Tried dresses on here a couple months ago & unfortunately did not have a good experience. I got there about 15 minutes early for my appointment & didn't get helped until about 15 minutes after it was supposed to start. Not that big of a deal but when my stylist came out, she said no one told her I was there, which was irritating to hear after being early & then having to wait (while I was also on my own time schedule for other appointments). After explaining what I wanted and talking budget, I felt like I didn't get taken that seriously. I had a $1500 budget and when looking I would ask about prices and get a "it's in budget" or "it's well under"... like okay please say the price out loud so I know? They just weren't as transparent about their prices as other places were, so I stopped asking after a couple. I went to a place right before this & when I'd ask, there was no hesitation, just the exact cost. I never got an answer for cost while I was at Maiden Voyage. Maybe this was because of my budget, but I also felt like they had a literal fraction of the dresses other places had. Afterwards, my now MIL said she had about the same experience many years prior looking for her dress, which I wish I would've known because I wouldn't have made an appointment at all. I went to over 15 stores while I was trying to find "the one". I had read reviews about previous ownership but i can't say it's improved with the new owners. This was hands down my least favorite bridal store I visited in numerous different states. The lady that helped me needs to know her clientele a little better -She tried throwing a tiara on me and told me to just leave it when I wanted to take it off? Lady, I'm 33 years old and I am not wearing a tiara at my wedding....? She was also so obnoxious and honestly just had bad vibes altogether. 3.5 Stars, really mixed feelings about this place. I made an appt and was assigned Samantha for my bridal consultant. My budget is definitely on the low side ($1.1k) and she was super nice and never pressured me about it. Every dress she brought was under budget. I really appreciated this. I did find a dress but I was not 100% sure on it. I had another appt at a different place that afternoon so I didn't want to commit to it just yet. Samantha became super pushy and wanted me to purchase it that moment ("it could be gone tomorrow easily!"). I had to repeat several times I wanted time to think about it. She then said "I want you to call me by 5pm today with an update" and threatened to call me if I didn't! She really did mean well but it left a bad taste in my mouth and it was part of the reason I didn't come back and buy the dress. read more

I don't typically leave reviews, but this place was amazing. I loved everything about this place from the dresses to the staff and owner to the atmosphere. It was so laid back and fun at the same time. There was never any pressure to buy anything and Laura and the owner were so incredibly helpful and kind. I found my perfect dress at Maiden Voyage and the experience was so fun! I was with my mom, but they allowed time for me to video call my matron of honor for most of the dresses I tried on. They have very high-end and beautiful stuff but were also very sensitive to my budget. I called and asked if they had dresses in size 26 for me to try on and that I was needing a dress for a July 13th Masquerade ball. They told me yes. First of all there is no handicapped entrance. Just many stairs to get in. I have fibromyalgia and need double knee replacement. They did help me up the stairs. I was lead to one small rack that has not one dress in my size to try on. I was repeatedly told I could order a dress in my size. Who is going to pay $500 for a gown they can never try on and can't return. They DO NOT cater to plus size. I called to make appointment for bridesmaid dresses, they said I could just come on in. We came in and we were not greeted. After standing there for awhile they asked what we needed, bridesmaid dresses. They said to look over on this side of the store. I had a specific color in mind and wanted to know which designer will match, what seemed like an owner told me that all of the designers will match and started showing me the colors (non of them matched!) she seemed very scattered and not helpful at all, standoffish. I was very disappointed with service. The only person that seemed to care there is a blond girl. She's the only one that showed me the swatches of flowers. I don't know if I would recommend this boutique to others. Although the staff was very accommodating to me and my large group (very thankful for that!), I didn't feel like I got a typical gown shopping experience as I had hoped I'd get. As we arrived, we were greeted by a friendly staff and brought to my changing room. I appreciated that my consultant wanted to ask a couple questions about what I was looking for, however I don't feel like the message got across. I realize nothing is ever perfect but every option I was presented with was completely not my style. (I had even created visual collages to give ideas and these were very far off) I had also shared my (relatively modest) budget and told my consultant that I'd be paying for it so no need to involve my mom or others in the decision process. However, during our visit, my mom was pulled aside and asked if she could increase my budget to accommodate a gown that I was mildly interested in (at best). Finally, although I appreciate that everyone has good and bad days, I feel that a bridal salon should be a place where women feel comfortable to have fun and be excited about their shopping experience! My consultant was very cold and quiet the whole time, and then mentioned that she shouldn't have been at work that day because she was going through a personal matter. Then I made a light joke about my mom to ease tension, and she brought the mood down even more, sharing her own family struggles. I feel sympathetic to her, but I've worked in many retail environments and those details are not something you should share with a client, especially one who is trying to celebrate a happy occasion. It was very clear to my whole group and myself that she was in a negative mood and shouldn't have been working with us. I've had the pleasure of doing business with Maiden Voyage Bridal two times. The first time was in 1999 when I purchased a fancy designer gown for $2200. The staff was friendly, very professional, accommodating and flexible. At the time, my mom lived in California. Because of this, she wasn't able to be there for my first visit. Despite the fact that I selected my wedding gown during that first visit, they kindly offered to have my mom and grandma come back in with me when they were in town so that they could have the whole experience with me. I know what you're thinking, "It's merely because I spent $2200 that they were so accommodating." Not so!! To put that notion to rest, I'd like to share my latest experience. Fast forward 20 years. I am now 50 years old and getting married for the second time. This time it's going to be a backyard wedding in June and a much more casual affair than the first. Despite that, I still want to feel like a bride but was not looking to spend the money that I did last time or have a fancy designer wedding dress. I called last week and explained my situation to Amy, the lady who answered the phone. She suggested that I look on-line at Hayley Paige Bridesmaid dresses. She said they all come in Ivory and may work out great, based on what I described. She also suggested that I set up an appointment to try some on. I quickly said that I felt bad taking an appointment when I'm only spending $300 or so this time around. I too work in sales and figured that they may be commission and that they could spend their time with a bride who's buying a more expensive designer bridal gown. Amy immediately said, "No!! That doesn't matter. Lets make an appointment so that you can have someone assist you." My mom and I arrived this past Saturday for a 1 o'clock appointment and were greeted by a friendly staff, including the owner, Ann. I remembered her from my appointment 20 years prior. We were walked upstairs and introduced to Joan, who is the one who assisted me in the fitting room. She quickly led me to the Hayley Paige bridesmaids dresses where we grabbed five or six to try on. It didn't take long to find the ONE. Not only did I find the perfect $300 bridesmaids dress for my wedding, Joan also found a head piece that matched perfectly. During my time there, Amy also joined us to provide feedback and support as I tried on the dresses and head pieces. I take the time to write this review today because of some of the other reviews that I read. My experience,not once but twice, was nothing short of amazing. It didn't matter if I spent $2200 or $300 on a dress. They made me feel just as important and gave me the same wonderful customer service that a bride would expect. I would highly recommend Maiden Voyage, not only for the quality and vast selection of bride and bridesmaid dresses, but for the incredibly warm and knowledgeable consultants. I have purchased 2 bridesmaid gowns here and never was measured for the right size. I am 0 for 2 when it comes to getting a dress that fits...and I'm not talking not fitting in 1 or 2 areas, I'm talking falling off my body too big. They should learn how to measure a womans body properly so I do not have to spend the price of the dress on alterations (but maybe that's another way for them to rip you off and make more money??) And the worst part, no apology, just a "well I guess you just have to get it altered honey..." All the staff I have encountered there except for one or two are snobby and don't give you the time of day if you don't fit the "wealthy" profile. I would never recommend this place to a bride or bridal party. I hope I never have to go back and if I had a choice I would have never came here in the first place. My dress for my wedding was absolutely beautiful. Like a dream. It was THE perfect dress for me and I couldn't have felt more gorgeous on that day. So much so that I was able to put away and forget the horrendous experience we had when outfitting my wedding party at this place. But, a certain amount of common decency encourages me to warn brides before they spend a lot of money here (and I can't imagine anyone going here without spending a lot of money.) Their wedding gowns START in the low 1000s and go up from there. Most places will carry a wide variety of price points and designers - this place carries mostly high end (and if that isn't your thing, you should know it before you go). As the reviewer before me stated, they do seem to have a certain level of snobbery when dealing with their customers, and while I, myself am not a Rockefeller (nor any of the people who I asked to be in my bridal party), I can say that we spent a sizable chunk of money here. I spent TWICE what I expected to spend on my dress and dressed 8 bridesmaids and 3 junior bridesmaids from this establishment (and some of them did their alterations in house as well). But, at times, it appeared this totally didn't matter to them because they continually attempted to nickle and dime me and my friends/family to death with extra length, larger than needed sizes, accessorizing, and up-selling. This wouldn't be too much of a problem (because all of my awesome bridesmaids were really good at saying "no" and I've been known to be a bit overly assertive at times) except that we dealt with such a MESS of a sales lady throughout the fitting process that it is a wonder that anyone showed up fully-clothed (and in the right dress!) at our wedding at all. 1. One of my bridesmaids was 7 months pregnant at the time of her fitting, but was 4 months post-partum on our wedding day. STILL, they measured her, PREGNANT BELLY AND ALL, and tried to convince her that she would need to order a size TWENTY-TWO in order to fit in the dress properly (she was a size 8 pre-pregnancy, to give you a frame of reference). A dress this large would have cost her an additional $40-60 up front and additional money for alterations (which she would OF COURSE need). Fortunately she only agreed to buy a few sizes bigger than her normal size (and STILL had to have it taken in). At that point she was so mad at them that she took her alterations elsewhere (and looked beautiful). 2. The day that MOST of my bridesmaids got their fittings done will live in infamy because that was the day that the above-mentioned sales person got fired because of what a terrible job she was doing. The next few points are ALL about her. I had to correct her MORE THAN ONE TIME about the colors of the dresses. Right before we ordered them I checked them one more time (thank God) because lo, and behold - they were wrong. Again. I complained to the owner (who is not the nicest to begin with) and I never had to deal with this woman again. 3. On the aforementioned day, this saleswoman proceeded to ask one of my bridesmaids (who has no children and was not pregnant) if she had recently had a baby. 4. When trying on my wedding dress for everyone to see, the woman continually tried to push accessories on me though I reminded her SEVERAL times that I'm a simple person and wouldn't be donning a freaking tiara on my wedding day. 5. The same sales person wrote down some style number for the veil I wanted to wear (although I had no intention of spending the TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS they were charging for the veil - I ended up having mine made for less than 20 bucks). Then when I was trying on the dress for all of my bridesmaids/family, she pulled a totally different veil (I knew it was totally different because it was cathedral length which I wanted NOTHING to do with). After explaining to her several times (though not after she forced the freaking thing on my head) that I did not want a cathedral length veil, she said "Well, this is what I had written down.) Though, as I'm sure I've proven, I'm not at all surprised by her inability to write down the right number and I eventually had to not-so-nicely rip the damn thing off of my head and tell her to not bring me another veil unless it was finger-tip length. I don't know that I've ever spoken to a bride who was 100% pleased with her bridal shop experience. I think it comes from the huge emphasis we put on that aspect of the day and it is hard to understand when someone isn't as freakishly obsessed as you are with your wedding dress. I gave these people a lot of business, but have not recommended it to a single person since. They get two stars because I was still extremely happy with the way we looked that day even with all of the hoops we had to jump through to get there - but they're not carrying anything there that any other bridal shop isn't carrying, so keep looking. read more

I just purchased my wedding gown here and I've had nothing but a GREAT experience! I came in 3 times, yes THREE, before I actually purchased my beloved wedding gown. The first time I came in specifically looking for a dress after finding a picture online but came in with a friend that wasn't too fond of the dress so I then had mixed emotions. The second time, I tried it on with my future mother in law and we cried and I knew it was the one! My consultant Amber even cried, she made the whole experience for me! I was ready to purchase my dress but my mother hadn't seen it on me yet and I didn't want to purchase it without her seeing it (they were willing to let me take pictures and send it to my mom but my trusty iPhone is out of memory so I couldn't). Plus, I truly wanted my mom to see my dress in person. They had no problem waiting, there was no rolling of the eyes or pressure to purchase the dress at that exact moment. They were very supportive of waiting until my mom came in town to see the dress! A few weeks later my mother caught a last minute flight and they had no problem accommodating to our very short window of time. I couldn't be happier with my experience! They were running a sale when my future mother in law and I came in and even honored it for me later when I finally purchased the gown! If you go, ask for Amber! read more

I should have written this a long time ago, but late is better than never. If I can save a few brides-to-be some major heartache, it's worth it. I have so many awful things to say about Maiden Voyage, but the one major experience I had should be enough to discourage anyone from going there. Here's the abridged version: - Extremely pushy sales staff; will resort to cheap scare tactics to get more $$ out of you ("Better buy now, this dress could leave our store overnight! Then you'll never know who made it or how to find it!" Said laughingly, but keep in mind the staff will NOT tell you the designer of the dress so that you really can't go out and find it elsewhere! They also don't allow pictures to be taken of the dress, but made an exception when I said my Mom lives out of town. Ladies, this is practice is SHADY!) - The sample dress I tried on and fell in love with had covered buttons all down the backside (I have pictures for proof); this was one of the elements that sold me in the first place on this dress! When the dress arrived, there were no covered buttons...just a basic zipper instead. - The dress arrived Aug. 14, barely a month before the wedding! We were told it would arrive in six months; so it was actually about two-three months late. Anytime we called to ask where it was, staff told us they had "no idea." - I had three weeks for my alterations, despite the fact that I had lost a whole dress size or more since ordering! I never got to try on the dress when it was completely "done." On my second fitting, I told the alterations woman the dress was so tight now that it felt like it was going to burst, to which she said it was just part of the dress and how it fit. Guys, I'm a little chick--there was no reason for the dress to fit THAT tightly. I paid an extra $180 for alterations. - My dress BROKE ON MY WEDDING DAY, not even an hour before pictures were to begin. As my Mom zipped me up, the zipper came off the track. We thought it would be an easy fix, until we saw that the alterations woman had sewn the end of the zipper deep into the folds of my dress. Thank goodness for my rockstar photographer, who made some calls and in no time had me in a new seamstress' store, literally being sewn into my wedding dress! The entire time, the new seamstress critiqued and criticized the work of the Maiden Voyage staff, pointing out all the easy mistakes and cheap sewing jobs they performed on my dress. After the new seamstress finished sewing me in, the dress fit like a dream! I could dance, move, BREATHE! All of it without feeling like I was going to bust my dress. - Because of the fiasco with my dress, I missed out on a LOT of pictures I wanted. I didn't get to do a "first look" with my Dad and brother, which was so, so important to me. Our photos had to be rushed and I missed out on over an hour and a half of photo session time because we were fixing the dress. I cannot tell you how much this bums me out, as 90% of our guests/bridal party are out-of-towners, and we won't have an opportunity for pictures like these again. - The cherry on top of this whole thing is that Maiden Voyage will not admit their fault. When my Mom called to talk about what transpired and ask for some sort of compensation, MV told her that it was our fault and they wouldn't be giving us more than $150 (which doesn't even cover the cost of the alterations job that ruined my dress in the first place). They claimed they had to pay exorbitant rush delivery fees to get my dress here on time, and THEY lost a lot of money on my dress. Umm...okay? How is that our fault? We ordered in the time frame given to us BY Maiden Voyage. The dress was still months late and WRONG when it arrived. They never once told us about shipping costs or anything like that; all they ever said was "we don't know". Like I said, there's about a million and one awful things I could say about Maiden Voyage. Just save yourself a lot of heartache and headache, and look into other stores! Just don't fall into the trap that I did, or if you do, make sure you have one hell of a wedding photographer to save your butt (and your dress!) like mine did! Happy wedding planning! read more

I would never recommend this place to anyone. The sales associate we worked with was incredibly rude. Even after being extremely specific about the kind of dress I wanted, she continued to bring me dresses that were nothing like what I was asking for. At one point, she brought be a dress that was $3000 over my budget and said it was the closest one they had to what I had asked for. She gave me a long lecture about finding a dress which was really weird and uncomfortable. When the appointment was over she did not even come out of the room to say thank you for coming and goodbye. Since the appointment, I have been looking online at dresses and have found a few that perfectly matched what I asked for and I am shocked that they are carried at Maiden Voyage since the associate cut my appointment early by telling me that she had nothing else to show me. This was the first bridal store I went to out here in STL. I discovered it on yelp and it had great reviews. I was able to set up an appointment at the last minute for me and my future mother in law to go in. I had been bridal shopping back home so I knew what to expect going into this appointment. My consultant was great overall. She was very knowledgeable. She knew what she was talking about and really made an effort to make every dress I tried on look as good as possible. She did pick out some horrendous dresses though which was unfortunate because there seemed to be a lot of pretty dresses on the racks. I was only given 4 dresses to try on and was never asked if I wanted to try on more, If they could pull more or anything of that sort. I am only giving this place 3 stars because the consultant was very pushy towards the end on buying a dress. She came across as a car salesman. Their prices are a bit high. Some of the dresses were overly priced compared to other boutiques I have been too. One dress in particular I had seen it for $200 less at another place. There is only one mirror where brides can stand and look at dresses besides what is in the bridal dressing room. You have to take turns going out to the big mirror. I would recommend Maiden Voyage to future brides but from my experience and from what I have noticed, I will not be buying my dress from here. read more

I tried on wedding dresses and bought a bridesmaid dress from here. They did not seem to have a huge wedding dress selection although the ones they did have were beautiful. I felt pressured by the ladies to buy a dress and they kept talking about adding things which drove the cost up. For bridesmaids dress shopping they were very welcoming to us all. I felt like the process was a lot longer than it needed to be. The bride wanted a specific color so we'd all try on dresses until we finally found a style we could agree on but was then told that it didn't come in the color she wanted. I wish she would have told us which styles were available in that specific before we started trying the dresses on. I also was told I needed a bigger size than what I wanted to order. They wouldn't let me choose my own size and forced me to get the bigger size. Now the dress needs to be taken in. I wanted to share what an AMAZING experience we had at Maiden Voyage Bridal!!! Rachel, one of the owners, and Quincy, one of the employees, were super professional, attentive, thoughtful with feedback (not salesy) and listened to what I was looking for in a dress. She grabbed the correct sizes for me, which greatly helped with envisioning the way the dress would actually look on our big day. This was especially important since I had been SO discouraged by ordering dresses on line from big box names stores and thoroughly disappointed by that experience. But, Rachel and team turned my headspace around and helped us to celebrate our upcoming nuptials in a caring manner. I had a wonderful lady helping me! I came in for my wedding dress and found exactly what I was looking for! Nikki Henry ( I hope I spelled that right) was the lady who helped me and she was great! She was not pushy and very helpful! I also loved the selection and felt it was the best I have found in Missouri. Also to future brides... I recommend not bringing large groups of people. Ugh. I didn't listen to the previous negative reviews so it is my fault... Bridal selection (that you can view) is OK at best. They have their most expensive ones in the main viewing area and these are the only ones accessible to the brides. After trying 4 on that I liked but were at the tipping point of my $2,500 budget, the saleswoman began pulling me more dresses, some cheaper, one $1,000 over budget. Finally she showed me their "stock room". This isn't a stock room, it is where their cheaper dresses are! (Cheaper as in under $2,000) As all brides do, I needed to think on the day's dresses I had tried on, and told this to my consultant who only seemed to then push me harder to buy one of their dresses. Once downstairs she was then pushy with my maid of honor into looking at the bridesmaids dresses. Those dresses range from $240 up. No thank you. Icing on the cake: when I asked her to write down the information, the way the last FOUR shops had done with the designer, name or style number, and price. They refused to write down the designer or the price and said "they have it on record" and that "the prices fluctuate and it could be more the next time I come in if I didn't buy it today". Excuse me?!? Save your time and frustration, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! I ended up liking two dresses, but they were completely axed based on the service and the disrespect for budgeting. read more
