Quick friendly service and reasonable prices! We had a medium hot fudge sundae and a small snickers in vanilla ice cream. Both were generous sized. Service was quick and friendly.

We recently were on a fam' roadtrip through part of the Midwest and stumbled on adorable and historic West Branch, Iowa. We ended up here when we saw signs on the highway for the Herbert Hoover National Site. It was a hot day, and after walking around to see the Hoover attractions, we spotted some people strolling by with ice cream cones in hand. So naturally we headed in that direction! :-) Main Street Sweets is a small ice cream and snack shop. There were no non-dairy options, but our vegan daughter could indulge in a slush puppy. The rest of us had ice cream cones. They only have soft-serve here. The cones weren't huge, but the ice cream was very good, very creamy. I had mine laced with the orange flavor swirl, which made it a creamsicle flavor, just delicious! There are tables inside and out, and the staff was very friendly. If you find yourself strolling West Branch to explore Herbert Hoover history, or for any reason, and you have a hankering for some soft-serve ice cream, Main Street Sweets will hit the spot! :-)

Great location, cozy setting, and good eats! Very close to where I live so it has become my standard meeting place with clients and guests.

I reviewed my options cause the menu seemed to change since my last Subway visit. The other two individuals came out, and you could hear the comments to each other. This was a bit of a turn-off in the dining area. We get up to the line and order. No problems. Just like all other Subways. No surprises. We are getting one meal to split. The individual who rang us up had some difficulty, and it reflected in her attitude. The clashing of personalities behind the counter was very apparent. The restaurant cleanliness 5 stars compared to other Subways. The food 5 stars compared to other Subways. Fresh, delicious, done well, and as ordered. The overall customer service is 4 compared to other Subways. The employees attitudes overall came across childish and it can be heard by all in the dining area. There are some good training opportunities here.

The usual stereotype I have of a butcher is a really beefy and gruff dude with chronic meat sweats, who pals around with a baker and candlestick maker (why is that a job btw, that seems like a hobby at best). These guys don't look like that- giving me a lesson in stereotypes and judging books via their cover. The ice cream and pies on offer looked tantalizing, but we came in for dinner first. We ordered 2 hot sandwiches and swapped halves so we could enjoy sampling more on our first visit. We tried the Italian Stallion and the Great Dane sandwiches, both on sourdough, with fries on the side. We loved both sandwiches, but thought the Great Dane was better. The American Fries are actually roasted, seasoned new potatoes (not fried potatoes), but they were delicious! For dessert I had to go with the classic banana split because they are hard to come by. Amazing! I highly recommend this place if you are in the area!

Luckily, it wasn't too busy, so the bartender leaned over the half wall and let us know how to order. It's all self-service and you actually have to walk up to the counter to place your order, pick up your utensils & plates, and clear your own table. We had the ultimate cheese bread with dipping sauces (both the Alfredo and marinara were delicious!) and also ordered a large Herb's Heaper pizza with olives on half only. Pizza order was accurate and came out quickly, had the perfect amount of sauce and toppings, and was loaded with cheese. A good solid 8/10 for both breadsticks and pizza. The only downside is that the bar and the pizza are on separate operating systems and the bar didn't take debit cards. I had to withdraw cash at the bar ATM to get a beer to go with my pizza, which was inconvenient. Now that we know the quirks, we'll bring cash for the bar and will know how to order next time. By the end we were famished! So we decided to pop down the street to this hole in the wall pizza spot. It was happenin'. There's no waitstaff. You order at the window and they hand you an old school ticket.... it takes a minute for your order to be made. Don't forget to listen for your number! They only yell it once or twice then just let it sit in the window, waiting for it to be claimed. We got the cheesy bread (A GOTTA-TRY) -- I am a breadstick snob, these were legit and the marinara was fab. The pizza is thin crust, and hit the spot. The cheese and pepperoni were piping hot. Seating is limited and large parties could be accommodated but it could take a minute to make a table large enough. We had 11 and were able to squeeze into two tables by the front window, luckily. (That being said it was an off time, so if it had been a peak 'dinner time' hour-- we would have been SOL.) Overall, bang for buck was good. Parking is a non-issue. This wouldn't necessarily be as successful of a spot in bigger cities, but for West Branch-- you can tell this is a local favorite both for the food and as a watering hole. (The bar area was jam packed.)
