Awesome!!! I eat here 1 or 2 times EVERY week (for many years). This is simply and consistently the best Mexican food in the area at a very reasonable price. Servers are very friendly. If you really want to experience the best they have, try their dinners such as chicken surprise or steak surprise. Also enchiladas and chimichangas are great. Fajitas are delicious, but very high priced here, so I do them very rarely. Most other meals are very reasonably priced ($7 - $9). Regular tacos are kind of plain - so don't expect to experience their best with a simple taco. Kitchen closes at 9pm. Sometimes (depends who is working) the bar tender tries to close-up the restaurant early, so don't be surprised if you arrive after 8pm and you are made to feel like you are keeping them there too late. I wish the owner would put a stop to this, but he don't. I deal with that anyway because the food is so good and the waitresses are so nice. read more

I was at Main Street station for the first time with my best friend. My infant son was making noise and we were doing everything that we could to keep him quiet. When the owner/manager asked me to take my child outside. I was also yelled at by a customer because my child was making noise and was told by another customer to control my child. I felt absolutely disrespected and unwelcome in a restaurant. I was told by many customers that it was ok children make noise and to enjoy our dinner. I also had many customers apologize for the manager acting the way she did along with many employees apologizing for her actions as well. I will never return here. read more

I lived within walking distance for about 6 years and heard nothing but good reviews of their food, and I finally tried it and I was definitely a fan. I've only tried a few different menu items so far but I've liked them all. Their homemade chips are delicious, the cheese dip appetizer with chorizo is the best thing I've tried so far, a large comes with 2 containers which is more than enough for the amount of chips you get. The fajita nachos, chicken quesadilla, and enchiladas are all amazing too. I've heard they have good margaritas, I can't wait to go in and try them. I've only ordered carry out so I've only been to the bar area, it's a small looking place from what I've seen. The owner and the staff are all very friendly. My only complaint is that sometimes the food isn't consistent, one order of fajita nachos came loaded with steak and cheese and then a week later I ordered again and it barely had any. read more

We went here for the first time over the weekend. The interior is dingy and smells weird and musty. The service wasn't great, probably because there were only two servers for the entire place. The food wasn't good; I got the beef tacos and the beef didn't taste right at all. I also got a sunset margarita which was watered down and not that great. Overall, we won't be back. read more

What a BIG disappointment we come to this place allot we knew Cinco de Mayo was going to crowd but this was crazy!! I guess if you have better help maybe it wouldn't of been so bad..the bartender with the jet black hair and raccoon eyes was sooooo RUDE!! Let me start out by saying Im not a huge fan of mexican food. I think it all tastes the same no matter what you get or where you get it from. Just kinda ok nothin special sometimes tastes like barf. Anyways.....then theres main street station. The place is a total dive! Parking lot sucks and lets face it, its a train station which means you get the occasional whistle which can be distracting. It seems you dont get your food until an hour after you order (every time I swear) plus to get the check normaly takes 20 minutes, due to the wait times the place is always packed. Your probly asking why would I be giving it 5 stars after a big hate rant, well let me tell you. The food is AMAZING!!! Yeah you have to wait an hour for it but they give you chips and salsa right away. The salsa is excellent, chips could maybe go for an upgrade but itl hold you over. Im cheap too, always thinking Im geting over charged for stuff, not here. No matter what you get it will exceed your expectations. You get huge portions and in my opinion very inexpensive. Everytime I go its the same story:get there, bitch about the parking, complain how hungry I am while Im devoring chips and salsa, followed by grunting making noises due to the flavor orgy in my mouth from my order, baggin up the rest for lunch the next day and end up giving the waitress like a 30%+ tip because I always think the bill shoulda been more. We love coming to this restaurant JUST for the food.Their food is excellent, but the service is always slow. It seems that they only have one or two servers working for their 15+ tables. So if you are not in a hurry, or don't mind a long wait for your food or drinks, come in to enjoy the food. Their menu is reasonably priced as well. read more

My family and I went there on Monday, June 9, 2014 for dinner, having never been there before. It was close to where we needed to drop off my step son and daughter-in-law. The chip with salsa they gave us at the start were excellent and free flowing. We then placed our orders. When we got the food and ate it, it just didn't taste that good. The taco I ordered has some kind of cheese on it that was a cross between Velveeta and cheddar...just weird. The tamales were steeped in some gross gravy. Gravy on tamales? I had never heard of that before and the gravy was scraped off as best as we could. The cheese fries were the only decent thing we ate during the meal. And ever since that night, I personally have been sidelined by some sort of stomach pain...I think I may have caught a virus from the place. No way to prove it, but it is the only place we had been when I started feeling sick. Never again! read more

This has to be some of the worst Mexican food my wife an I have ever eaten. Extremely bland, hers was very cold, I had to dig through my carnitas to pull out the lard they decided to mix in with it. We love the food at Main Street Station. The salsa is delicious, and any main dish we have ever ordered has been tasty! They have food specials every day too, so you can get a good deal. They usually also have coupons in the coupon clipper and/or on planit northwest. The service is usually ok. Not great, but good. Margaritas are not very strong, so they are are a but pricey for what you get, but they usually have a drink specials too. Overall, it is our favorite mexican restaurant around. read more

If your looking for Taco Bell grade Mexican food this place is your go to. The place is in need of updating and has an outdated vibe. BEST FAJITAS ANYWHERE! The steak fajitas with all the sides are what keeps us coming back for the past 25 years. Margartias are another draw. It may not be upscale Mexican food like some places in Chicago, but it gets my vote. By the way, the darkness gives it character: don't forget the building is a 100 year old train station. read more

Definitely one of the better Mexican Restaurants in the area. Staff is always a pleasure. Dollar Tacos night is a great time to try this restaurant out. Homemade salsa is to die for and I recommend sitting at the Bar if your group is small on Mondays. Been going here for years and will continue to for years to come. read more
