Everything was delicious and the chicken was perfectly crispy. If you're in New Ulm this is definitely worth the short drive over. While of course there's the advertised Americanized Asian food and sushi, there were also a variety of actual American sides, salads, desserts, and entrees. It would be appealing to those who aren't as used to Asian food to dip their toes in to trying new things while having some familiar comfort foods to fall back on. However, this made the offerings an even split between Asian and non-Asian. I've included pictures of their à la carte menu, which you can order instead of the buffet if you know exactly want you want and don't want to leave it to chance that it's put out on the lines. The food itself is acceptable. They do some basic classics for the sushi (but if Sushi is your focus, you'd be better off at one of the nearby Japanese restaurants), and I liked the sesame balls with red bean filling. Their spring roll is fried, not fresh, and is the egg roll's smaller cousin. The kimchi disappoints somewhat, as it was dry, only a little spicy, and didn't have any of that good pickling funk. A good kimchi gotta have that FUNK! The fried rice tasted of the grill top, so it probably could've been more heavily seasoned. Of the buffet entrees, both the beef & broccoli and honey chicken were nice. The beef could've used more beef but cést la vie, that's what being late to the put out gets you. The selection for non-soda beverages was small: hot coffee, tea, and water, then milk. There were creamer packets for the coffee, sugar is at the tables. Yes, they offer desserts. Cookies, cakes, and even a small ice cream chest to scoop from. Overall, it's a buffet. A good pick for indecisive families and picky eaters. The quality of food and service seems appropriate for the price, and I'll be interested to try a combo plate from the menu on my next visit.

Tender meat, the cornbread was great, the beans were AMAZING, and their BBQ sauces all pretty solid. I'd say this is a 3.5 star review overall, but the brisket plate with the sides are worth it. Just be cautious about what else you order.

The server was welcoming and had great suggestions. My husband, a Reuben enthusiast, had what he is calling The Best Reuben ever. The corned beef was smoked, which makes it extra good. I had the Cobb salad, which sounds kind of boring, but I added smoked pulled chicken and some of their homemade Bleu cheese dressing. It was so good. The best of all: those fresh cut and perfectly seasoned fries! We don't go that way often, but if we ever do, we will be building in a stop at Third Street Tavern for sure!
