Excellent experience at the store today! I came in to get some holes on my new Hermes dress belt...I am afraid to do it myself because the belt is so expensive! :( The lady at the front was so friendly and knowledgeable. She punched several holes (with different sizes and shapes yet quite similar to the holes on my Hermes belt) on a piece of leather for me to choose. This is because she doesn't have the tool to make exact holes. After all these troubles, FREE OF CHARGE!!! I couldn't believe it! According to her, she never charges to punch belt holes (even belts are not made by the store)! While I was there, I saw a huge collection of buckles, leather belts, knives, etc. they are so beautiful and quite affordable. I will definitely take my parents here when they visit the US. read more

Wish I had taken a before pic of my shoes, they were restored completly! I brought in a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes (suede black booties) that I had accidentally destroyed. I had little hope and thought they were ruined but was shocked to see how good of a job they did! Guys in the front were professional and nice. The store was super clean and easy to get to, right off of Westheimer. They gave me a 1 week turnaround time and held to it. Slight racial profiling done here. My husband and I are both minorities and don't really get into material things. We went into this place because my father in law would love stores like this, and we wanted to give him a belated fathers day present. Upon arrival, a man asked us if we needed help with anything, we said we were just looking. Keep in mind it was only this one employee where the others were actually finding something better to do. He continued to follow us around the store and when my husband asked about the money clips he began his patronising banter. My husband is Hispanic, and when we told him his dad would love this store he asked if he was "here". Obviously he wasn't asking if he was in the store. Amongst other little snips this employee took at our integrity I, highly annoyed, went over to look at these little brass statues of birds. I thought were cute and when I turned around this employee was nervously watching me, waiting for me to slip something into my bag. Honestly, we're nice people and we like to spend our money on things that we like. And we were hoping to find something for his dad, but with the uncomfortable environment displayed here, I think we'll look somewhere else. And to the man at the store who cared with all his heart, please leave racial profiling outside of your job where it's not affecting your commission. read more

I brought some various leather belts in to be re-sized recently. When I came in to drop off, they were unbelievably busy. People were milling about throughout the store grumbling about not being helped yet. There were 3 attendants working the counters and they were trying their best to get through the pile of folks and I took a number. Eventually, one of them got to me and took my measurements and let me know the belts would be ready in a week. A week later I got a call that they were ready and went and picked them up. The belts were re-sized well and the work seemed top notch. (belt pun) I think they cost me around $20 a belt. Considering these were extremely expensive belts, that price seemed to fit, especially considering the hand work they had to do. My experience was pretty straightforward and I would refer their service to others looking for skilled leather work in Houston. Just watch out for very popular hours of business when they seem to get bottle necked. read more

I don't get to Houston often and hardly ever to this area. I stumbled upon them last year and was blown away by the quality and craftmanship of their silver buckles and leather belts. I came to this part of town to stop in and buy a belt and buckle. Easily a $1500 combo. But, they were so rude and scolded me because one of the other customers had taken liberty to open their display case to check a price. They scolded me cause I was in the other guy vicinity. Then they ignored me when I selected a belt and buckle. I was fully prepared to spend over $1000. I won't come back. I hope they read this review and treat other customers nicer. read more

While we've used them for years, I've got serious issues with their organizational skills. The last two times I've taken belts in for re-sizing, I've had a problem. The first time, they took a Gucci belt to cut a couple of inches off of, promising it about a week later. When I called, Jason was very apologetic, telling me they had lost the leather, but he'd make me a new belt and put the original buckle on it. I got it within another week. This last time, I took another belt in to get a too-small belt replaced with a longer piece of leather. Jason promised me "two weeks." I called back three weeks later, and was told by Jay that it would be ready in one week. When I called on the appointed day, I was told that the belt was re-made as the original length (i.e., too short), but that Jason would "personally make it and have it ready the next day (Friday). Friday about 4:15 PM, I finally got the call saying it was ready. $108.25 and 4+ weeks after depositing it, I had my 35" reversible belt--finally! My wife took a belt there for repair once. Jason told her they could repair it, but after roughly six months, she finally went over to pick it up because they couldn't do anything with it. I had a couple holes punched in belts in the past and they seemed to do an acceptable job. I also took in a belt to have it resized and that came out ok. However, I took in a Louis Vuitton belt to have it shortened by an inch. The woman did all kinds of measurements, had me try on a sizing belt, compared the belt I was wearing to the one I wanted adjusted, etc. She mentioned cutting 2" off and I told her I wasn't comfortable with that and I want it to be 1". She explained how they adjust them and took more measurements and wrote more things down. I asked how much she is going to have removed after all the additional measurements and she said 2.5". I agreed that 1.5" would be as much as I would be comfortable with and explained how I can always return and pay $20 again to have more removed if I ever needed it, but they cannot add anything back if too much was cut. I also asked to have it done by a certain day (more than a week away) since I was leaving out of town. She agreed that she'd check with the people in back. I then called an hour later to ensure she was able to have it in the queue to be completed in that timeframe and she said she checked and it's no problem. When I showed up on that day, nothing was done yet. Since it was an easy adjustment, they took it to the back and the leather person agreed to do it right then. When I got it back, it seemed quite short. I asked for the piece that was removed and it was 2.5" long! I spent 45 minutes trying to find out how they went from 1.5" to 2.5", especially when I initially only wanted 1" removed. Anyway, to "make it right," they agreed to make me a new belt out of any leather they had. After I picked out the leather I liked and the worker wrote up the work order, the owner came out and said it had to be different leather. He mentioned that I was "killing him." I reiterated that they are the ones that misadjusted my very expensive LV belt and I didn't request a new one, it was his offer. He then walked away with his back to me and arms in the air yelling things I couldn't understand. When the belt was finished and I arrived to pick it up, the same worker was being extremely rude to me. She measured me with the new belt and asked if 3 holes were ok. I reluctantly agreed. It came out with three holes in it and I tried it on, but in the meantime, I looked around at their other belts in the store and the belt I was wearing and they all had 5 holes. I asked if they would put in the additional holes like any other belt would have. The worker gave a long, mean stare and walked away without saying a word. She came back with the belt with the added holes and I noticed the holes were not even in a straight line or evenly spaced!!! A few things I took away from this experience is that the customer is never right at this place, customer service is not of any interest to them, workmanship is hit or miss at best, you may not have it ready when you request, and the owner doesn't care about what the customer wants either. He tried to make it sound like it was all my fault that my belt was done wrong, my fault they are making me a new leather strap and when I tried to explain to him, he just talked louder and louder to shut me out (before walking off yelling). This place does not provide a professional or pleasant atmosphere in the slightest. I will certainly find somewhere else to go for any leather work in the future. I wish I didn't have to learn my lesson with a $625 LV belt though. read more

Jason the owner found a "comfort" ring that I never new existed, nor had any of other jewelry shops I have been to. When it arrived, the ring felt great but it was a little plain for my wife's taste. Thought I was stuck with a custom ring my wife was not crazy about, but another salesman, Browning, drew up a design for us, and sent it out for engraving for a very reasonable price and then antiqued for no charge when I came to pick it up. This place is like an adult candy store for cool, customized belts, buckles and other cool stuff like cuff links and turquoise, silver necklaces. It is THE best place in Houston to get this stuff. It is definitely high-end but you can get some stuff that is fairly affordable for the average person. The best thing is they can customize all kinds of belts, buckles, etc. I wanted to replicate an antique buckle my father-in-law had found years ago. Jason Maida worked personally with me to design the material, the trim and the turquoise stone for the buckle. Unfortunately, the buckle was going to be a birthday gift for my wife but it was during the busiest time of the year for Maida's. It came down to the last day and hour but they hand delivered the buckle to the restaurant where we were celebrating my wife's birthday. I have seen where another person felt ignored by the staff. I just can't understand that. I have been in there dozens of times and I'm always greeted and helped. There are times when the place gets packed -like any popular place- and it may take a few minutes for a staff person to break away. But in this case I've always been greeted and told "we'll be with you shortly" or "i have a few folks in front of you but I won't forget about you". I really do think they do a better job of doing "customer triage" than most retail places I've been to. Plus, Jason often takes personal attention to as many customers as he can. read more

Worse place to have your belt altered!!!! I Went there to have two oval holes put in an Argentina gaucho polo belt I brought back from Argentina. Instead of adding holes, they altered the belt buckle area.Needless to say the belt is ruined and does not fit a 34 waist. What's worse is the belt's patterned is now way off center. The employee tried to convince me that " it didn't look THAT bad". So sad that a leather belt business could make such an ignorant mistake. Then the employee even said to me that people shouldn't be bringing Argentina belts for them to alter because of possible complications. Are you kidding me???? NOTHING was wrong with the belt. Their mistake and they couldn't admit it. Sorry business!!! read more
