This is our family's go to whenever we want Chinese takeout. We've tried multiple places in the area and nothing hits as good as Yang Zi Jiang. The portions sizes are great, the customer service is great. Small and clean area, I really wish they had a seating, but that doesn't stop us from taking out and eating in the car! I was working in the area four years ago and stayed at the HIE next door. I got their takeout and it was super good. I had leftovers the next night. When I found out I was coming back to the area, I dreamed about their Chinese food! I thought about what I was going to get. You can't imagine my disappointment because they are closed on Tuesdays. I ordered takeout today, from Yang Zi Jiang (Kelley Road in Vernon), and the Kung Pao Chicken is amazing! Lots of yummy sauce, chicken, carrots, a little celery, cut up pieces of baby corn, water chestnuts, tiny pieces of bell pepper (and I normally don't like bell pepper, but it didn't have much), and peanuts. I like it a little spicy. When I was ordering, the woman on the phone told me it's normally a little spicy, so I told her to make it extra spicy. I've found that their "spicy" dishes usually are not spicy at all. The "extra spicy" was perfect, and was really "medium spicy", not too much spice. When I picked up my order & got it home, it was still piping hot (the temperature). Also, I want to mention that they are taking the pandemic & customer's safety very seriously. When you walk in, there is an entire plexiglass wall, from the ceiling all the way flush with the counter, & it goes all the way across too. There's a baseball size opening at the bottom of the plexiglass for you to hand the cashier your cash or credit card. Then, when your order is ready, it's placed outside a little door to the left. So, if you like Kung Pao Chicken, theirs is much much better than any other Chinese restaurant in Vernon, Rockville, or South Windsor! read more

Our regular (5 star) Chinese restaurant is closed on Sundays and we've heard good things about Yang Zi Jiang so we finally tried it! Very good! Better than all the other places in the area we've tried but we still prefer our "go to". 2nd place is honorable though and we will order from here again. We kept it simple; egg drop soup and 2 combination dinners shrimp w/ mushrooms and beef & broccoli. Shrimp were fairly large and cooked well with nice firm texture. Soups, chicken teriyaki sticks, hibachi chicken, lo mein, fried mean,, crab rangoon.... all very good to excellant... not so good are the egg rolls (small and greasy), and tonight's dinner for me, sesame beef... cut too thin for any tenderness, felt like chewing leather. This is our go-to Chinese food takeout spot! The food is ready in a flash, and is always tasty! Our staples are the combo meals, usually sesame chicken, a combo meal with crab Rangoon and spicy shrimp with pork fried rice, and combo sampler platters. You will have plenty of food leftover, believe me! I really like their crab rangoon and the egg rolls are delicious. They have done a great job during the pandemic of adjusting how they do business, and we appreciate that the food is still great quality and priced well. They are also in a plaza with plenty of free parking, and they are right off the highway, too. Their fried rice is very flavorful; the Hot and Sour soup stands out as one of the better ones you'll find in the area. This is mostly a take out place. There are a couple of tables to sit down and have food. But I didn't see anybody doing it. Food was good and prices were reasonable. This is my favorite Chinese takeout in the area! It's cheap, delicious and really quick with pick up orders. Typically I write ASAP on the order and get there about 15 minutes later and it's ready! My fiancé and I love their wonton soup, pan seared pork dumplings, roast pork lo Mein and their chicken fingers! The portions are pretty big so we usually have leftovers for the next day which end up being even better! They recently started selling the sugar donuts which I love but kind of weird how they poke a hole through it to make it look like an actual donut. Seems like a lot of effort when it's just a Pillsbury biscuit deep fried but it still is pretty good! Definitely recommend Yang if you're in the Vernon area! Hmmm. Arguably the worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. This is not a fancy place...and that's ok, not looking for fancy when it comes to Chinese. But the food was awful. Absolutely tasteless lo mein, below average rubbery steamed pork dumplings, General Tso Chicken that was mostly devoid of chicken -- more like just fried batter chunks with General Tao sauce. Broccoli with garlic sauce was overcooked. The teenager who took our order at the counter screwed it up and we got the wrong thing but the lady there was very nice about it and replaced the order. I feel bad for her and don't enjoy giving out one-star ratings, but I review with accuracy. read more

The place is order at the counter with open kitchen and two tables (4 seats each) for eating in. There are two flatscreen monitors above counter showing the various food offerings. I ordered the L23 Shrimp Lo Mein ($6.50) and the L27 Mixed Vegetables with Chicken ($5.95), both served with pork fried rice and I got a spring roll and a pork teriyaki stick (1 of each). The food was cooked fresh to order quickly. The lo mein dish had soft noodles tossed with soft shrimp (cleaned), and a mix of vegetables (carrots, celery, sprouts, cabbage, scallions). The other dish had a mix of fresh vegetables (broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, cabbage, celery), baby corn, water chestnuts, soft pieces of boneless chicken in a brown sauce. The pork fried rice (golden) had a firm texture with a mix of peas, carrots, onions, and tender pork cubes. The spring roll was light and crispy filled with cabbage, carrot, and seasonings, slightly greasy. The pork teriyaki stick had a sweet flavor, which was tender and chewy. Overall, the food I had was very tasty and fresh. The service here was prompt and the food was ready to go in about 8 minutes. The location is very convenient off I-84 West. Take Exit 64 and make a right and another right into the strip plaza.
