I need to make a shout out to Katy Jean, who is a stylist at ten dash one hair salon. I'm in my 70s but still want to be stylish. I had taken a picture to Katy Jean and she did a great job. Through the whole process she asked me questions. What did I think about this? What do you think about that and really wanted an honest answer. We got all done and we looked at the picture and she said I need to cut some more here. She was really attentive and did a fantastic job. It's just really hard to get a hairstylist to listen and not make you feel like you have to settle , and then go home and redo the whole thing. I did not have that experience with Katie. I had a deeply upsetting experience at Ten Dash One salon. As someone with a rare neurological condition, I rely on a service dog for support. After my color was applied, I was told to wait outside with my dog for 30-40 minutes. When I asked to speak with the owner or return inside for my hair wash, I was met with rudeness and dismissiveness. I even explained I might need to go to the hospital due to my condition and was told, "You do what you have to do." The owner finally let me in, but only to wash and leave. I didn't receive the full service like the other clients, all because my service dog passed gas. I was treated as if I had committed a serious offense. I left in tears, humiliated and ashamed. This salon showed no compassion, no accessibility awareness, and certainly no respect for service animal laws. Absolutely unacceptable. I do not recommend this place to anyone with disabilities or service needs. To the owner of Ten Dash One Hair Studio I am filing a complaint regarding an incident that took place at Ten Dash One salon on June 27, 2025 where I believe I was discriminated against because of my disability and my use of a service dog. I have a diagnosed neurological condition that requires a trained service animal. During my appointment, I was told to wait outside the salon with my dog after my hair color was applied--a wait of approximately 30-40 minutes. When I requested to speak with the owner or return inside to have my hair washed, I was denied and treated with disrespect. I explained I was having a stress response and might need to seek emergency care. The receptionist responded, "You do what you have to do." I was ultimately allowed back inside, but only to have my hair washed and leave. I was denied the full service provided to other clients because my dog passed gas. I was humiliated and in tears. I believe this constitutes a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, as I was denied equal service and reasonable accommodation based solely on the presence of my service animal. Great salon! Found this place after I moved to Ventura and needed a new spot. The location is great, even next to a pastry shop, and they have plenty of parking in their back lot. The salon is always clean and aesthetically appealing. Their receptionists are very friendly, and I'm always offered a drink while I wait. I was worried that the cut / color I wanted was too alternative for a classic salon but Desirae made my dreams happen! Please rethink hair extensions by Heidi, the owner of at Ten Dash One. Now 8 months after having the glue in extensions removed, still coping with depression as my natural shoulder length hair damaged beyond salvage ~ the single worst decision of my life ~ trusting Heidi with my long locks. Despite a few red flags (she only takes cash or checks) paying $1800 for 12 inch extensions; making my hair down to almost my college length. Would repeat with 6" extensions about 2.5 months later. During the removal, 2.5 months later, performed by her daughter (a refreshing change from her Mum) she cheerily informed me that a Long Bob would be appropriate. Heidi, for whatever reason, literally and factually chopped off most of my hair. The last 8 months have been some of the most humiliating of my life. Going from at least shoulder length hair ALL of my life (well not as a baby) to a short almost 'pixie' cut at 55 yrs soul crushing. Have fine hair in abundance, Norwegian 'dirty blonde' w/a bit of assistance from hairdressers over the decades. Slowly coming to terms with my still very short hair. Horrible first experience. I called in advance to schedule an appt with Kendell, was even left a voicemail confirming this & it wasn't until I arrived to my appt that I was told I was switched to be with Savannah. Considering I had driven out from SB and made it a point to schedule with Kendell for a reason, this was extremely upsetting. Even with this mistake, I wasn't offered any accommodation other than reschedule for another day with Kendall or get my haircut with Savannah and considering the long drive I had just completed, I decided to go through with the haircut. However, before starting the haircut I was told it was usually expected that you stay with the hairstylist you start with. In my opinion, this is an interesting approach considering this was a mistake on their end. I think the situation could've been handled better and there could've been more communication on the salon's end. Not a pleasant first impression at all. read more

Don't make an appointment here unless you want to potentially be mistreated and discriminated against . I'm not the one to pull the race card or cry discrimination as soon as somebody gives me slightly bad customer service. I know better than that. But when you walk into a salon just to make an appointment, and as soon as you enter, the Barber tells you you don't serve my kind of people giving us dirty looks saying we're not the right people and then afterwards come out of the salon to laugh at us as we're driving away. I don't know how other way to interpret that so please explain what you mean. I didn't catch the name other than it started with a B. if you didn't have time for an appointment at your empty salon, you could've said so. using language like "my kind of people" and "saying we're not the right clientele" is one thing but to then start following us outside to mock me and my daughter. You're disgusting person and not fit serve the public and your behavior says a whole lot more about you than it does about the people you've refuse to serve. At least we had the class to walk away unlike yourself. I hope you respond to this and have a very good explanation. Really disappointed because all my daughter wanted was a haircut. She's 11. Attack me all you want I'm an adult but she's a child. this is the fist time my daughter ever heard anyone speak like that to her or behave that way. Absolutely disgusting. read more

The staff at 10 Dash One was friendly & the salon itself is nice & clean but that's all the good things I can say. Where to start...I walked in on a very slow day & requested a future appt with someone experienced to add low-lights to my hair. If that stylist worked out & I'd return for a haircut. Unfortunately the day I stopped by the shop had only 1 stylist working who flatly said she wasn't interested in taking on any new clients. A first for me. Okay, so instead of suggesting I come back when there were other experienced stylists available she turned to the only other "stylist" & said she could take me. Sadly I didn't realize how truly inexperienced she really was. A lovely young woman but without doubt not savvy. When you ask for someone experienced...that's what one would expect. On the appointment day I asked to look at swatches so I could see the tones I had in mind. Being highly gray, white & partially my original brown I wanted to bring out my still existing natural tone as lowlights. Easy except they don't believe in having swatches or any means to show their clients what colors they have to offer. Ok, I then asked if I could see the box at least so I could make sure I'm getting close to the tone I have in mind. "No, we don't do that because it's pre-mixed in large bottles". This is a full service salon? In the end the color was close enough but after she washed out my hair I realized the foils were placed ridiculously wrong!! When she parted my hair during the blow out I realized her foil placement was so off she left me with a 2" white part on each side. I felt like I was being spoofed. I told the "stylist" this was unexceptable. Nervously she offered to re-foil so I didn't look like Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians. Seriously!! The lesson I learned is just because the salon looks nice...don't assume the stylists are all up to par. Moving on! read more

While my regular stylist (different salon) was on leave for a couple months, I had been coming here for shampoo/blowouts. They were always super accommodating scheduling me and the blowouts were great! The various stylists I had were receptive to the style I wanted which I appreciate. This might seem silly but I love that they have a TV directly above the wash bowl... and that it's always on House Hunters or DIY projects haha :) I love the smell of their products and they also have cute jewelry and clothes available for purchase. She not only gives great haircuts but gives the best shampoo I have ever gotten in my life :) She has patience with my particular needs and always helps my hair look less frizzy. Kristi is absolutely amazing. I have really curly hair that is almost 80% white, with a natural base of dark brown. I have been seeing my hair stylist in Beverly Hills for over a decade but I didn't want to travel that far any more and really wanted a change. Kristi came highly recommended by a blonde friend and let me confirm that she knocked it out of the park. Kristi was able to work with my extremely curly grey, white and blonde hair and make me look like a natural blonde with beautiful transitions of colors. Back in 2018 I came in to Ten Dash One and asked for a balayage that was "Thai tea" colored and asked for it to be brassy. Instead, I left with a light brown/blondish balayage. I asked for it to be corrected which they did free of charge, but the stylist seemed upset about it and it was pretty awkward. I decided to chance it again in 2021 because their reviews are so positive, assuming 2018 was a fluke. When I called to make the appointment, I asked specifically for someone who was good at balayages that are non-natural colored. I asked the stylist for a deep magenta jewel-toned hue and left with a balayage that was light red with orangey undertones. This time I corrected it at home. At both visits (and for non-color visits in-between) the haircuts were great. I wouldn't recommend going here if you want an unnatural color. Both times I felt I was pretty clear with my request and reference photos, but the results were way off base. They also have not been following COVID protocols (masking, distancing, etc), which made for a pretty uncomfortable visit. read more

I'm very happy with this hair salon! I got my first balayage done by Katelyn and she did a great job! She explained the process and was clear in what the pros and cons were and what the maintenance would be like to keep my hair colored the way I wanted it to. She also helped cut my really long hair and trimmed it to the length that I wanted it. She was very nice and professional. The salon was clean and comfortable. They offer drinks if you'd like one. Then My hair stylist who was Chelsie came out and was just a burst of sunshine. I showed her pics of the hair style I was looking to achieve & we talked about what I wanted and what she could do for me etc. She gave me a lovely hair wash and scalp massage!
