate for Thai food and can't do the hour long drive to get decent Thai food elsewhere. It's definitely somewhere between a 2-3 star rated place but the service is always on par with a 5 star restaurant so I can't complain there.
