[[HIGHLIGHT]]Maya was the most gentle xray technician I have ever had and even offered numbing paste because I told her the bite wings always really hurt me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have the newest and nicest technology so there are very few xrays they even need to take with very minimal radiation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dr. Nicholas Young is the sweetest, most compassionate dentist I've met.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I let him know the dentist at Estetic Smiles made my last cleaning so uncomfortable and painful that I had to swicth dentists and never go back, it literally hurt for 72 hours even after the cleaning. He listened and gave advice when I asked on an electric toothrush, whitening tooth paste and white strips, he is so knowledgeable and the cleaning itself was a breeze. He was gentle but thorough and didn't hurt me at all. I went home knowing I would never see another dentist besides him again and couldn't wait to share with my family and friends how wonderful he is. After my previous dentist no longer accepted my dental insurance, I searched for another dentist. For years, I've been going to Main Street Dental for cleanings and check-ups. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First, the receptionist always greets me warmly when I walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They let you know how much you'll end up paying--if anything--upfront, and you electronically sign forms consenting to payment, cleaning, etc. Because I crave staining food and drinks, I try to stay on top of brushing, flossing, and my dental checkups. When I first started going here, the dentist informed me I had the beginning of periodontal disease. So I tried to step up my oral hygiene game (do you know how long 2 minutes is? Whether it's brushing your teeth or running on a treadmill, it's forever). Anyway, this place is fantastic because they had me coming in every 3 months for a cleaning to slow down my periodontal disease. Then they informed me I now only need to come in every six months since this past year. That saved me money and made me trust this place even more. They have also repaired a chip on my tooth, and everyone from the receptionist to the dental hygienists and dentist is very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only downside is that I need an itemized receipt for my health spending account. While I understand they can't provide it immediately, they informed me they would email me a copy the following day or the beginning of the following week. This rarely happens, and I have to call them to email me the itemized receipt. Although I understand their busy schedules, three calls on the same day were necessary before they finally emailed the promised itemized receipt from the day before.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I plan to keep this original, pearly white set of chompers with the current owner as long as possible. When I first started coming here it was great. They have all the bells and whistles. Recently I had a teeth cleaning that consisted of fluoride application and flossing of my teeth. That's it. No scraping or picking at plaque like is usually done. I was then told I had a hairline fracture on one of my back teeth and told my portion would be $800 to remove old silver filling and replace with new. I asked Main St. Dental for a Pre-Authorization from Delta Dental. When received, it indicated that I now have two fractured fillings! I cancelled my appointment and went to my former dentist. He took x-rays, photos and performed a complete examination and determined that I have NO fractured fillings at all. How many people & senior citizens are having unnecessary work done at this place with inflated co-payments?!? The company was sold recently (again) and the new dentist is an absolute fraudster. They are charging me a cancellation fee for an appointment I showed up for, but refused to pay in advance for services I neither requested nor wanted. They said the dentist wouldn't see me if I didn't pay, and I wasn't going to pay... So they charged me even more! They refused to accept my hmo insurance, which covered a cleaning, and tried to trick me into paying for services. They did this 6 months ago too, and I don't believe they even actually performed the service they charged me for! I will never pay that extortion rate. I will NEVER book here again. You lost a client after almost $20k in dental work, over $25. How pathetically greedy! I plan to collect my dental records, payment receipts and submit a formal complaint with the state board. read more

Why didn't I check here first! I went in with an infected rear tooth and was fully aware I needed dentures and approx 16 extractions and dentures. But based on what my insurance would cover annually I wanted this to be done in December and January . Only wanted the one extraction at this time . I was talked into a plan with sedation and all extractions with a final out of pocket of $5400 which the had me apply for credit n the spot . I was informed the afternoon before the extractions that I was underquoted $1270 insurance would not pay . [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked how they arrived at my out of pocket without first putting it through the insurance got a lame excuse[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] now they have split my dentures upper and lower I've had only 3 removed and the $725 sedation couldn't happen due to my sleep apnea which was on my medical chart. Before . They had to use a local to remove. And Dr Ely only there 1 day per month was too. Busy and needed to numb me up again as it was wearing off by the time he got to me BuT DIDNT and began to pull as I kicked off my shoes I've never had a dentist continue after expressing the feeling of pain twice . They will not be finishing my PLAN which was overpriced to begin with cmon $1000.00 per temporary dentures. Yes that's x2! Absurd and no discount of $725 for the sedation as they claim to have used bone graft which I don't think they could have even put in in the 10 minute he jerked 3 teeth out more than unhappy fins another place to go REALLY! read more

Nice facilities and equipment, and competent dental team, BUT.... after several years with them I won't be returning. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In each of my last two visits I was specific about what I wanted when making the appointment, and in each instance the appointment was granted based on the services I was requesting. However, when I arrived, I was told that I needed additional services leaving me with a strong feeling that they are in the business of upselling services and maxing out what they can get from my insurance[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. It just feels off. I am ok with x-rays once a year, but not every visit. I don't want a "mandatory" oral cancer check every time I go. If I come in for an interim cleaning (3 months after my last cleaning, which was a deep cleaning), I don't want to be subjected to nor have to pay for more x-rays and dental exam.... just a cleaning please. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All I wanted today was an interim cleaning (my last cleaning was a deep cleaning 3 months ago) before I leave on my holiday travels. This was made clear when I made the appointment. I was then sent forms to sign which asked me to authorize a treatment plan which again included x-rays. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I arrived at their office, I again specified that I only wanted a cleaning and no x-rays or exam, as I would be doing those after the holidays. After a short wait, a representative came out and told me I couldn't do that, and that the only thing I could get today would be an exam as their hygienist responsible for deep cleans was not it. I was then told there would be a $50 charge for not moving forward with the appointment despite the fact that they weren't providing the service I had requested. They were on my insurance company's list for twice a year teeth cleaning, so I made an appointment online. They called and said that the first appointment wouldn't be for the cleaning, but a dentist would examine me and it would cost $25. Not what I wanted, but I went along with it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The receptionist also wanted to take my picture. Seemed unnecessary, so I declined.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After waiting a little while, I was told they would be taking a full set of x-rays, which I didn't want. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I told the receptionist that I had them done at my previous dentist's office not too long ago, and she said "Did you bring them with you?" Kind of rude.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Of course I didn't bring them. I didn't even know it would be an issue. They said it wasn't possible to do the full exam without the x-rays. Long story short, I was charged $25 for a "cancellation fee". I felt ripped off, but maybe it was worth it not to get further involved with this place. After all that, I made a cleaning appointment with my previous dentist. The had stopped contracting with my insurance, so I will have to pay out of pocket. I came here to get an extraction - my first and only - and then were so wonderful to me here. I was determined to get the laughing gas so paid extra for it because I near always feel everything when I get dental work done. The shots never seem to work. I didn't want to feel any pain. Anyways so I paid the extra for the Nitrous Oxide and the doctor number me up and gave me the gas and OMG I was having a major awesome trip. I joked that it was so good, even joked saying I'll come back to do every extraction there and joked I could go for dentures just to get more Laughing gas! I was joking. I have great teeth. I've used this office since long before Dr. Khazali took over, but this year I have been overbilled for services, (and told them so when they first gave an estimate), and now I am being charged for other services that I never received. It took over two months, and a lot of frustrating interactions, to get a refund due on the overcharges for a crown from March. And now I am getting billed over $500 for services from June that were NEVER rendered. These billing issues are not only a total waste of my time, but a waste of the staff's time. Rather that have an emphasis on getting more money out of patients, (which is the reputation this office has now), try focusing on accurate billing. I expect this new issue of being billed for fictitious services or trying to rebill for past services, or whatever it is that is happening, to be resolved ASAP. I had a really disappointing experience as a new patient at Main Street Dental Group and am amazed they have overall positive reviews. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I scheduled my appointment with Veronica, she was unclear on the phone and never mentioned that the visit wouldn't include a cleaning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She did say, she couldn't confirm if the cleaning would be regular or a deep cleaning with an additional cost. Since I take good care of my teeth and have them cleaned every six months, I wasn't concerned about needing a deep cleaning. I showed up expecting a full exam and cleaning, as that's always been standard everywhere else I've lived across the country. Instead, I spent about five minutes with the dentist and was told I'd need to come back for a separate cleaning, and was charged a $25 "new patient fee." They also mentioned that the fee amounts to $2,500 if you're uninsured, which was confusing and concerning especially since it was no different than any other exam I have had aside from literally not including a cleaning. I've never paid a new patient fee before, nor have I ever had to schedule a separate cleaning appointment as a new patient. They also said they require x-rays every six months which is very atypical, in fact, normal practice is every 18-36 months. After discussing the issues there was a lack of communication that occurred.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The problem was the insurance company and some policies that I was not aware of before. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The office manager is willing to work with me regarding the insurance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's still very time consuming to resolve these things and my advice is that if you need an expensive treatment check with insurance beforehand. I thought the dental office did this but that is not always the case. I do recommend the dentists and care staff and feel confident in the work. But check your insurance and make sure you see costs in writing. Do not hurry through that important piece! I changed my score based on this latest communication and want to stress that my new score reflects the work that the dentists do. Dr. Khazali is truly a great dentist. She is very knowledgeable and professional. Her work is meticulous and beautiful. She is also very conservative when it comes to dental work. She always recommends the best and least extensive work possible during her exams. I have found Dr. Khazali after having many bad experiences with my previous dentists and feel so blessed to have her as my dentist. I personally drive about 2 hours to go see her. Don't trust this office. I went to them for an exam and they told me that I absolutely needed a deep cleaning and a a crown redone. Also, they do a cancer exam every six months and charge you $25. He told me I didn't need an expensive deep cleaning and new crown, just a simple cleaning, which was included with my insurance. And they include the cancer exam for free. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. it is a business to make money. on my last visit I waited over an hour in the chair to see the dentist. not a soul came to check on me or even had the courtesy to let me know how much longer I would have to wait. in addition I was charged for cleaning I did not ask for. I was advised that I needed deep cleaning. I agree with Marolyn who had the similar treatment as I did. Taking advantage of Medicare aged patients is a crime. Dentist suggested I get rid of my gold crown for a more aesthetically looking resin crown. There was no pain but she talked me into it. She recommended I pay for the in house crown they can make for me in about an hour but I declined because of the cost. She then proceeded to remove my gold crown and grind down the tooth beneath it that anchors the crown. As she was doing this she stopped in a panic because she grinded it down so much there was little left to support a crown. She then offered to give me the in house crown because she worried about placing a temporary one. After I waited and she install the crown she filed it down so it wouldn't be flush with the rest of my teeth. She told me that I should avoid chewing with that molar! Now there's pain coming from that tooth and I'm afraid I'm on the hook for an implant. I went in to discuss this with them on Friday during my exam but they are now forcing ever patient to pay a $25 fee for a "cancer screening". This use to be an optional scamming fee which I always declined but now they force this upsell charge on you. Unfortunately because I refused to pay this fee the dentist refused to see me. I know all dentist try to upsell you for something but this place is out of control. Please for the love of God find somewhere else to go. read more

Apt. #1 - I was looking for a new dentist after moving to Ventura and stumbled across this place through my insurance provider. Appointment was scheduled in the same week. I was coming in for a simple routine cleaning (which my insurance provider showed as being covered at 100%). I came in, presented them with my insurance. I was told that they would assign a dentist to me which I didn't mind considering I didn't know any of the dentists there so I really had no preference. I was asked to pay a "cancer screening fee" (I believe it was around $30) which I thought was really strange having never paid that before at any other practice. I was taken back and they ended up doing a bunch of imaging after which my assigned dentist came in and told me I needed to get a few fillings. He gave me my cancer screening which I kid you not.... he briefly looked around inside my mouth for maybe a total 10 seconds and then told me that everything looked fine. Honestly my $30 I was forced to pay for that mandatory cancer screening would have been better spent if I lost them outside in the parking lot.... Anyways after this screening I was told that they didn't have time to do any of the work that day and sent me on my way. I was told that I had visible signs of gum disease and needed a deep cleaning that would cost me $600 after insurance. So I came in to get a free cleaning, was charged for some bogus "cancer screening", and then sent on my marry way after not having my teeth cleaning! Sweet! Apt. #2 - I came in for my second appointment to get my fillings. The dentist told me that one of my teeth could be saved with a filling, but was convinced my other teeth had such bad cavities (based on my X-rays)) that they would most likely need to have crowns put over them. They estimated that this would have been close to around $2k. They took close to 2 hours to pull my old filling out. The new filling was put in and they started filing it down. They put on one of those special tips that is used to smoothen the filling out and within a few seconds in my mouth that bit literally tore off the drill and launched itself into the roof of my mouth. It happened so quick and was so painful that I thought that my tooth had torn apart and had hit the inside of my mouth. I was told that the tooth was fine, but their machine had broken... inside of my mouth. The dentist looked very concerned and started asking where those tips were ordered from. This was a first for me... Anyways the appointment had taken so long that the dentist told me we would have to reschedule again. I was billed out at the office and was surprised that the filling that should have cost me just around $50 was priced at around $150. I asked them, but they told me that my insurance only covered some of it. I didn't want to argue with them so I paid it and went home. About a week later after talking to insurance and my human resources department I found out that due to some internal error my insurance had not been set up correctly. I had signed up for the gold plan, but was set up with the silver plan. On top of this I found out that the dentist that main street dental had assigned to me was guess what... out of network. They had my insurance in hand and still signed me up with an out-of-network dentist. My provider quickly made the changes and changed my insurance to the gold plan after I was told that they would send out my new info to the dentist and I should be receiving a refund shortly. I waited a 2 months with no refund. I would try and call Main Street Dental where they would give me the run-around every single time saying that either their billing person was out of the office, or I was calling to late, or they were too busy. Sometimes they would forward me to someone who would never answer their phone or return my phone calls. I waited for 6 months and still had no refund. Same story with Main Street Dental. Same bs run-arounds. By this point my insurance provider was issuing the 3rd check to be sent to them since they were claiming they still didn't have it in hand. Finally at around 8-9 months I was calling them on a weekly basis and it was not until I told them that I had had it with their bs and was going to write this very review that they somehow magically told me that the check was found and that I was going to be issued a refund that day. If you stuck to the end then here is a funny little side-story. I ended up going to another dentist that was almost 2 hours away (about a month after my initial incident at Main Street) and he re-did all my xrays. I was told that not only did I not need any crowns, but that I had no cavities. Remember that gum disease that needed a $600 deep cleaning? Well guess what... turns out I had some very light plaque. No deep cleaning needed. Oh and I finally got that free cleaning that I initially came in for. Avoid the hell out of this place. These people are shady, they lie to you, and then they ghost you for months. read more

I had been going to this dentist for a couple of years. I have never needed anything extensive just regular cleaning. The last time I went in for a cleaning appointment I was told that there would be a $100+ copay for this visit. Having never had to pay such a large copay I was shocked. When I requested as to why there was a large copay, I was told that it was because they were going to do some kind of laser cleaning and scaling. I told them that I had not scheduled any kind of laser cleaning and that I didn't have the money to pay such a large copay and that I would rather just get a regular cleaning as I always have in the past. They told me, "Absolutely not", pay the $100+ copay and get the laser cleaning or nothing. Of course, I protested and questioned as to why they couldn't just give me a regular cleaning and I was met with attitude (Bad Attitude). Suddenly it was me against them. They said "Take it or leave it". After explaining to them how wrong and rude I thought they were and that I would find a different dentist. The Dentist herself mockingly said " Good luck finding another Dentist." as if she was the only one in town. These people were arrogant and condescending towards me and any concerns that I may have had. They did not care whatsoever for how I felt about this unexpected extra cleaning procedure and charge. Their attitude was, take it or leave it, we don't care. I would NEVER go to this place again. This was the first time that I came to this dental office through a referral from a trusted colleague. I had an emergency due to a cavity that was radiating pain around my jaw and needed a root canal. I could not find an open practice around my area due to the restrictions around covid-19. Luckily, this place is open and were taking emergency procedures. I had a very very good experience from the beginning of the process. I was accommodated on a very short notice and the scheduling process was a breeze. On the day of, there were stringent covid-19 protocols before letting patients inside the facility and while operating which made me feel really at ease for myself and the staff. During the process, the staff were really friendly, took the time to answer all my questions, and explained to me really well a lot about my case. All of the staff that worked on me checked on me constantly to ensure that they can maximize the comfort and minimize the pain. I value the transparent, professional and caring nature of this place. I am sending this review out to Dr. Khazali, Trinidad, Dr. Langer and Kelly who all took care of my needs really well during that day. I came here in pain and with dental insurance . The office staff did not want to provide options to manage my pain if i did not go with their dental plan that was thousands of dollars . they did not want to discuss options that were financially manageable. I am a teacher with good insurance and this bill wAS INSANE ! The person helping became rude when i questioned the bill ( mind you I am polite i was wondering what complicated treatments listed ) including why 8 appointments were necessary . I had duplicates on the bill that to this date make no sense . I asked if i could get something for the pain and told that was not an option unless going with their recommendation only . I left this office in pain , feeling like patient care was not a priority, and NEVER wanting to return again. i can't believe i paid for this type of treatment . All i could say is i am so happy I did not wait to bring my autistic child here and wondering how much they scammed good people . I cannot believe this is even still available in a city known to have people of low SES . read more

I love this place, I've always hated going to the dentist. It's a real struggle for me and always has been. The staff at Main Street Dental are some of the most warm and friendly people. Myself, my husband, and now my mom have been treating with Dr. Khazali for years. She is very professional in explaining exactly what her treatment recommendations are and why - which helps a lot when it comes to dental treatment. I used to be afraid of the dentist but she has made it so much easier and smoother from me. We also love the high tech equipment and tools they have at the office which allows for less visits and getting work done within a timely fashion!!
