Worst Chinese food I had in a while. The rice was soft and smooshed together the spare ribs were not cook all the way thru. Paying regular prices but not good quality meal.

The WORST Chinese food experience I've ever had. My friend ordered chicken and broccoli and I ordered Vegetable Lo Mein. They assumed we wanted the lo mein as a side and put it all in one container. Minor inconvenience. I scooped the lo mein into a bowl and sat down to eat. In one of my last bites, I felt something crunchy in my mouth. I spit out my food only to find a STAPLE in my lo mein. The restaurant is giving me a refund but this is inexcusable. This was my first experience here and I certainly will not be returning.

Ma Po Tofu extra spicy ala Fujianese. Very good, they nailed the extra spicy!

Dropped by to check Main Wah Kitchen out based on a yelp friend's review and I was not disappointed, from the wonton soup to the Ma PO Tofu everything was clearly executed extremely well. What I found interesting was the unusually distinct yet subtle flavor differences in the wontons and the MPT. The Tofu dish was not the traditional Chengdu original but a Fujian take off which was hot, spicy and very tasty. Overall my experience was very good so good in fact it warrants another trip to Main Wah when I am in the area.

It definitely beat out KFC, PPEYE, and Bird Code in freshness was tender & crisp in all the right places. The service?!! Second to NONE! For fast food we've never been treated with better service straight to our table with courtesy and genuine favor. You'd have thought we were known or friends of the family. Staff were ALL busy taking orders, cooking, sweeping, cleaning! The Ambiance was air conditioned coolness, brightly entertaining w/ disco mirrored balls on ceiling, tables and chairs to accommodate all size parties (tidily clean not sticky) with high top to low top surrounded by LOCAL hero's on plaques who marked the area with their own success stories AND the story of "Raising Cane". LADIES!! Not to worry if you've had too much beverage! Restrooms are impeccably tidy and comfortably sized. Definitely not an afterthought. Check em' out and petition with me to help them get TIPS!! Servers are still very green, so a lot of them are still learning their role. The menu is simple. Chicken fingers, fries, sweet tea, and sauce. By keeping simple, they can really focus on doing those things correctly. The chicken was cooked well, and the caines sauce was creamy and slightly spicy. Price is pretty affordable. 6 fingers and two sauces coming out to 14 bucks. So not bad for the area. It's a specialty shop focused on chicken and chicken alone. It's good chicken, but if you want anything else you'll need to go someplace elsewhere

A stop on the way back to UCONN when I was a student there. The "go to" place after our kids' school events. Shortly after we moved to Manchester, over 38 years ago, the restaurant was closed for renovations. We were looking forward to seeing the revamped restaurant. Well, we were even more surprised when we stepped in the door - nothing had changed! Cleaner, perhaps new Naugahyde on the seats, but that mural on the wall was the same - those elves were timeless. When you sit down, you get a small paper cup of water. The menus are on the the wall - soups, sandwiches & ice cream. I'd always heard they had a patent on the way their cheeseburgers were made - a burger topped with crispy cheese. A must have. Prior to Covid, the condiments tray had ketchup, mustard & chopped onions. Now, there are packets of the condiments. No onions though. We shared an order of fries - crispy & good. I was too full to have ice cream after our meal, so we brought a half gallon (yes - a real half gallon) of our favorite flavor home - chocolate almond joy. Yum! Note - you need cash. No cards. There is an ATM in the restaurant.

Since it's a popular choice, expect crowds til late afternoon for lunch. I didn't notice their breakfast menu among those posted on the walls, but apparently it is served til 11am. As for lunch, the cole slaw is surprisingly superior to most if not all other diners/cafes. Though prices have increased with inflation, still a great value and more competitive than many other comparable places in the state. Furthermore, the consistent taste and nostalgic ambiance are all still intact. Main offerings are between-bread - i.e., sandwiches, so limited options if you have dietary restrictions like having to eat gluten-free (soups contain gluten; I didn't ask if any of the platters could be made GF though), but their iconic fried cheese is still available as an a la carte side. Ice cream flavors include seasonal highlights like pumpkin chocolate chip, and their shakes are generous and delicious. I recommend asking what additional flavors they have available that are not listed on the wall menu. If there are kids in your party, be sure to look out for the table placard with the Children's Menu; the kids in our group enjoyed the chicken platter which included fries, a drink, and 2 substantial breaded chicken fillets.
