Main Street Pizza is an icon in the enchanting, little village known as Ovid, Michigan. If you've ever had the chance to visit Ovid and stay for a spell you more than likely have devoured a slice of the cheesy heaven known as Main Street Pizza, or at the very least spotted one of their menus posted up on somebody's fridge. If you know someone from Ovid, chances are they either worked at, or somebody in their family worked for Main Street Pizza at some point. It's like a rite of passage for Ovid teens. I don't get to hang out in Ovid very often. I'm probably there once a year or even once every other year, but I know that no Ovidian adventure is complete without a pizza from Main Street. Visiting Ovid and not having a Main Street pizza would be like going down to New Orleans and not having some jambalaya or crawfish. Or going to New England and not feasting on a bowl of clam chowder. It's just wrong. Is Main Street the best pizza in the whole, entire, fucking world? Probably not, but for a small rural community on the outskirts of Owosso it's pretty damn delectable. I wish we had one here in Louisiana. The pizza is very satisfying. If you have a hankering for a straight up, classic, cheesy pizza with no bullshit you will definitely be very pleased. The prices are reasonable and the pizzas tend to be huge and the toppings ... Good Lord! They do not scrimp on the toppings. Back in the day before I turned vegetarian, I used to order their Hawaiian pizza quite a bit. The pizza would literally be heavy from all the ham and pineapple. By pineapple I'm talkin' about big, huge-ass, honest-to-God chunks of fresh, juicy pineapple. The sweet juices from the pineapple would merge with the gooey cheese .... Mmmmm. So freaking divine. Naughty for your arteries, but nonetheless divine. As other reviewers have mentioned they do have bread sticks, wings, subs, and salads. I have only had the pizza so I can't comment on anything else, but I have seen their salads and just like their pizzas they are huge with generous amounts of toppings such as tomatoes, cheese, croutons, and hardboiled egg. They also advertise take-and-bake pizzas (ala Papa Murphy's) and gluten free crust is available. Can you believe it? Gluten free in Ovid! Hallelujah! Praise Baby Jesus! Who would have thought? The icing on the cake- these dudes are open until midnight on the weekends. When we were visiting our Ovid peeps back in July, my brother-in-law decided somewhere around 11pm or so that he had a hankering for some Main Street. He called them up and his pizza was ready for him piping hot and awesome within 20 minutes. Pizza tastes even after midnight. Just don't feed it to the Mogwai. read more

I've grown up and left home, and had a lot of good pizza, but Main Street pizza still can't be beat. It might be partly due to the fact that I grew up eating this pizza, but I can't make a trip home to visit my family without getting it. I live in Ovid and have so for the last 5 years, I have been going to main street ever since I can remember, I grew up in Ithaca and lived in St. Louis and have been to almost every main street there is in Michigan. I have always loved the taste, but unfortunately the reason I must give Ovid a one star rating is not because of the taste, but the customer service. Like I said I have been going here for the last five years, and recently something stinks! We didn't have a problem until I started buying dough and sauce plus toppings to make our own pizzas with the kids, we didn't have much money and wanted to still have that great main street taste and have a special time making it, but that all changed when the shorter older lady started getting snappy and over charging us. Before I was paying about 10 dollars for all the stuff to make a large pizza, which I thought was reasonable since they weren't making the pizza or cooking it for us, we were just buying the raw ingredients, but then this lady started MEASURING everything and charging for every oz and i do not know how they came up with the pricing because it makes NO SENSE because when everything was said and done I ended up paying close to 16 dollars for a large with fewer ingredients then a specialty pizza would be which was outrages! And this didn't stop either, she forced everyone to do the same thing and when I opposed her pricing she would snap at me and anyone else in the kitchen, a very rude person. It saddens me to see such customer service and outrages pricing from one of my favorite places to eat. After that i stopped buying the ingredients and would order here and there and noticed they were skimping out on a lot of the toppings. Whenever I ordered a sub in the past it was packed and now it's almost paper thin between the buns. It's not everyone there that does this, only a couple bad eggs there. But today was the final straw. I have been going through some medical issues and been staying away from certain foods including pizza, but I wanted one and noticed that main street offers gluten free crust, so i was excited, but to my horror when i called and asked for gluten free crust i was immediately met with a very demanding tone, "Are you allergic to gluten or something?" To which I responded, "well that's kinda invasive, but yes I am. You know that's confidential information right?" To which she said, "what" and I explained to her how that is not ok for a business to ask a CUSTOMER their medical history! It's one thing if the customer wants to tell you, but you are not allowed to demand it over the phone like that. After I explained this to her I asked her why she would need to know something like that and she said, "because i need to know if i need to wash my hands and keep everything separate". (I'm thinking no you don't need to know my medical history to do that, just treat every sale like that and DO IT, that's what you should be doing anyways!) So i get over to pick it up and pay for it and she charges me extra because it's gluten, but didn't tell me she was charging me extra and never asked if that would be ok. I end up getting charge 9.25 for an individual pizza that has gluten free crust, but was never told until i payed for it. I immediately asked her why she overcharged me because an individual is supposed to be 6 something and she blamed it on the owner and mumbled under her breath very disrespectfully saying she just works here. In conclusion the food is great at any main street, but I would caution anyone from going to the Ovid one, because their customer service and business savvy is extremely lacking and it saddens me to say that. We stopped during our bike ride (Next to Fred Meijer-Clinton-Ionia-Shiawassee bike trail.) Bar is surrounded by a big brown fence, but these external looks are definitely deceiving. Inside is very inviting with pine tables and walls. Looks like the man cave I always wanted to build. Cod sandwich and fried mushrooms tasted excellent and price was very reasonable. Beer came in frosted mugs. (Other establishments should learn from this!) 10-beers on tap. Huge TVs on walls, perfect for the Olympic Games. Staff was friendly and attentive. Free wifi without secret password horse crap. We will stop here again! read more

For being a little town Ovid sure knows how to make a Pizza right. Not to mention the subs are to die for. When you get that late night hunger, this is the place to call. This establishment has good pizza but if you wish to order the subs you might as well get more than one. The subs are very tiny and they do no "fill you up" as much as other places. The variety of subs is lacking too. If you want a sub you might as well go to Foo g's in Elsie (5 minutes from Ovid) or go to Mancino's in Saint John's (10 minutes) west of Ovid. Their pizzas are good though. I personally recommend the BLT pizza. read more
