I was traveling and had a taste for Chinese food. I ordered delivery and they got it out pretty quickly. The driver didn't follow my directions but that's not really the restaurants fault. The food was tasty. I would eat it again. I always struggle with criticizing portion size because as Americans our portion sizes are always two big anyway! I would say that while the portion size was not what a lot of Americans expect it was a perfectly adequate serving size. Meaning, I was not hungry when I was done. Main Moon, a Geneva staple. This is my go to Chinese restaurant for one reason: they deliver. The food is what you may expect and eating in would leave something to be desired. But for quick hot takeout (about 15 minutes from call to pickup) or delivery (around 40 minutes) this spot is always a win in my book. With an infant at home food I do not have to cook or pick up even in the winter is fantastic. The fried shrimp are great. My husband gets the Kung Pao Chicken. He also likes the BBQ ribs. I get Sweet & Sour Pork or Beef with Broccoli. Even when delivered the breaded items are still crunchy. We often order too much then snack on what is left in the fridge. Is it the best ever? Nope. Traditionally, these places are known for their low prices and subpar food, but I'm not sure I feel the same about Main Moon. Price: Okay, so the prices are low. I feel that I ordered a General Tso's Combo which includes a main entree of General Tso's chicken, a bed of Fried Rice, and an Eggroll for about $6. Taste: Ultimately, Main Moon is a Chinese American fast food restaurant, but the food tastes good. The smell of it cooking is fantastic as well if you wait for it. I've had a couple different kinds of chicken here so far (General Tso's, Sweet and Sour) and I enjoyed both. Sure, it's fried food probably loaded with sodium, but it sure does taste good. Atmosphere: The Dine-In area leaves a bit to be desired, but let's be honest, do you go to a Chinese place for a good sit-down experience? That said, I've ate there before, and I wasn't put off. The staff isn't that fluent in English, but why does that matter? You're there to eat. I will say though that the main guy that is always there is pretty awesome. Overall: I give Main Moon a 4 based on their consistantly good service and slightly above average taste. It's more or less your typical Chinese place, but it does what it needs to do right. The food, as always, is pretty decent. The people are friendly, the place is ostensibly clean. The reason for this low star rating is the animal abuse on premises. The fish tank kept in the lobby as a staple of Asian Restaurants, is filthy. I have never once seen the tank with clean water, there is no proper oxygenator, and the fish barely move due to the filth. Take some pride in your business, and don't leave fish that are there to decorate your place of business, living in filth. This is negligence to the highest degree. Take care of the fish, or get rid of the tank. It's honestly abhorrent. read more

We only lived in Geneva for a year, but Main Moon quickly became the standard by which we judged our Chinese takeout. Since moving to Rhode Island it's been difficult at best to find Chinese takeout that matches the quality and flavor that Main Moon provides. I recently moved to Geneva and when I originally tried this place I thought the food was pretty good. Over time, the food changed so much in consistency. I ordered some Lo Mein tonight and the food tasted and smelled funny. I called and the individual who answered the phone said that her manager would be out to check the food. My daughter had already taken some of the food and left it in a bowl. There was quite a bit of food left in the container. She was told that he'd refund $5. This guy was extremely rude and I understand there's some language barrier but rude is rude. I am giving you 2 stars tonight because of how you treated me when I called about my order. I think you should learn how to treat people on the phone when they call to complain, have you ever heard about the customer is always right you should never argue with a customer over the phone when they called to tell you that something is wrong with your food. You should be gracious and offer to replace what is wrong or give them credit. I've never had a problem with your food before this is the first time I did not expect to be treated that way on the phone. read more

It's your typical American style (Panda Express) Chinese food. BUT they do have authentic Cantonese dishes if you sway that way. They also have off the wall things like fries and fried chicken wings. I've tried different things and I've learned to just stick with the combo meals that come with main meat/lo mein or fried rice/pork egg roll. My family usually orders the sesame chicken with lo mein BUT make it spicy, it kicks up the flavor 100%. Make sure to do carry out and it'll usually be done in 15 mins. Super fresh to order. Well let's start with the good. The food was good, I would have given 4 stars since the portions were on par or better than most (my wonton soup had 5 big wontons in a pint. That's excellent. And to add, the ingredients were quality, my shrimp with lobster sauce although a smidge on the bland side had good size shrimp in it. Now the negatives that took away from the 4 star rating; the lady that took the order on the phone was short with me, almost argumentative which is probably due to the cultural differences, irritating but ok. I was going to pay by credit card over the phone but she rattled off the total and hung up, good thing I had some cash...I usually do not. Then the delivery guy came. Prompt, not spilled everywhere which is good. I gave him the cash and he counted back MOST of my change then looked at me like "you don't want it ALL back do you?" Which I did, because I was going to give him a $5 but since he just stared at me with part of my change in my hand I just forked over the $2 he just handed me. He cheated himself out of $3. I feel so bad writing this. I have tried this Chinese food twice before a few years ago and it was awful. But then I decided to give it another chance a week or so ago. IT WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE. Honestly, buying it from the frozen food section would be WAY better. Flavorless general csao chicken. And egg drop soup was thickened somehow (corn starch?) and therefore weird consistency. Tried it anyway, and the flavor was awful. I threw everything away. I just don't get why people eat their food. Perhaps they've never had good Chinese food to compare it to? I've been to a few Chinese restaurants and this one is pretty good in my opinion. The food is cheap, but good. The menu is huge, i order something different almost every time. With traditional Chinese American foods such as, beef and broccoli, chicken wings, general Tsao, and sesame chicken, you can't beat it for the price. Plus they have some more traditional Chinese dishes like Singapore Mei Fun, which is a spicy rice noodle lo mien with pork, shrimp, chicken, and vegetables.. My go to when in a rush. But if you take your time to read and understand menu, you'll always find something you'll like. Now there are some negatives here too. The delivery takes at least an hour, even for simple dishes. You're better off going in and ordering take out or pick up. Not to mention the dine in experience is cramped and not ideal for big parties. The last time I ordered from there was over a year ago. I ordered the chicken with cashew nuts combo with white rice, and a pint of hot and sour soup. The chicken dish was tasteless. I decided I was never going to order from there again. The soup was pretty good though. I had a craving yesterday for Chinese, so I decided to try it again. I don't like spicy Chinese. This time I ordered the chicken with cashew nuts combo, just as it comes, with pork egg roll and pork fried rice, along with egg drop soup. I stopped by as a walk in. As usual the place was very busy, lots of foot traffic. I waited about 20 minutes. I was so disappointed! The chicken was bland again, so was the soup-tasteless, thickened with something, maybe corn starch. I threw most of my order away, after trying to doctor it up with a jar of orange ginger sauce. Either they have cut corners, or they have cooks who don't know how to cook. They also have different fortune cookies that make no sense and have misspellings. read more
