My husband and I just moved to the area, and we needed a deep "move-in" cleaning of the house since it was vacant for a month prior to us moving in. We wanted to support a smaller, local business, so we chose Maid to Glow. I appreciated the easy booking process - I was able to select exactly what I wanted, and I was given a price so that there would be no surprises later on. That's basically where the good service ended.
I selected an arrival window for 10:00am to 12:00pm on a Saturday with the understanding that the cleaners could arrive and start anywhere in that window. 10:00am... no one showed up. 11:00am... no one showed up. 12:00pm... no one showed up. At this point I decided to call their main number since they were clearly past the two hour window I scheduled. When I called the number listed on their website, no one answered, and it went into some weird Google automated message. I called multiple times without any success, and I honestly started to wonder whether or not this company was even legit. 1:00pm... still no sign of anyone, no courtesy calls or anything. My husband and I had already wasted the day waiting around, so we decided to go out to grab lunch and run errands. At 1:25pm, as we were ready to walk out the door, I received a text message from Toni saying that she was running behind and would be there shortly. Since we just moved in the night before and did not have any cleaning supplies yet, we really needed a professional service to clean for us, so we decided to go ahead and wait for Maid to Glow to show up. At 1:38pm she told me she would arrive in about 40 minutes. About 50 or so minutes later, she and another woman finally arrived.
When they walked in, they smelled like they had been smoking at some point earlier in the day. I don't know about you, but if I'm paying someone to clean my home, I don't want them smelling like cigarette smoke. The ladies also seemed unprepared for the job. The basically had a Swiffer and a couple of rags, and that was it. They didn't even have a vacuum, which was extremely disappointing, as the floors were our biggest concern because of how dirty and dusty it was. You would expect the home to start smelling like lemons or some sort of fresh, clean scent as they're cleaning, but that didn't happen. They pretty much just wet the floor and moved the Swiffer around. They asked to use our paper towels, our dust pan, and they also asked us for water bottles multiple times. We were not impressed at all. Our house did not look any cleaner.
That was a few weeks ago, and since then, we ended up investing in a Roomba vacuum, and it did a much better job. Sure, a Roomba is a little pricey, but it won't show up late, it won't smell like cigarettes, and it'll double check it's own work to make sure your floor is spotless before it goes home.
