I would caution using this business. They do not stand by their product. When I tried to discuss the issue I had with the owner he was incredibly unprofessional and accused my son of damaging his property! Even after his employee had told me that it was common and happens often. He refused to offer any type of compensation despite us not being able to use the complete tux. I guess when you're the only gig around you can treat your loyal customers anyway you want. I understand things happen but it is the lack of empathy and the accusations by the owner that makes this company not worth your your hard earned money. read more

I brought my 82 year old Dad to buy a suit for my mother's funeral. My parents had been married for 58 years and my mom was in Hospice. Upon hearing the situation, the gentlemen working there went out of their way to treat my father so kindly. They were patient and knowledgeable. My father had not purchased a suit since 1965 ( for his wedding) so the did a great job of catching him up on menswear. They assisted him with trying everything on ( which took a looong time given that he is in his 80s and very arthritic). The gave him choices, took extra care when measuring him, and went out of their way to make sure alterations would be done in the time frame needed. Christian helped us find exactly what we were looking for and took his time showing us a multitude of options we could pick from. When you send your son for a prom tux you expect him to look handsome and you hope he does a nice job picking something out for himself but I should not have worried one bit when I sent him to Main Street Formals. From the decorative buttons on the dress shirt to the fold of the pocket square, their attention to detail goes above and beyond. As I listened to the horror stories from the big box stores, I was so glad I made the right choice. (one well known competitor helped one of the boys on pick up day and watched as the button on the jacket popped off, shrugged, handed him the button, and let him leave with it that way). My very shy son said the staff was friendly, easy to talk to, and willing to share their expertise without disregarding his own personal opinion and style. Why give your hard earned dollars to another big chain when you can support a small local business that gives personal attention even to its younger clients when their parents aren't with them? We definitely love Main Street Formals! We rented a tux for an event a few days ago, and were so pleased with the level of personalized customer service! Brad is fantastic, and made the experience of selecting the tux and accessories super easy and fun! The vibe of the shop is also really awesome - don't be fooled by the rural location, when you walk inside, it's like you're transported back into the swingin' 60s with Sinatra posters on the walls and quirky variety shows on a flat screen TV. I don't generally leave reviews, but we were so happy with Main Street Formals that my husband asked me to. We got married in September 2020, and over the summer my then-fiancé and I stopped by Main Street Formals to look at suits. To be honest, my fiancé was dreading going - he's not much of a shopper to begin with and he just wanted to be done with suit shopping! We went in and the staff helped us choose a couple of options to try on. He tried them on, chose one and was done. We bought the suit, which he later got tailored there, and I also bought ties for the groomsmen. The staff was always very helpful and we were generally in and out pretty quickly. They made suit shopping a pain-free process for us, which my husband was very grateful for! Highly recommended! read more

Wish I could leave zero stars, never have I been so mistreated. I brought a pair of pants here to be fitted for my father. Long story short, they ruined the pants for $73.00. It looked like there was a custom diaper pocket in the back. The seat of the pants were literally hanging down to the back of his knees. Not only that but they wouldn't give a refund. Instead they belittled both my parents (they are Portuguese and their English is limited) mind you, in front of other customers. It was embarrassing to say the least. To top it off, the psychotic woman that was working there was screamed "go, go, go leave! I'm with customers!!" multiple times making shooing gestures at the same time. Never again, I'd rather drive to Boston or Providence to get work done by competent and courteous humans, not animals like the back wood bumpkins that own this place. read more

I am absolutely thrilled to write a glowing review for this outstanding suits and tux shop. This was recommended from a friend at work, minutes before I committed myself to driving to the nearest outlet and paying top $$$$ for a tuxedo for my wedding. My first recommendation is to meet with Rob (owner, artist, awesome dude extraordinaire) and that's pretty much about it. In contrast to the available options, all of which are terrible, Maintreet Former has a myriad of suits, tux, shirts, and all sorts of accessories. During my brief meeting with Rob, he got my suit size, listened to all of the unique requests, and made every accommodation feasible and affordable. When I went to a competitor's shop, each day of tux rental is $150+ per day, in comparison, Rob offers a great rental fee of $150 from Thurs to Monday, incredibly convenient with a friendly attitude and expertise that is missing in many soulless suit stores. If you buy a suit, the prices can add up, but with tailoring, +/- vest, shirts, the total cost is still very reasonable. In addition to getting suit advice, Rob gave me a bunch of tips on the ins and outs of the fashion world, as well as urgently needed suggestions on shoe-purchases. After my initial meeting, I will plan on coming back for tailoring and buying the tuxedo. I will likely NEVER go to Men's Wearhouse or Joseph A Banks and I will only recommend everyone to come here for any and all suit purchases. read more

I've been going to main st formals ever since I was a little kid. I remember getting suits for graduations, confirmations, weddings, etc. throughout the years. This time I had a funeral to attend and because of location for everyone. I called another place in Fallriver . The gentleman that answered the phone seems overwhelmed that we needed 4 suits and he only had a day and a half to get them done. As I didn't want to take any chances we went to Main st. Formals we were greeted with a smile and with no delay the tape measures came out and we were trying on jackets. "Tomorrow morning they will be ready" he said. The next morning I arrived at 10am and everything was good to go. I tried on the outfit and the coat needed some extra tailoring was told it was a 10 min job. Sure enough in about 10 min we were walking out of their. One of the things that I was really impressed with is that our tie was already tied for us. I'm sure after a couple YouTube videos it would of came back to me but that extra step puts the icing on the cake! read more

I've had all my alterations done here and have been very satisfied. I'm a bit rough on my clothes and has some tears here and there that I thought couldn't be fixed and it was fixed and you can't even tell. Good customer service. I never have to wait long for my alterations. I like the Frank Sinatra music too.... :) read more

All I know is two elderly people went to this place today and one of them left crying after being treated so badly by the people there. The alterations performed by this company were unsatisfactory. When the elderly couple expressed concern, they were berated, disrespected and embarrassed. Let this be a lesson for the owner(s) of this place: reputation is everything - you have tarnished yours. Take pride in your work and treat customers with respect. Put yourself in their shoes; you wouldn't expect to pay $70+ dollars for something you were not satisfied with so you shouldn't expect them to either. I have had two alterations on dresses and both were not satisfactory! The bottom hem line was slanted! Both hems were on time but the lining was longer than the dress hem. My advise... go to another seamstress. read more

I was able to get appointments at times that were convenient for me. I lived near Boston and commuted all the way to Acushnet for the alterations. He has incredible knowledge and attention to detail. My husband bought his suit in NYC, and we wanted to match the specific midnight blue color with less expensive suits for the wedding party. Robert made it happen! He worked to ensure that we could guarantee an order for this particular color run, even ordering multiple sizes for men who were in between sizes. Being a woman and coming to a tuxedo shop filled with men was a transition to say the least. During the first trial run to get the suit fitted the woman who helped me was great. She made the entire process completely pain less and made me feel comfortable. When we returned to pick up our suit, she continued to be helpful. However, the man who was working to fit the suit was very rude. He got into an argument with my fiancé to leave the back room where I was changing. When she stated she was waiting for her fiancé he said "yes well we'll take care of him and send him out when we're all set." At which point my fiancé said its not a "he" my fiancé is a woman. He then ignored her and said go wait out front. My fiancé explained to him that she was there to help me with the suit and make me feel more comfortable and he told her she could wait out front. As the argument ensued, we realized he was not going to ensure his shop was an accepting and friendly establishment. It was very clear that he did not care that his customer base was happy and had a great experience. Instead, he caused a scene and failed to realize that he made a situation that I was already semi-uncomfortable much worst for not only us but the other customers in the store. I have never experienced such poor business ettiquette from a business person nevermind a small business shop who runs their business based on referrals. I have had family members use this shop in the past which is why we decided to come here. However, I will never recommend this shop again based on how rude and disheartening the man running the shop was. *update to response by owner* Unfortunately the way in which the owner speaks below is just as rude as in person. I am a huge supporter of small businesses. The "bright red sign" he noted below is simply a sticker above the dressing rooms which was noticed after the fitting. Also, the fitting room area was empty at the time and my fiancé was standing against a wall next to my dressing room. This was not a problem presented by the woman helping us or the other man walking around who worked at the shop. Unfortunately, sir, there is also an old saying that you catch more bees with honey.
