Absolutely adore coming to Maines to get my hair done. Whenever I need a fresh chop I can rely on any of the stylists to help me out! Not to mention the hospitality is also top notch. I have been needing to, and *meaning to, write an updated review for Maines Salon. What began as a lucky draw on Yelp (randomly seeing it come up in the "Nearby" section) has been such a blessing for me! I continue to be thankful for Yelp and the connections it provides to me. Sydney is fantastic. Period. There's no iffs/ands or butts about it. I couldn't even begin to try to color my hair, even if I was brave enough to do so! I get so many compliments on my hair color and Sydney is supportive enough to entertain my *thousands of questions, and also directive enough to state her opinion on what she thinks I should do (or what direction to take my hair). This Salon is right on Main Street, across from the Bank of America. There's a great vibe inside, too. Sometimes there are small items for sale (earrings, necklaces, etc.) from local artisans which adds to the amazing ambience in the Salon. Every stylist here is beyond talented; I would recommend any of them actually. But, I can only base *my review and experiences with Sydney. :) Highly, highly, recommend Maines Salon. read more

I moved into the area a few months ago and found Maines Salon. From the first haircut appointment I had with Gretchen I knew I had found my salon. I had a balayage done a couple months later and loved it. Everyone who works here are really sweet. I have seen what they all do and they do amazing job. No matter who you pick, you wont regret it. I started seeing Sydney in 2018 because I had moved to the area and wanted someone who could do my hair for my wedding the following year. The first appointment I had with her, I fell in (friend) love with her! First of all, she's an awesome person with amazing energy to be around, secondly her skills are SO top notch. I see her a few times a year and always try ew things. She stays on top of her hair stylist education and we've done balayage, highlights, trims, cuts, curtain bangs, and color dye with pink! She's so so great. And so are the rest of her staff including Becca and Gretchen, even though she doesn't work where anymore. Nikki is the COLOR QUEEN I thought it would be smart to bleach my own hair (what the worst that could happen? ) Not my best thinking that was a disaster! Nikki has never done my hair before but I sent her pics of my mess and she assured me she would be able fix it. She was able to get me in the next day and she was fantastic. She knew exactly what to do and how to achieve my desired look. (I've been 2 others before Nikki and they were not able to get close to the look I wanted) I will definitely be going back to Nikki for all my hair care and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone! I normally get my hair cuts in Orange County but due to a newborn baby, I haven't been able to go. In much need of a hair cut and some self love, I decided to find a hair salon here in Ventura county. With a lot of excitement and some angst, I scheduled to get my hair cut with Sydney at Maines Salon in Santa Paula. If you're looking for a small mom and pop style, cute, quaint, and personal hair salon, then this is the place for you. Scheduling was simple and done online at her website. You get a text reminder too. There is a cancellation fee if you cancel less than 24 hours but be courteous, always reschedule in advance if you need to. Parking is self parking in public spots convenient located right in front of the salon. Although small, the place has an intimate feel. There's only room for prob 1-2 customers at any given time which is nice because of the personal attention. Sydney is young and hip so if that's a haircut you're going for, her style will probably do you justice. The only thing is I wish Ventura prices (40$) were a bit cheaper like Orange County prices (15-20$)! But if you're going to pay those prices anyways, at least do it somewhere you know you will receive good customer service and a great cut! You cannot go wrong with any one of them because they all do an amazing job and really care about each customer they serve. Plus they totally cater to you while you are in the chair! I've tried salons all over Ventura County. This salon has become my go-to! Each of the stylists are super friendly and experts in what they do. I had my hair cut with Sydney and it came out fantastic. Later I booked with Gretchen for a cut and a full color, and it came out beautifully. Amazing work. She went above and beyond to help me get the look that I wanted. When some of the toner began to wash out, Gretchen was very accommodating to schedule getting me back into the salon, and was able to fix it so the color stayed. I saw Nikki based off of a reccomendation. I texted her beforehand what I wanted and what my hair currently looked like. I asked if it could be done in one session or if I'd need more. She reassured me it would only take 1 to get there. During the session she was so sweet and I liked talking to her. After my hair was done I was shocked when I saw my reflection. I was speechless andI am honestly not comfortable to go out in public. After 2 days of it sinking in I reached out to her. She said she was happy I told her It wasn't what I wanted. She said she would fix it and we set a date. The day before our appointments she messaged me letting me know she'd be charging me to fix her mistake (the whole price of color). I spent all my savings to get this done and now can't afford to get it fixed. I feel like she should have refunded me for the color or done it over for free. She even admitted she went off script of what I asked for stating it wouldn't have looked nice on my hair length. Something she didn't tell me before and if she did I would have chose a different color. I feel hurt, self conscious, and like I wasn't listened to. ASK FOR SYDNEY! SHE IS INCREDIBLE & THE ABSOLUTE BEST. Maines Salon is my main place to go to for balayage, trim, cut, highlights, etc. I have tried multiple salons in Ventura and throughout Glendale, where I use to live. AND I'm so grateful to have found Maines Salon. Sydney is exceptionally knowledgable when it comes to different hair types and textures. I tell her what I want, and snip-snip, she does the perfect hair cut every single time. I walk out smiling and running my fingers through my hair. One of the salons I went to in LA cost an arm and leg, but the stylist was so use to doing hair for bleached blondes, that she wasn't use to dealing with coarse asian hair, and I ended up having blonde/bleach stripes in my hair that made me look like a skunk. From then on, I was a little traumatized with salons. Especially since one of the salons in Ventura "trimmed" my hair to a bob, when I asked for shoulder length. Despite these experiences, I did not give up hope, and have been so grateful to find Maines Salon. The salon is absolutely adorable! With cute flowers adorning the store shelves, free wifi, and coffee, there's so many things to love about this amazing salon. Gretchen is amazing, and before all of her appointments, she warns the user that if they use boxed dye at home, to be careful that interactions can occur and the hair can fry, and to do it at your own risk. I feel like, any negativity regarding this salon is unfair, and should be further investigated, because they spend a lot of time making sure each client is aware of the risks of home/vs salon dye. Grechens work is full of integrity, and she spends a lot of time asking very targeted questions before the appointment. Can I review a consultation?! Love this girl! read more

All this time I was looking for a salon out in Camarillo/Ventura not knowing this cute salon was right in Santa Paula within minutes driving distance from my home. I can't stress this enough but what an amazing visit and even more amazing service giving to me during my visit. Maines Salon is definitely a gem in this cute little quaint town of Santa Paula. To make it clear I went in to get my hair lightened from my previous box dyed hair color (it was dark) not fully black though, I went in to get my hair color blended into my extensions and cut. The extensions were not a drastic color lighter before even starting on my hair she did warn me that it could have a reaction and it would may not even lighten to the exact color of the extensions I said okay that was fine and she even said that if she saw a bad reaction she would immediately wash it out. And just tone it back to dark. She was professional when doing my hair and I had a lot of trust in her since I did go in last minute but I should've known doing stuff last minute wasn't going to work out well. She didn't style my hair with the extensions before I left so I couldn't see if they even matched because she had her other client there and she pretty much just blow dried my extensions so it was a surprise to me when I got home and styled it and saw they didn't match as I thought. Especially when I paid 200+ dollars so yes I have the right to be upset especially when I walked out looking the same as before if she didn't know how to blend extensions she could've just said that and I would've gone somewhere else and I'm not saying it to ruin her reputation either I'm saying it so someone else won't go spending their money with a person who will just ignore them when they ask them to fix it or for their money back. read more
