The stepping stones, water features, and flowers provided a captivating backdrop. The photographer developed a friendly rapport with our son immediately, which worked wonders. We were allowed to change clothes during the shoot and had a wonderful relaxed day at the ocean capturing memories. Before I booked I asked if we would be provided a password-protected online web gallery with our proofs. I was told yes. That was a lie. About a month after the photo shoot we logged in to a screen-sharing program from Maine to Washington. We spoke on the phone with Lucia as she slowly showed us images to choose from. This was not a password-protected web page, this was a live duplicate of her computer's screen. From her desktop she controlled display of the images. She could click through on a thumbnail to enlarge a photo, and she could crop images if she so choose. She was driving. This was absolutely not a web page we could peruse at our leisure. The process of figuring out how much the package would cost was simply excruciating. To establish a price point we were told several times during the phone conversation, "The price depends on how many prints you get. I don't know how many you can't live without, so I can't answer your question now . . ." Seriously, that is a quote that I remember many months later. "I need to show you all of the photos before we can discuss price." Seriously. We asked four times and four times were told we could not discuss price. Then the sale needed be closed. Near the end of the call she proceeded to rattle off three or four packages which involved mental arithmetic so fast she lost my Microsoft software developer husband. We had to write down the prices. We had to ask her to and click on images, over, and over, and over. We couldn't see the images side by side. This may be shrewd business practice, but it is not the optimal customer service experience. The process bothered me a lot. The reason I felt so manipulated was because I was lied to about our being able to see the prints on a password-protected web page. That was false advertising. If you are reading my Yelp review and planning a photo shoot, please beware. If you do a wedding or other once-in-a-lifetime experience, I hope you can sign a contract in advance with the prices - not just of the shoot, but of the full package options. I did not ask for that in advance and I wish I had. Two more things I want potential customers to know: Number one, I had no itemized invoice. Yeah, that's kind of important, now that I think about it. I had no proof that I paid for a print to be shipped to my mother. When I called about a month after my mother's birthday I asked my mom about the print I had ordered for her. (Mom said she hadn't received anything.) I called Lucia immediately. Lucia checked my customer record, and said she could not immediately find an order for my mother. I persisted and asked her to look at my invoice. After several minutes she clicked a few buttons on her machine and said (with honest surprise in her voice), "Oh you DID order another print, but it was going to ship to another address." She apologized profusely. The 10"×10" print was sent to my mother; my mother was incredibly angry when I told her what happened. She said, "You should call the Better Business Bureau on them!" Number two, the company misrepresents the privacy practices they say there are providing to customers. Here is a quote from the e-mail that explained how I could get my digital download: "If you have any questions or problems downloading the filed [sic] please let us know, we will be happy to help! Once you have completed the download, please save it to your computer because the link on our site will only be available for download for [in red] 10 days." The digital downloads are still there today. The digital downloads of about a dozen other people are also there, with no password protection. The photography and resulting prints are five star work. Two stars means "meh, I've experienced better." I've worked with three other professional photography studios and never encountered this kind of foolishness.

She guided us from the start and asked many questions about the girls so she could create a positive relationship and find the perfect location to showcase them. Each location was unique to their personality and interests because Susan took the time to get to know them. Prior to the photo session, Susan welcomed us into her home for hair and makeup. Her make up artist, Cara French, was timely, well prepared, and also asked questions about the comfort level of makeup applied. Susan seemed to double as a photographer and hairstylist. Her attention to detail in creating the perfect look was spot on. The girls were thrilled with the outcome and felt confident and ready to have their pictures taken. During the photo session, Susan knew a lot about the girls and used their personalities to guide her in taking the best photos. For example, my oldest is an introvert. Because Susan took the time to learn this, she found a quiet location without distractions. She was kind and made my daughter take risks in smiling and posing naturally. Susan sent us a sneak peek of 5-6 photos within 24 hours of the session. In another 24 hours, our gallery was ready to view. Susan was able to crop, edit, and make subtle changes when asked. Even if it was extra, having a canopy or tent available would have avoided so much moving around of everything from start to finish. Felt bad for the couple an 90 people there. The space is incredible with the different areas as options for specific parts of the wedding or reception. Unfortunately, it also was dirty and greasy. Some examples: All the countertops were greasy and most of the available cookware and dishes were greasy, stained (that elbow grease removed) and/or had food remains on them. The vent in the room we had the rehearsal dinner in had thick black dust (maybe mold?) on it and the wall of windows were dirty inside and out. I had to ask an employee to pick food out of one of the trash cans, whose bottom was covered in black mold, before I could replace the trash bag. I emailed a more detailed list to Mr. Strunk and the venue and did get a response from Alexis that said "We will have a team meeting this week to discuss what we can do better with your review and revamp our in-house check list." I hope they do. Most of my concerns would not take a lot of time, money, or elbow grease to correct if they were completed on a regular basis. It seems as if there is no list of cleaning in preparation for an event. If there is, it isn't very comprehensive and/or the person responsible did not complete it. It wasn't until after the event that we saw the review of the venue that said a couple's meal was late because the caterers spent an hour cleaning the kitchen before beginning work. I want a venue with the same standards that that caterer had. This space is very cool, but the client should spend their time enjoying the event and not cleaning.

We opted for the 20 minute mini portrait session, which is perfect for what we wanted. Her 20 minute sessions are $100, which is an extremely reasonable price. We met at 6:45pm at the Portland Head Lighthouse (sunset was at about 7:10) and we knocked the session out. Christy knew exactly where to go around the Lighthouse to get the type of photos we wanted. She was super nice and easy to work with. After the session, she let us know we could expect our photos in about 2 weeks. If I were getting engaged or married in Maine, I wouldn't consider anyone else!

We had been planning our wedding for just under a year during the pandemic and although this was their first wedding season, you would've never known. My bridal party and I stayed the night before at the beautifully built bridal cottage, the hair and makeup team arrived and had plenty of space and lighting to set up in the air-conditioned cottage. The catering team and bartenders that we hired had plenty of space to set up and work, with a full bar and full-size refrigerator, sink for cleaning, and dedicated area for grilling and preparing. Our DJ was set up on the main level on the dance floor ensuring our guests had adequate space for proper celebration. Every question or request we had on the wedding day was answered and met, which was great because that meant we could relax with peace of mind knowing the ceremony site and barn would be ready! The venue itself is so incredibly maintained with acres of green grass, gorgeous hills (makes for excellent photos!), newly built bathrooms, and a brand-new fire pit/patio area, which our guests loved.
