Terrible dental practice. This place is a money mill looking to upsell anything they can even if unnecessary. Also, if you're sick and unable to make the appointment, and call in first thing in the morning to inform them, they will charge a cancelation fee and then drop you as a patient if the fee isn't paid immediately - even with a doctors note! We switched to sunny smiles and they are much better. Save yourself the headache and choose a better dentist. read more

This has by far been my favorite dentist office for myself. The front desk staff, dental hygienists, and primary dental team are very friendly and extremely helpful. They always take the time to explain things thoroughly and answer any questions I have, whether it be my insurance coverage questions or questions about my dental care. My experiences have mostly been with Star at the front office (she always takes extra and thoughtful time to go over my care plan with me and shows me how my insurance factors in), and Pam (dental hygienist who is so kind and friendly, and my teeth feel great after she cleans them). I've had some less than ideal experiences at other dental offices, from care quality to experiences with the staff or care team, and I can't overemphasize how nice it is to have found such an amazing dental office. I'm not fond of the scheduling person(s) who has gotten things mixed up more than once. Also, there is an "aggressive" push to schedule procedures resulting in a money-grabbing vibe that is not cool amid the prevailing economic uncertainty. I never seem to be able to get out of there without dropping $1,000 on services (this is with insurance, albeit "lame" insurance). There are also new dentists on board. The dentist I had the last time I had an appointment (not Dr. Lapiad), seemed rushed, was talking loudly throughout the procedure, and seemed uncouth. A year ago I was looking for a new dentist. I had read an advertisement in a mailer I received that noted Dr. Lapiad was a fantastic, caring, gentle dentist. In hopes of having this experience I joined the "Kleer" membership and chose to have my dental work here. I filled out all of the paperwork and met the hygenist. Then Dr. Phan came in and set up a Treatment plan. The first item was deep cleanings. I was fine with all of those things but when I came back the first time after the initial visit I was told by Martha their receptionist at the time that I would be seeing Dr. Phan going forward. I said "why" and she said because Dr. Lapiad was too busy, she then reassured me that Dr. Phan was just as nice and caring as Dr. Lapiad. I found out better as time went on. Because I avoided Dentists for a few years (financial constraints) so my situation was not good. The hygenist, Pam was lovely and I always looked forward to seeing her. However, Dr. Phan and his assistant Bella were horrible, they would chit chat over me as they were poking and prodding in my mouth and Dr. Phan's biggest request was that I get implants. First he told me that I had to have a tooth pulled, so we pulled the tooth. He said he wanted to do skin grafting for $645.00, I told him the front office receptionist (Martha was gone by then) no, I could not afford this. When I came into that appointment, he said ok, let's get the extraction and grafting done. I said "NO" we are not doing the grafting. I had question why my initial reason for coming to them had not been handled immediately, a crown that had only a temp from a previous dental office, replace. Oh but we had to follow the treatment plan? Needless to say 9 months into the plan the temporary crown broke off in my mouth and I was left with literally a sharp sliver in my mouth. Now this tooth needed to be removed and I told them again "No Grafting", they didn't listen. I was in the office in June having my teeth cleaned and Lovely Pam told me to schedule another appointment for my teeth cleaning. I always, everytime I had been into the office asked if there were any charges for the next upcoming visit as I would bring a check from home. Pam told me that this cleaning in August (today) would be my last free cleaning under my membership plan. I confirmed this with Star when I called back in to make the appointment. Yet today when I got into the office the girl at the front desk, stated I had to pay $135.00 I said that is NOT what I was told and I'm not paying that, as I was told by two different people this was my last free cleaning. She said "they were wrong". I told them I would be writing a bad review as I got nothing as they advertised on their ad and the care from Dr. Phan was ridiculously poor and uncaring except that he wanted to make money off my unfortunate dental situation. He even referred me to a Periodontist who I checked out and has the worst reputation, only 3.7 stars and multiple complaints. Just be careful as I don't believe they are upfront or honest about any of their practices. Not to mention in all the office visits I had I never met Dr. Lapiad or even saw her in the office. I will also be writing a letter to Dr. Lapiad, I don't believe she is even aware of the unprofessional positions her name is being put under. read more

River park is barely contacting me to let me know of a past due balance from 3 years ago?! How do you let a bill got for three years and not leave a voicemail to say please call us back... So upset... all I could say on the phone was to send me a physical bill immediately so I can pay it off. So ridiculous. Disappointed to realize after several years of these folks being my dentist that their office policies are insensitive and their front office staff are less than warm and hospitable. The technicians and dentists themselves were solid, though I am confident there are dentists just as good that have a more capable and compassionate administrative staff. The front desk is very incompetent, treatment is very overpriced and getting an appointment is painfully slow. Plus they practically harrass you via email to leave a good review. The final straw was when I asked to speak with the dentist to resolve an issue and I was told that "The dentist does not have direct contact with patients." I had to laugh because that doesn't even make sense-- a service provider not having contact with those they provide service to! -- but bottom line, they basically told me the dentist doesn't "deal" with patients unless we're paying (an arm and a leg) for an appointment. I asked to speak with the office manager and I was told they do not have one. I then asked who deals with customer service issues, and the girl stayed quiet, then said they have to follow policy. (I'm pretty sure she was following a script because she didn't make sense.) Long story short, I ended up contacting my insurance company and they told me I was entitled to a refund for being overcharged by this dentist. Save yourself the headache and avoid going here! I started going to Oxnard Smiles Dentistry and was taken care of right away and paid less than what I was quoted (with two insurances!) at riverpark dentistry. read more

Really bizarre cancellation policy. I cancelled over a month ago last minute. At that time they told me they'd waive the fee as a first time offender. Totally appreciated that. I returned from a business trip to Dallas with a fever of 101 and a horrible cough. No Covid but I definitely picked up something. My symptoms came on over the weekend, so I called first thing Monday morning over 24 hours before my appointment to reschedule. They want to charge me if I cancel. I explained that I was just following their policy and giving advance notice and that I would come to the appointment. They said fine. I can't believe if you're sick you can't notify them over 24 hours in advance and avoid a penalty charge. So bizarre! Guess I'll be passing my flu on to them tomorrow afternoon. read more

I've been coming to the dentist for about 7 years and I've always thought they've done a very professional job, they have professional staff who are down to earth, and the dentists are efficient and personable. I've never had a problem with anything- no billing issues no communication issues. I like the office layout and the cleanliness of the entire area and I think that each person who works in the office does quality work. They're very good about hygiene and cleanliness, which is the most important thing to me and they make me feel comfortable every time I come. I like them. read more

Beware! Sent my account to collections for $68 for charges I was unaware were out-of-network. I had been a patient since around 2019. Went in for routine teeth cleaning in April 2024; was told I had no co-pay, so I was surprised to receive a bill in either late June or July. When I inquired about the charges, I was told they would look into it. No one got back to me. When I received another bill, I followed up with them and was told it was because they were no longer in network, something they neglected to tell me when I came in in April. I contacted my insurance carrier and was told the practice had opted out of network the prior November and that it was RiverPark Dentistry'a responsibility to advise their patients of same. I never received any such notice from them and they failed to do so when I came in in April and I only learned of it AFTER I followed up with them in late July. Had they informed me either prior to, or at the time I came in in April, would have gone to another dentist who was in-network. I advised them of this in late July/early August and that I would be finding another dentist. Their response: Thank you for letting us know. No explanation or apology for not advising they were no longer in network. My next communication from them was from collections in October. I have emailed RiverPark about this matter repeatedly and left phone messages, all unanswered, other than referring me to collections. I might add that on a previous visit, they sent me a bill for a service charge for paying my bill with a credit card, which I had done so from my first visit with them. When I asked about the charge, I was told it was a new policy. However, they did not tell me about it at the time. In all fairness, they did reverse the charge at my request. I am shaking my head over this. I received a breast cancer diagnosis in January (which caused me to delay other dental work I had had planned with RiverPark Dentistry before all this ,something they had been aware of). read more

Went for a cleaning over 2 years ago now when I lived in California. They suggested a deep clean and told me what I'd be responsible for paying and what my insurance would cover. After the procedure and after I paid my end, turns out my insurance wont cover part of my mouth and they asked for more proof as to why I needed that specific portion of my mouth deep cleaned. This office has yet to send a letter to my insurance as to why they needed to do that quadrant of my mouth and still harass me with statements to pay for a procedure I didn't even need. All they have to do is contact my insurance and send them a letter as to why they needed to do it and they still wont. TWO YEARS AND COUNTING. Go elsewhere. The people who deal with insurance there and the office managers are trash. read more

I am really sad about this review. I loved this office and the staff was great. My friend recently went since I recommended her. Riverpark Dentistry then informed her that she had 19 cavities and needed deep cleaning. She went for a second opinion and only had 2 cavities: I then went in to have a crown looked at that was done at this office. I had gone pre COVID and once my crown was put in I complained that the crown didn't feel right and that there was a gap. I was told I would get use to it. I was going to go back early 2020 regarding this crown but I cancelled due to COVID. This year i went in to finally have her look at my crown again and I was told it was fine. I then decided to go to two separate offices and the crown does not fully cover the vulnerable part of my tooth. I emailed this office and was told that they could replace it but i have to pay for the lab fee. I am honestly disappointed in this and the fact that I had complained about it as soon as It was done and even recently. Another red flag about this office is the pressure to do big procedures right then and there without even consulting insurance. Again, I really liked this office and I am sad that I didn't see this sooner. I guess because I was comfortable and they are nice. read more

This is an efficient & competent Dental practice, loaded with all the advance dental equipment, dental techniques & referral relationship with oral specialist. But this is where all this technology & service conflicts with patient relationships, especially with older patients who may have a larger list of dental services required. It would be better to stage the "need to do" first and then discuss the optional services on a later visit, rather than trying to make the entire list sounds like a need to do to get it all done at once. I'm guessing that the Dentist & Dental assistants are very busy and it's hard for them to slow down for us Older Patients, who require a bit more dialog and discussion to have something done... read more

I have been using this dentist for several years and, unfortunately, felt that I needed to make a change. Like other reviews, the number of requests to post reviews is way over the top. During my next to last visit, I was told that an old filling needed to be replaced. When I arrived there was another dentist, whom I did know in the office. He told me that he would be replacing my THREE fillings. I know Dr. L was there because we said hi in the hallway. I opted to not have the work done and got a call from the office a few minutes later stating that my dentist would see me now. I went to another local dentist that told and showed me that I did not need any work. Older fillings show up darker on xrays than those using newer material but that doesn't necessitate replacement. read more

Do not go here. They maxed out my insurance in 3 months & had to pay around $2300 out of pocket somewhere else to fix the mistakes they made & that's not including the rest of the procedures I need to fix but can't afford to. I originally came here to fix the discoloration on my front tooth. We did a consultation to figure out my "desired" outcome. We decided with fixing the cavities I had, do a root canal on my front tooth/putting a crown & purchasing teeth whitening treatments which was an extra $600 out of pocket. I was told that they don't do the cavity procedures all in one sitting & that I need to make multiple appointments. The first visit I had a few teeth filled & scheduled my next appointment for a week & a half later. Later that same day I had pain on the teeth that had been worked on & called the next day & was told the filing needed to be shaved down & to wait until my next appointment & to take Ibuprofen & Tylenol until then. The next appointment they shaved down the filings they originally did & worked on the other side of my mouth. As soon as the numbing medicine wore off both sides of my mouth were hurting. I called the 2-3 days later and they scheduled me the next week and told me to continue taking pain reliever. I was taking these pain relievers daily and maxing out on the daily dosage. I finally got in & they shaved down all the fillings they worked on & told me it's normal to feel pain for the next week or two because my teeth have been through "trauma." I waited another week & a half until I finally couldn't handle the pain any longer. They got me in that same day to have an examination & they decided to redo one of the cavities that was bothering me the most. It was the Christmas Eve that I had the procedure done so their office was going to be closed the next day but they do have an emergency line. After redoing the cavity I went home and my mouth was swollen and sore. I didn't think anything of it because It was just like any other filling I had done there. Painful. The next day my cheek was starting to swell and bruise and I was in excruciating pain. It was so unbearable that I called their emergency number trying to get in because The pain was so intense that I wanted to go to the emergency room. I called 3 times & left them multiple voicemails. They called me back the next morning & got me schedule for the first appointment of the day & at this point my cheek is the size of a golf ball. When I got there I told them that I needed the procedure done immediately because I could not stand to be in this amount of pain & I was told that they didn't plan on doing a procedure on me but wanted to examine my tooth. Once they saw how swollen my cheek was & the amount of pain I was in, they decided not to even examine me. They gave me a number to a specialist and said that they're not able to help me. I went to the specialist & was told that I had an infection on the tooth they worked on & that it had cut through my jaw Bone & was infecting my whole jaw & was continuing to spread. He prescribed me antibiotics & was able to do the root canal a week later but it was VERY EXPENSIVE. I did not return to the river park dentistry & decided to try a new dentist. My new dentist asked if I can send over my previous x-rays/files from my old dentist. When I asked riverpark dentistry to send over my x-rays/files they said they couldn't as it was something they weren't able to do, which is a lie because I am entitled to all my records. My New dentist decided to do new x-rays & informed me that the fillings were poorly done and they didn't completely fill one of the cavities they did. I ended up calling back the riverpark dentistry demanding for my files & they had the nerve to send me a bill that they forgot to give me. Not once did they call me asking me how I was doing throughout this whole process. Please do yourself a favor and don't bother with this place. They only care about your money. read more

I wasn't planning on adding a review on Yelp but this is now the third negative experience I've experience. 1st/2nd bad experience happened at different times but by the same person. The front desk costumer service women has not been pleasant to deal with. First, she's the first face you see when walking into their office and her attitude has not been pleasant at all. She told me in a rude way when I was done with my cleaning I could leave now since I was standing by her desk waiting for my receipt (like she always does) but instead she said, "you could leave now" and my response to her was "wow, enjoy your day" I do not appreciate how she feels dominant over the costumers. My 3rd bad experience is billing issues. I paid up front (close to $200) for a deep cleaning. Their rule is before being seeing for their cleaning you have to pay upfront first. Well almost 2 months later I get an email from them about a balance I still have. They mentioned that my insurance didn't cover a certain deep cleaning. Now bringing my bill to almost $270. If I would've known that I was going to be charged $270 I would've never gone in for a service but seeing how they broke down the billing and showed me what everything cost, how much my insurance was paying, and how much would be coming out of my pocket. I trusted them on this was the final bill. Not billing me out of the blue for an additional $70 claiming that my insurance didn't cover a service. I've never dealt with a dentistry that has caused me multiple problems before. OH! Actually I have a 4th complaint too. Wow. Cant believe I almost forgot about this one. They claim that they are military friendly but in fact they caused me such anxiety about an appointment. Back in October 2020 I had an appointment for myself that I completely forgot about it was scheduled on a Monday. Well it was my fault that I never called ahead to cancel my appointment but yet again I never received a phone call on their last business day of the week (Friday or Saturday) to confirm my appointment allowing me to cancel before their 48 hours request. Well that Monday I called to cancel and again the front desk women was awful she was rude and said I had to pay almost $100 if I wanted to cancel my appointment. My husband was currently on deployment and I had both my kids with me and no child care. I called 3 times that morning before my appointment asking if there's something they can do. Cancel my appointment without charging me or allowing me to bring my kids but because of COVID they declined them. I ended up finding child care. went to my appointment. But the complete question is why is it when I called in November all of a sudden they have a "no charge fee" on cancellations!? They gave me such a hard time on paying forward or not canceling my appointment all for them to just change their rules right after me. I'm over this back and forth with them. read more

Today was my first time at RiverPark Dentistry. Staff was super friendly. I love the reception lady Star she was super adorable! The ambiance of the entire office was so aesthetically pleasing. The pastel blues and whites with flowers made everything feel so calm and peaceful. They have TV's you look up at when you're laying down so you're not looking at nothing which is a plus. Dr. Lapiad super sweet and took care of me and listened to everything I had to say and even gave great advice. After looking at dozens of dentists office I'm glad I chose this one. Never been fond of offering the inside of my mouth to be a construction site. Among other things, the drilling, grinding, and needles has historically led me to avoid the experience if able. However, having found Dr. Lapiad's office, I look forward to having the chance at a decent smile again after neglecting maintenance and quitting smoking some years back. Friendly and professional personnel from the front office staff to the dentist herself with excellent communication across the board. The long term treatment plan offered after the first visit is a welcomed first for me as no previous doctors gave anything similar. The ability to watch Netflix while under the drill is a big plus to help calm the nerves. Like herself, I grew up in the area and left for school before eventually returning. It's great to see another person come back home to contribute to their community. read more
