Time for an update! This is my go-to place for groceries in Door County, and I was so happy to see they still had all the local favorites at great prices when we were vacationing here last week. On this trip we bought some amazing local plums, sweet corn and Door County coffee along with some meats for the grill, breakfast items and picnic goodies. Some apple strudels jumped in my cart too somehow.... It's always pretty quick to get in and out here, and they even bring your groceries out to your car for you. Save room in the car, leave excess food at home and just shop when you get up here! read more

We discovered this awesome market two weeks ago when we first came to Egg Harbor. The market has everything we needed to supplement our supplies for our RV stay while we are here. Everyone is friendly, and there us a great feel to the store. There are a lot of good choices we get back home and the prices are fair. What a great grocery store! This family owned Door County staple is a friendly, well stocked, organized and thoughtfully laid out store. The butcher has great cuts of meat, the deli had delicious salads and a nice variety of meats and cheeses, they have a decent wine/beer selection. The bakery has wonderful service counter items as well as breads, rolls, cakes and desserts. Their produce is always fresh. They also carry some non-food items that vacationers need like magazines, sunscreen, a few water toys and a few household basics. They have wonderful carry to your car service if you need it. Everyone who works there is friendly and efficient. They have long hours (for the Peninsula not to be confused with long city hours) allowing you to come in early and also grab ice cream if you need it at night. read more

Stopped in quickly this week for a few essentials and was pleasantly surprised with the wonderful selection. This little market/upscale convenience store was absolutely perfect for what I needed, and all customers and staff were pleasant. The aisles were well stocked and the whole place was extremely clean. This grocery has almost everything one would need, but when I was in there several days ago, NOBODY was wearing a mask. I was stunned and disappointed. Going forward, I'll be making the drive to Sturgeon Bay. Econo Foods and Pick N Save requires masks and staff wear them as well. read more

Door County seems to have no end of gourmet food or "specialty" shops (jams, fudge, stuff made with cherries, local fare), but there is a serious dearth of grocery stores. So I got lucky in that when my family was visiting Egg Harbor, we could have thrown an egg and hit Main Street Market (not that we would). This store, while on the small side by my big-city standards, was still complete (not like some of the general-store-looking storefronts calling themselves "groceries" in some of the other towns in Door County). Everything was clean, looked fresh, and had some aspects of the "gourmet" shops as well as the practical stuff that everyone needs. The aisles also had names that were amusing-yet-still-discernable-as-to-what-was-down-them (I particularly liked "Cannery Row"). Ideal spot for your household needs while up in Door County; Main Street is hard to beat. read more

I don't know how they do it but this medium sized grocery story is just the best!! Can you imagine trying to keep the stocks shelved with the myriad of "different" items that the thousands of visitors want who are spending a few days to a couple weeks in Door Co. and then also satisfying your locals?! Each time I come here during my sojourn in Door I'm impressed by the quality, the variety, the friendliness and the great service. They even take your groceries out to your car AND NO self-service lines!! Where else do you get that kind of service? KUDOS to the store's team! read more

Egg Harbor has a population of 201. Despite that, their tiny corner market is a better grocery store, cheese shop, and wine shop than just about anywhere in Appleton, WI (pop. 80,000). We always stop at this tiny grocery as we head North in Door County. Truly a gem if you are looking to put together a picnic on the beach. read more

On balance, a good little grocery store. Positives: An impressive selection of wine and beer. All the basics covered. A nice place to pick up local newspapers. Very convenient (right off the "main drag") It's now the only(?) place in town where you can rent DVD's. I love their little routines in the 4th of July parade. Too cute. Negative: The produce section is a bit small and sad (which is unfortunate, because that's usually the main thing I want to buy there.) Neutral: It's a little expensive for a grocery store, but not really *too* bad considering the huge convenience factor. Relative to the places I normally shop in NJ, this seems pretty cheap, actually. read more

Out of all the markets this one was the best. They really have everything and not only that, they had some good stuff. Its probably obvious, but they had really good cheese (from the whips to the dips). They also have a pretty decent alcohol section to choose from (for such a small shop). Staff was very friendly! I'm an out-of-towner from Chicago (yes, one of those people) and I can say that I'm thoroughly impressed by MSM. Having access to several Chicago-area big-box grocery chains, local neighborhood stores, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods (no Whole Check jokes here ;-) , ) I can say that MSM definitely sets themselves apart with great selection and reasonable prices. I was perusing the aisles while my s/o was shopping for yogurt. Who knew you could find a selection of Indian and other ethic foods here? And the wine selection? Excellent. Variety of beers in stock? You bet. Local signature Door County products? Yup! They carry some of the things that I would normally find at specialty grocers back home. And everyone is friendly. Its just a pleasant shopping experience. Bottom line, Piggly Wiggly's got nothin' on Main Street Market. The only reason I would not shop here when I'm visiting the Door is because I had to drive too far; but with a selection as they have, too far isn't quite so bad. read more

The best grocery store we have ever been to, we live in Egg Harbor and we shop here several times a week, the produce is fantastic, the bakery is fantastic, their meat department is spectacular (real butchers and hand cut top tier meats), their beer, wine, and liquor selection is world class. Add all this to a level of service you just don't see anymore and it makes it an absolute joy to shop there, they will bag your groceries for you, they take your groceries to your vehicle and help load them in your vehicle for you and they take the cart back in for you too. Grocery stores are in short supply in Door County but the Main Street Market would be welcome in just about any town. A large wine and liquor selection (really!), deli counter, premium cheese (well, it is Wisconsin), great craft selection of craft beer, a bakery, and fresh veggies. And on our latest visit they even began carrying your groceries to the car. When I offered to tip the guy, he said tips aren't allowed, "store policy". If they weren't 5 hours away I'd do all my shopping there. read more

This is our Favorite of the local markets. You will find EVERYTHING you are looking for here! They have an amazing selection of local Beer and Wine as well as all of your favorites. The liquor department is a great reason to stop. Magazine rack like I have never seen, great fresh produce and a wonderful deli. The folks that work here are helpful as well. We love the popovers from the bakery that are made fresh daily. When you are traveling and in need of items for your rental or seasonal home... this is a great place to go. You will find all of the local favorites in one spot here. So if you missed stopping at some of the local breweries to stock up before you head home... head here to do it! plenty of parking and access to downtown Egg Harbor. read more

In Door County north of Sturgeon Bay there are really only two full-service grocery stores. The Main Street Market is the best. In fact it is one of the better all around grocery stores I have been to, even outside of Door County. Their selection of grocery items is excellent. They have many items not found at a standard grocery store. Their deli is very good with a nice selection of ready made items. Their meat counter has very nice cuts of meat and the butcher is very helpful. They also have a very well stocked and wide selection of wines, beer and spirits. If they have any fault, maybe the bakery or fresh produce selections are only average. All their produce items are fresh and in good condition, just not a very wide selection of items. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Their standard practice is to carry your purchases to the car for you and that is very nice. read more

A very convenient place to get to with a great selection of provisions when vacationing has only one thing in common with White Hen Pantry: high prices. I was actually extremely disappointed when I got here knowing that I have read all the awesome reviews. Perhaps I expected too much or just spoiled by the low cost food in Chicago? Anyhow, we purchased a couple of necessities for the night, such as soup and baby food, and ventured out 15 miles to Sturgeon Bay for the nearest Walmart, Target, and Pick N Save. read more

Best grocery store in the county. The prices are a bit higher than the norm, but I think it's worth it to pay a couple dollars extra to support a Mom & Pop grocery store. I'm not going to lie, I've only been to Main Street Market to buy two things: meat and beer. The meat now gets purchased pre-trip at Costco, and the beer mainly at the Pic N Save, but for those of us who miss the turnoff, we stop at the Market. It's adorable with a nice selection of deli meats, produce, cheese, and anything else you need for your Door Country stay. The staff is friendly and helpful, the store is bright and clean. There's ample parking. What more could you ask for? read more

I wasn't sure what this place was and I'm glad I walked in. I work at The Cherry Hut and there are plenty of people who come in and ask where they can get groceries and other house hold items and sending them all the way to Shopko or Sturgeon Bay just seems wrong. Well, from now on I will be sending people here! I was pleasantly surprised at all the items they offer here. Groceries and tons of wine, spirits, beer and ciders. Very expensive as far as groceries go. I paid $4 for some Oscar Meyer hot dogs. I guess it makes sense though because of their being so far away from everything. They have a large variety of the things most people buy on vacation like alcohol and snacks and such. The bakery is good and the service was too. There was a young guy working and carrying elderly people's groceries out to their car and he wouldn't accept the tip that was offered to him. read more

I love Door County. A lot! But there is one thing that is frustrating about being there...all things practical close at 5pm. So, there was not a lot you can do if you run out of a needed item, such as cooking spray, after 5 pm. Until...a friend told us about Main Street Market. We were pleasantly surprised to find them open until 9pm. We were also able to find the items we were looking for...wine, cheese, and Pam cooking spray (the wine and cheese were more luxury items). The cooking spray was essential to cooking breakfast in the morning. read more

The best grocery store for miles in Door County. We are there daily when in DC. Great selection of beer and liquor. The best part is the custom sandwiches in the deli. Fill out the form and hand it to a deli attendant; in a few minutes you'll have a tasty sandwich with anything you want on it, all for just a few bucks. I also recommend the macaroni salad and pasta salad. Grab a Baumeister soda on your way out! read more
