Original review: 3-Star Review (Two-Lens Version) We worked with Mainline Overland on several upgrades for our 2014 Sportsmobile Sprinter. Our initial meeting with Tom Henwood was friendly and productive, and we agreed on about $9,000 in parts and improvements with about $2000.00 in labor. From the shop's perspective, some of what followed likely reflects the realities of sourcing specialty overland equipment. Several of the parts took longer than expected to arrive, and the timeline gradually moved from a promised-for January completion to an installation in March and final pickup in early April. From the customer side, the challenge was the shifting expectations and communication. The dates kept changing as parts were delayed, and it was sometimes difficult to get a clear sense of what was actually happening behind the scenes. I eventually asked that expectations simply be managed conservatively and transparently. Most of the work appears solid, but we did run into one frustrating issue: the bike rack recommended and purchased by Overland turned out not to be compatible with the new rear storage box installation. One reason we sought out a specialty shop was to help sort out exactly those kinds of compatibility questions. They refunded the cost of the bike rack. My takeaway: Mainline Overland clearly works with complex builds and specialized equipment. Customers who already know their gear and can stay closely involved in the technical details will probably do well here. If you are relying heavily on the shop to guide decisions and timelines, it is worth asking very detailed questions up front about compatibility and scheduling. I'm hoping the system performs well over the summer and will happily update the review once we've put some miles on it. Update - July 2026 After I posted the review above, Peter Henwood, President of Mainline Overland, called me personally and asked if I would consider removing the review and giving the company an opportunity to make things right. Specifically, he offered to replace one of the rear storage boxes with an equivalent model that would accommodate the bike rack, at no cost to me. He sounded sincere. Because I still had several months before a planned two-month trip, I agreed to give them that opportunity. I explained my timeline, and he thanked me for the second chance and said he would be in touch. That phone call was the last communication I received. After using the equipment on our trip, I can say that the storage boxes themselves performed well and the bug screen has been an excellent addition. On the other hand, one installation detail was never completed correctly--the original upholstery on the sliding door was not tucked back into place and has remained loose and flaps during use. Looking back, I believe my original three-star review was fair. I recognized the quality of much of the work while expressing concerns about communication, scheduling, and follow-through. On 1/9/26 I put $9000 down on a new Grandby and was told there was a 10-12 week lead time. With many calls made to them they still can't give me an exact date for delivery! Here it is 6/3/26 and no camper! I had to cancel two trip already and it's looking like I'll have to cancel my trip to The Big Thing at the XO ranch this July. Very disappointing! I finally reached out to FWC main office in Woodland CA and am waiting on a response and resolution to this issue! read more

Update (Dec 5, 2025). My original 1-star review (10/10/25 install at MLO Charlotte) cited missing parts and a solar wiring mismatch for my EcoFlow setup, plus slow responses. Since then, MLO's COO personally stepped in and made it right. What was fixed: Rear tailgate trim piece installed (replacing the temporary bulb seal) -- no more water-intrusion concern. Smoke detector provided as promised. Solar reconfigured to parallel and terminated for EcoFlow DELTA 2 as requested; system now operates within spec. The initial delay and communication gaps were frustrating, which is why I didn't go 5 stars. That said, the final outcome is solid, and the leadership follow-through earned back my confidence. I appreciate the resolution and will consider MLO for future work. read more

I absolutely do not enjoy giving bad reviews. I typically just move on and don't say anything. But in this case, I need to share a review... In short, do not give your money to this company until you have received what you are paying for. You will wait forever to get what you ordered, and if they are installing it, you could be waiting even longer. They had my sprinter for three weeks and some of the parts that were needed were still not there. Why on earth did they schedule me to drop my vehicle off if they weren't ready? The work they did do to my vehicle was top-notch as far as I can tell, but the process was ridiculously painful. Currently they hold $3500 of mine for a month and a half so far as I wait for my refund on things that I decided I did not want to wait a lifetime for. A month and a half. After multiple messages and attempts for me to reach out and find out why, I still have not heard back. It is a head scratcher to say the least. Absolutely unprofessional. This review is for on line purchases, not installations or in store purchases. But if this is how they operate, I wouldn't spend my money with them in person either. When I placed my order for a Eezi-awn K9 roof rack, I was told it would arrive in two weeks. My order took 5 weeks to be delivered. If i had not called them 6 times and emailed them 4 times, i probably still wouldn't have my roof rack. Their customer service is pathetic. They will not return phone calls or emails. The company confirmed in writing on November 18 that my $1,520 refund was approved and would be processed within 7-10 business days. The refund was never issued, and my emails and voicemails since then have gone unanswered. I had a $5,000 upgrade to the suspension on my RV. installed by Main Line in Bow NH. The home sales person I dealt with was horrible to deal with. Made false claims, lost my kit for a month in their warehouse and was snappy when I followed up after sale was made. after install, I had a problem and the tech at Bow was useless in fixing. Didn't follow the manufacturer's process and left me for dead when their fix didn't work. Do yourself a favor and bring your work elsewhere. read more

Appears that they didn't have the product that they were advertising on sale and just canceled my order without notifying me after I sent them an email asking for the status. Main Line Overland is a very inexperienced company that provides marginal custom service. I wouldn't trust that any product they have posted on their site is actually available. I placed an order with them on an item that was on sale. I received an order confirmation email. I waited over a week for any update. I reached out to them requesting an update three separate times. After the third request they informed me the order was cancelled because it was out of stock. The same item is still listed on their website now and I can still add it to my cart. They are at best incompetent and at worst deceptive because they don't want to honor their sale price. read more

BLUF: Avoid MLO if you are seeking reasonable customer service and pricing. They seem to do quality work but their customer service is opaque and they overcharge like crazy. They charged me over double their estimate without any communication along the way, didn't install parts that I requested, and haven't responded to any follow up. +1 star for the decent install and the expertise of the shop - they seem quite skilled. However, -4 stars for terrible customer service and pricing. We brought our Tacoma in to have an ARB front bumper with winch and lights installed in January 2025. Out of the gate, the manufacturer specifies 4 hours for install, but MLO estimated 8 hours (approx. $1,200) - well, I had heard great reviews, so I went forward. I picked out and supplied a winch and driving lights, and requested that they install an ARB recovery point as well. I specifically discussed fitment with the sales rep beforehand with no issues flagged. While I was told that installing the winch and lights "would be an extra 2-3 hours of labor to install", it was completely fine with me - I was fine paying up to $2,000 for quality work. Well folks, I was absolutely floored to receive the bill for 23 hours of labor and over $4,600 - over triple the original estimate and well over double what I expected to pay. When I reached out to MLO about this astronomical bill, their response was that the fitment of the winch was difficult, so they had to repeatedly re-install the bumper over and over to make it work. However, rather than pausing to suggest a different winch (I would have happily exchanged for a different model), contacting me about this issue during the install, or taking any other reasonable or responsible customer service steps, they ostensibly just kept charging away without consulting me at all about all the extra hours. As someone with a lot of wrench time myself, I fully understand that the unexpected can happen when working on vehicles - but I think that most people would expect a professional shop to - at a minimum - reach out to their customer when things get complicated to explain the situation and work through it. I received nothing of the sort. Finally, to add insult to injury - they didn't even order or install the ARB recovery point I specifically requested. Guess I'll be installing that myself. Ultimately, I needed to pick up the vehicle for family matters as soon as the install was completed, so I ended up just paying the $4641.45 they asked for, which blew out a good chunk of the rest of my budget for this build. Directly afterwards, I reached out via email detailing the exact issues in this review and asking for a more in-depth explanation about the charges - MLO did not even bother to respond. Once again, I will note that the install seems to be good and I fully respect the work of their mechanics - the only issue so far is that some of the body panels around the bumper starting to pop out and will require attention soon. I just wish their customer service staff had the professionalism to keep me informed about the install and work with me before slamming me with an invoice for well over double the expected amount. I really had high hopes for MLO and absolutely do not enjoy leaving negative reviews. However, I feel ripped off and ignored as a customer and want to warn others with my expensive lesson about how they do business. read more

Bought a Project M four wheel camper to be installed in Bow, NH. I was told delivery would be 8 to 10 weeks after purchase. I gave them a deposit on April 10th. I was told that once i received the payment request for the balance the Project M would ship within 2 weeks of payment. I paid for the balance May 15th. I made arrangements to head for New England for installation and look forward to having roughly a month to use the camper before having to return to work. I was given every story in the book and was even blamed by them for having the installation done in Bow. I asked several times of when the shipment from California would take place. They said they did not have a point of contact with the Four Wheel Camper people and I was at their mercy. I called the Four Wheel folks and had disappointing news that my project M would not ship until July 13. I finally got it installed on July 18 four days before having to return to work. No customer service. No attention to detail. No follow up whatsoever. Four Wheel Camper should dump them as a dealer. They had my money for over 2 months. Turned out they were 7 weeks behind the original date. Even when they changed my install date from July 17 to July 18. I got there at 8 am to a locked door and no Project M. When someone finally showed at 9:30, he did not even know I was to have install done. The driver showed up after 10 a.m. My sales rep never returned any of my phone calls that morning looking for status. Never returned inquiries on specifications. I had to call the factory. Come ro find out they did not even process my initial order for almost 2 weeks. I do not write reviews but this needed ro be said. They are not very good. I would nor give them a star but this site does not give me the option. read more

I got a new front bumper put on recently by Main Line Overland. They did a great job and I went back a couple months later to have the front springs replaced. They also saw I needed new strut top mounts and isolators and they Hreplaced those. I'd recommend them for sure to anyone needing some work or fun add ons! read more

The Charlotte team has done several projects on my 4WD Sprinter. They always do a great job completing the project with quality and attention to the details. My latest task was to wire Baja Design work lights I installed on my roof rack with an incompatible fitting the van builder provided as an auxiliary port. They've done front/back bumpers, winch, shocks, fuel tank, side ladder, rear-door racks, microwave install, Starlink, cellular antenna, GMRS radio, sound system upgrade... everything was done well. My 2019 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 camper van needed new suspension components, an alignment and tire balance after 100,000 miles. Todd was great to deal with, he responded to my many questions promptly and scheduled a date for installation. Purchased a set of Nomad wheels on their site over the weekend. Today I receive an email saying that they're cancelling my order due to no inventory. I know all these places drop ship from a distributor or the wheel manufacturer so it seemed odd. I go back to their site to see if it says anything about availability that maybe I missed and they raised the price of the wheels. Clearly they decided not to sell at their advertised price. So tell me that. Be honest. Maybe even admit to a mistake and offer a small discount for your mistake but don't lie because that leads me to believe you'll lie about anything. 2019 Ford Transit T350 MR Adventure Van I had a Van Compass TOPO 2.0 Kit installed. Running BFG KO2 245/75 R16. The van weighted greater than 8700 pounds with just the build (no gear), bottomed out over small bumps and road dips. Chong and the team were professional, quick to respond and did the work earlier than expected for the price quoted. This is a follow up to my initial post. Please remember that I gave Main Line every chance to do the right thing. I never wanted to waste my time posting. Since that post Main Line has done nothing to help me and as a result are making it worse for themselves. When I brought my van in for a two hour service that turned into eight I mentioned to Todd Ireland that the ski box they had mounted rattled a lot. He told me, without looking at it, that it's just the way they are. I saw another Revel with the same ski box that didn't rattle at all. Since the van was there for eight hours I think he could have at least taken a look at it. Coming to fix it was one of the things that Main Line refused to do to help me which got me posting in the first place. I went to fix the box myself right after that first post and found that the four bolts holding on the box were only finger tight. If you are cool with inept employees and unresponsive management, or principals who are apparently okay with their employees lying and refusing to live up to promises, and being overcharged for labor, Main Line Overland could be just what you're looking for. read more

My Jeep Wrangler needed a coolant leak addressed before taking it out on a beach trip followed up by a camping trip. I decided to hire Main Line Overland for the work because they installed a roof rack on my Wrangler before, as well as addressed some driveshaft issues for me. The coolant leak ended up being an entire water pump replacement which ultimately gives me peace of mind on the road & trail. Matt and Aaron at MLO are always ready to assist no matter how complex the project is. Their team in the shop are top-notch technicians as well. Poor experience here at Mainline Overland in West Chester PA. Everything was good, especially the communication while my salesman Matt sold me a consigned Fourhweel Camper. But, immediately after the sale - the experience was poor. Complete lack of communication and service. I had sent several emails - none were responded to. Left several voicemails - also none were responded to. Three weeks back I reached out to Matt again to see if they could help me sanitize my tanks and get an alignment done (since it's advisable to get one once the camper sits on the truck). I am new to the camper scene and there was Antifreeze in the freshwater tank from the previous owners and I was looking for their help to sanitize it to be able to add drinking water in the tank. He mentioned he would get back to me later in the afternoon. It's been 4 weeks. It's pretty obvious that after they got the money for the camper they could care less. Not like any of this work would have been done for free - no favors here - I was asking for paid work to be done. But I digress. Go to Mainline Overland in NC and use the store and team down there. As this place seems to excel in poor service. Don't waste your time and money at this place in West Chester. The team in NC will take care of you a 1000X better! read more

Do not go anywhere else for overland and 4wheel upgrades! I have upgraded my Tacoma here several times and the experience has been amazing! Service, communication, pricing, and most importantly, the quality is second to none. I have had small things like lighting installed to major work such as differential regearing. It was a frustrating experience with Main Line Overland due to very poor communication. I attempted to have them upgrade my vehicle's suspension, tires, and/or the installation of a campervan heater. I initially had positive communication from Eric at the Bow location and was excited about their professionalism and expertise. I was told I'd hear back by the end of the week after they researched options and how we'd move forward with scheduling. The following week I had reached out several times yet I heard no response by the end of the week from Eric or Matthew. What was originally an exciting project with confidence in Main Line Overland turned out to be a very frustrating customer experience. I'm not sure what happened on their end but if they ultimately decided they couldn't execute on any of the projects (they originally said they could), the professional response would have been to pick up the phone and notify the customer. read more
