We stopped in to see if we could get the items we wanted for dinner without heading back to the supermarket. We were successful! We found some locally made bratwurst, Door County goat cheese spread, crackers, and asparagus. It is good we like asparagus as this was the only fresh vegetable available. They have some nice gift items as well. This is a nice option for picking up a few things, but definitely don't expect to get everything you'd need for a full vacation's worth of provisions. This is an inviting market with an eclectic selection of clothing, liquor, and a deli.  The clothing and liquor mark-ups looked pretty significant and it's a very touristy shop.  Most of the clothing is downstairs in an On Deck outlet store.  It's a nice shop to drop in on and check out though as you are putzing around on Fish Creek's Main St. read more

Nice little market along the main drag in Fish Creek. We stopped here to get some milk for some hungry hungry kiddos, and while here decided to pick up some sandwiches for lunch since the have a kitchen in the back. The sandwiches were great, and we took them over to the park near the water to enjoy the weather and scenery. While it's not a market that you'll find everything you need at, they have stuff for your evening in the cabin or picnic. Lots of wine and beer, as well as cheeses, meats, crackers, condiments, produce, lavender, and so on. They also have souvenirs. Our favorite little market in downtown Fish Creek. When we were there in the Fall of 25 they seemed to be adding an area in the back for food, that would be a great addition. Whenever we're up in Door this is a must stop, they have very high quality stuff and most is local. They have expanded the alcohol selection in recent years. The sandwich was a decent enough size that we were able to split it and both be satisfied. It was delicious, too! Stopped in just to see what they had available. Large selection of items but when we saw the selection of freshly made to order sandwiches, we had to try them. I had the turkey (Gold Standard), my wife had a vegetarian (Plant Parent), We both LOVED them. We also each had a bowl of tomato soup, which was excellent. Very reasonable price for what you get. When you are in the sticks, a local grocery store can be a life saver. This grocery store is quaint and although pricey and you may not be able to find everything you need (remember, you are in the sticks!) it serves its purpose. We entered this grocery store and we're assaulted by a delicious smell that we were told was todays special soup, white fish chowder. It was in the process of cooking and would not be ready for a couple of hours. We purchased the few items we came in for and left with a promise that we would be back. As we toured around we discovered a Chain grocery store at the town north of Fish Creek where we were able to find what we couldn't in Fish Creek. We returned to Fish Creek Market to pick up the white fish chowder as we had promised as we were not disappointed. It was a creamy blend of vegetables and chunks of delectable white fish in a white base and I wish I had a whole vat to take back to our condo. Perfect for a cool and cloudy October day. read more

Like I've stated in other Door Co. reviews, if Chicagoans are complaining about the prices, they must be high. In all seriousness, they are high. But this is a gourmet BOUTIQUE market on Main St. in Fish Creek. What do you expect? It's not designed to help you purchase a week's worth of groceries on your family vacay/gal pal getaway. Unless, of course, you're a millionaire. My husband and I were walking around in Fish Creek on a Friday afternoon and stopped in here to browse. They had a little bit of everything, including a very nice wine and spirits section. Deli area was closed down for the day (or maybe the season because we visited during the 'off' season) and they carry your above-average every day staples. Door Co. coffee was the most expensive here; compared to all of the other places we visited in the area that sell it. I didn't pay too much attention to individual prices on merchandise, as we weren't intending to buy anything. However, a 12pk of LaCroix was about $8. This is a small space, so plan to bump elbows with other customers if there are more than a dozen people in the store. There was a basement, but we didn't venture down. I think there may have been another business down below. 4/5 stars because there was only one employee working. He didn't greet anyone who came into the store, nor did he ask any of the customers if they needed assistance. He wasn't busy, so it would have been nice to see a little effort on his part. Customer service is huge to me. A little interaction at a business like this that's heavily supported by tourists is important. This market has new owners and what a breath of fresh air! The market is well stocked and clean. The owner was on site and he was very pleasant and helpful. I was able to buy local fish that was flash frozen. It was excellent. I am so happy to be able to shop there again. I had avoided it the past two years due to a very rude former owner. Selection changes every year. We use this grocery store for quick items, similar to a grocery mart at a gas station. You wouldn't be able to stock up on groceries for the week here with their minimal or no selection of vegetables and few fruit items. But, they have snack items when in a pinch. There are new owners at the Fish Creek Market, according to their interview in the Door County Advocate, they state that there would be no changes to their famous Norwich sandwiches. You only need to try a sandwich once to realize these are not the same. The rolls are no longer baked in house, they taste "day old" or frozen and defrosted. My chicken salad did taste the same however, it was only 1/4 inch thick. My husband's beef and cheddar was approximately half the beef and cheddar as when Jeannie and Mike owned the store.
