More like a 3.5, but I'm rounding up since it's a mall that definitely serves its community, is in the process of being improved (construction is ongoing for the 2.0 part of it), and has a decent selection of shops inside. It's not a higher end mall like South Coast Plaza or Del Amo, or even the Santa Anita Mall, but it's not dead like the PH Mall or absolutely disgusting like the Lakewood Mall. I'd say it's more like a more alive West Covina Mall if anything, and most like the Stonestown Galleria in SF. This probably makes no sense to anyone unless they've been to these malls, lol, but if it's a measuring scale for anything. Plenty of parking all around the mall, I had no issues turning in from the main road and finding parking immediately. There's lots of seating at this mall and even when there's empty stores and dead mall space, they use it for photo opportunities, or WiFi lounge areas which is nice. I will admit that the mall is pretty dated and aged looking, but it's not disgusting (I keep throwing the Lakewood mall under the bus, but my god lol). Decent selection of stores including an FYE (fun!), a couple miscellaneous weeb stores, a theater, a Round 1, a bargain bookstore (awesome, I haven't seen these in awhile), Boudin SF (rare pull), Hot Topic, Box Lunch, BBW, Lollicup Fresh (also haven't seen these in awhile), a Pepper Lunch (coming soon, nice), and a food court that is alive and functioning. I think all this mall needs is like a Daiso or Miniso and a cosmetic shop like ShibuyaLA or maybe a Sephora?? But then I feel like I'm lowkey replicating the Santa Anita mall, LOL. Main Place mall is totally different than how it was years ago. Some stores are better now and many odd stores came in and took over about a half of the mall on the far right. Macy's remains nice and clean. And I usually can find my size here, ordering online for in-store pickups. The food court got bigger with many choices of restaurants. Parking is challenging since they built a whole flock of apartment complexes right where that big parking used to be. Forgot to take some photos. Sorry! read more

This is actually quite a nice indoor mall with two levels that features Macy's and JC Penney, along with the Round 1 bowling and arcade. They have a great selection of the typical mall shops like Victoria's Secret, Hot Topic, H&M, Foot Locker and Crocs. They also have some more unique stores like Candeeland and Milano shoes, a few coffee places, etc. The mall has a fairly large food court and lots of seating. It has really nice lighting and the architecture feels very modern. They have a nice Italian restaurant inside the mall call Boudin SF, which I believe is a bakery. I ate lunch there and got the chicken pesto sandwich. Very good spot for lunch after walking and shopping. This is definitely a 4 star mall and worth checking out. read more

Whoa! 11 years since my last review, and I talked about all the new places coming like Boudin Bakery, Johnny Rockets, Dog Haus, Blaze Pizza, and Applebee's! Now, only Boudin Bakery and Johnny Rockets are left, and Johnny Rockets has moved from a nice downstairs location to the food court, where you might have to fight for seats if it's busy. The food court is still OK, but about 1/2 the spaces are always switching it up with someone new. It's been several years since every spot in the food court was occupied. The mall is currently under construction, where Nordstroms used to be, to become a mixed-use area. Similar to what Brea Mall has already opened. The back side has already been taken over by apartments, both projects reducing close parking. Not good. It's true that the parking garage on the back (behind JCPenney) is rarely full, and can still be a good walk, or you might have to take the stairs if on the 2nd parking level.) Several name-brand stores have left (Nordstrom, Hallmark, American Eagle Outfitters) and have been replaced by Ashley Furniture, 24 Hour Fitness, H&M, and an arcade/bowling alley. Several stores are locally owned, which brings a unique shopping experience. They do have a used book store, which I love. Sadly, JCPenney is usually pretty messy and not a fun store to shop. Macy's is still high quality, but their 3rd floor for housewares and kids is kind of depressing. Also, during construction, you can drive around the entire mall, so if the parking is full in front of Macy's or the side of JCP, you have to backtrack to go around to the parking garage. With that, the intersection on the corner of Macy's can get nasty with too many cars trying to get in, get out, or just finding a place to park. read more

Came here before the mall officially opened on a weekday. Got a great parking spot and headed over to Funparx, the American ninja warrior themed indoor play area. This was my first time visiting and was amazed by how large the mall was. Some good brands and shops in there. We stopped by the food court after and grabbed a Cinnabon and boba drink. Today was my first visit to Main Place mall in Santa Ana. It is a bit out of my way, so I only went there because it was closer for my friend and her mom who were coming from Irvine. We planned to meet at 12:30, after church, at the Panini kebab Grill. Because I arrived early, I parked by JCPenney, where there are a covered parking spaces. JCPenney was having a massive sale post Christmas, so it was worth having a look around. As I walked all the way through the length of the mall to my lunch day, I noticed lots of fun areas for family or friends who are less into shopping, but want to accompany the more avid shoppers in their group to the mall: play areas, lots of comfy, looking seating, several Wi-Fi lounges. There's also a huge arcade/pool table/bowling space at the opposite end of JCP. Lots of helpful signage, though the difference between patio dining, dining restaurants,, and courtyard restaurants is rather confusing if you've never been here before. The whole mall had a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere, and it didn't bother me too much that several escalators were out of order; that just makes them stairs, right? read more

One of my favorite OC malls! I love the open-concept design; it makes the whole place feel very fresh and airy. It's huge and spacious, featuring a great selection of stores and a Round1 for entertainment. The food court is also well-managed with lots of seating available for dining. Overall, it's a great, spacious environment that doesn't feel overwhelming. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Santa Ana! The selection of stores are very mall-typical (Zara, Claire's, etc) but the standout is for sure the Round One! The service there is relatively good, the nicest employee I met worked at the piercing kiosk, she was really sweet. They also have cute displays for photo shoots and tons of photo ops if you're visiting. read more

This mall has had many changes - some good and some not so good. Some great features are a large JC Penney store, a foreign exchange store, large elevator to accommodate ADA customers, and some classic spits like Vans and Boudin. The sad part is many store sections are closed and there are a lot of gaming (virtual) stores and cheaply built trinkets and toys. The worst is the construction out front that took down a 2 level parking structure to put in residential housing. read more

Every store I went into had great customer service. I came so I could purchase cosmetics from the MAC store. That was a treat. Like always! I got 20% off my purchase and three free gifts. The Easter bunny is there and photo ready. I went to the Shoe Palace as well. I didn't purchase anything but they have nice selection of sneakers. read more

Very disappointed in what MainPlace is becoming. They are very discriminatory towards disabled adults. I've been coming here with clients for years and have recently been told they are not able to walk around. I've been trying to get an answer as to why that is if they are not bothering anyone. There is no reason they should be treated any differently than others, they are independent adults who have to same rights as we do so why are they being treated less than. Definitely not okay and ashamed our mall is disrespectful towards disabled adults. Do better for your community. read more

They're currently undergoing renovations which just goes to show that they're going to get even better! Upon walking in, I noted how clean the mall was, bright, lively! I love MainPlace Mall. If what I've heard of future plans for the mall is true, my heart is going to hurt. I have many good memories over the years shopping here. I've walked by some of these unique stores, looking at the window of a store showcasing gorgeous quinceañera dresses (La Quinceañera by Decoradisimo*), or checked out mall mainstays like Macy's and ALDO. I've eaten at their food court, which has good places, like Cancun Juice. A Mrs. Fields Cookies is here, too. I was kind of amazed to see it, because I thought the store's days had long passed. We bought some to bring to a dinner held by friend who lives nearby. We all liked them well enough. For the price, our expectations were low. What I heard in terms of plans for MainPlace was the closure of Macy's, which is unfortunate, because their selection of merchandise is more appealing than the other ones in Orange County. As you most likely know, financials reported for the department store haven't been good, to put it mildly. I also heard part of the mall is going to be torn down and turned into apartments. I can't say this for sure but it is going to be interesting to see what occurs. * I never fail to be impressed by these dresses. I'm not affiliated with them. read more

MainPlace Mall, I'm asking you to reconsider how you are treating disabled visitors. My sister Karen is disabled and nonverbal. She communicates differently, and sometimes when she becomes overwhelmed or frustrated, she may have what appears to be a "tantrum." This is one of the ways she communicates. My mother and I visit MainPlace Mall with Karen Monday through Friday. The mall is one of her favorite places, and walking around is part of her daily exercise because she cannot walk long distances. Today, we were stopped by mall security because Karen was having an episode. We were told that we needed to "keep her down" or leave the mall because this was part of MainPlace's "new rules." I genuinely do not understand how this can be a new rule. Are disabled individuals expected to leave the mall simply because they may communicate or behave differently? Karen is not doing this intentionally, and she is not someone who can simply be told to stop or explain what she is feeling. She is a nonverbal disabled person. Karen has been coming to this mall for years. It is heartbreaking and frustrating to think that a place she loves and regularly visits could suddenly become a place where my family feels unwelcome because of her disability. This also isn't the first uncomfortable experience we've had recently. Back in July, a Macy's employee became upset with us because we stopped by the third floor, as we do regularly, to pick up furniture papers. He told us that we come every day and that we could not continue taking them. I asked where it stated that we were not allowed to take them, and instead of answering me or allowing me to speak with a supervisor, he walked away and completely ignored me when I asked for his name. I eventually spoke with another employee who took down my information, and a Macy's supervisor later contacted me. She was wonderful and handled the situation professionally, which I truly appreciated. But now I have to ask: What is going on at MainPlace Mall? My mother and sister should be able to go to a public place without feeling uncomfortable, embarrassed, or like they are being watched because of my sister's disability. We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for understanding, respect, and inclusion. MainPlace Mall needs to reconsider whatever "new rules" are being enforced regarding disabled individuals who may have difficulty regulating their emotions or communicating in typical ways. If these rules are truly in place, I would like to know exactly what they are and how they are intended to accommodate people with disabilities. Karen deserves to enjoy her favorite place just like anyone else. Disabled people deserve to belong in public spaces too. read more

Oh my gosh, this place seems to be doing decently! Lots of shops, a food court with actual food, and lines, with real people waiting for things??!? I stopped in as there's a place called The District (I forgot to check in) where I pick up my suits - If you're in need go see Wais and he'll take care of you, excellent quality at a great price! I was stuck here for several hours, waiting for the EV charger in front of Macy's to become available. One of the two plugs at this location wasn't working, and the other was hogged by a Tesla Model 3. The posted signage prohibits parking for more than 2 hours. Still, it's not enforced--inviting unscrupulous drivers to start a new charging session every two hours and camp there all day. A tour de force of entitlement. Wish the plugs were better maintained, and there were a session fee or a penalty for starting multiple consecutive 2-hour sessions to discourage freeloaders. read more

This was the place to go back in the days for shopping, foods, games, and movies since it location is right near everything, museum, discover cubes, restaurants, shops, hospitals, freeways. Inside it's big bad have a handful of well known departments plus great foods courts out plenty varieties of choices. Service is mostly great but there are days that it was underperforming. As for value, it's depending on what you're looking for and where you shop. Overall, it is reasonable in value plus a great way for family outing and dining on budget. Stopped off here yesterday to kill some time as our intended destination wasn't going to be open for another hour. Have not been here in about five to six years roughly, so it was good to see a mall that was not completely dead and had a lot of stores still intact despite a lot of malls being closed down recently (like the Westminster Mall). The mall is going through a renovation, so there are some areas under construction. Some favorite stores include: Boxlunch, Hot Topic, Round 1, and Tokyo Life. A couple criticisms my husband and I had was despite the mall being open for about an hour and a half when we arrived; all the bathrooms we seemed to try and use were shut down or out of order. My husband managed to find a bathroom to use but it required us to walk all the way from the food court to the Round 1 Arcade. I also felt like the employee there was suspicious of me as all I was doing was looking at claw machines while waiting for him. I had to take out my Round 1 card from my mall (Mission Viejo) to pretend I was making a decision on what games to play. It was also not very accessible to any elevators or escalators. The elevators we saw were on either end of the mall, so it required a lot of walking to get to one side or another to use one. Adding to the bathrooms being out of order, all of the sets of escalators in the mall had at least one side that was broken. Also, it looks like this mall is a hot bed for theft. It seemed like every store we walked into (the ones listed above and also including Gamestop and Anime World), had pictures on many displays of people who were caught on camera stealing and leaving the store with stolen merchandise. A good mall overall, but hopefully some of the run down issues will be addressed next time we decide to stop by. read more

Main place has a great selection of food and drinks. The value it brings to the community is great as it offers a place for everyone with its open air design. It definitely feels like a different decade when you pay attention to the architecture. I can't wait to see what the renovations bring to the mall. I drove 35 mins to come to this mall to buy cloths at Aeropostale and the store is close with the gate down it's 7:40pm and the female employee just laugh with the male employee when I ask if the store is close the mall say it closes at 9pm on Saturdays. What a bad experience never Coming here again and wasting my time. read more

They are remodeling one side but there is an entrance by the food court (which was packed!!). There are so many good shops here and plenty of fun activities!!!! read more

We remember that this Main Place Mall in Santa Ana used to be busier and nicer. This mall needs to be updated and not many nice stores for us to go shopping. We tried Turkish coffee and delights with some Dubai chocolates but they were very pricy. The food court was also mediocre. We probably won't go back for a while. read more

This place has a Middle-Eastern bakery with lots of desserts near the food court. The food court has good food, and there's a nice WIFI lounge for you to use. One of the food court shops had waffles that resembled eggs in a box. How cool is that I thought it was just so cool. The workers here are chill and welcoming when it comes to you entering their shop. This place is worth it if you come here once in a while. read more

Cool little mall here in Santa Ana, Ca. My first time here, I needed to waste an hour and a half and I was around the area. It's rare for me being around the Santa Ana area, I just don't really have a reason to go lol. Saturday between 10 am - Noon. Plenty of parking. I used the structured parking lot. According to my daughter who used to frequent this mall, there some new shops inside. Very clean, very pleasant atmosphere. Grab your Starbucks drink and shop around. The food: I felt all sorts of waves of nostalgia being in this mall even though I've never been here prior to today. It looks very 90s-esque still with the theater box office sign looking old and colorful, the checkered tile floors, the food court shape and windows, the lamps inside, and the long escalators. There were lots of interesting stores here including a Quineanera dress store, a kids' indoor playground, a gift shop with fake flowers and bears, and a brow place. There's a bowling alley and theater here. The mall has a lot of Mexican-centric places outside of the dress shop that included a paleta shop in the food court and couple of Mexican restaurants. I like how the food court had an area with small kids tables. The bad: It's outdated. For folks, like myself, that's ok because nostalgia is so precious. The floor in the food court kids table area was really sticky. Some of the stores are random like an orthodontics office, an empty corner store staged with mannequins made to look like a cafe (or if was a former cafe), an empty store front with a heart shelf you could take pictures with, etc. The interesting: There's a human claw machine where you can act as a claw by laying in a swing that moves you around and over stuffed animals. Im from the generation that grew up and learned how to become a teenager "at the mall", I go to MainPlace MALL a few times a week for lunch at the Food court - great choices here!! The only thing that's really missing is all the people. This place should be Re - discovered it's a one stop air conditioned fantasy island. Fun place to hang out, shop, eat in the food court, etc. There is plenty of parking all around the mall, including covered and uncovered parking. Around the holidays, they have visits with Santa and the Easter Bunny (which I love). Macy's offers a curbside pickup option. They also have Round 1 Bowling and Arcade on the lower level. I have been coming to this mall since I was a little kid. It's just off the 5 & 22 freeway on Main St. Bordering Santa Ana & the city of Orange. It's always been a pretty busy mall every day from just before lunch time, til closing. But there's lots of parking including 2 parking structures. There is a good amount of different types of stores, and restaurants at this mall. They also have a mall account that you can sign up for called My Perks. I have signed up and get all the special offers and giveaways emailed to me. Today on International Woman's Day, they were giving away gift cards to the newly opened JCP Beauty. Decent mall if you are shopping around. There used to be a Nordstrom here but it closed for good. Now there's still Macys and JCP. You still have the usual vendor kiosks, food court (little rundown), movie theater (cheap tickets but run down), and typical stores like VA, Brighton's, Spencer's etc. Beware of the elevator that goes to the movie theater. It's scary and broken. I got in one day and was stuck there for awhile. When you push the help button it didn't ring. No reception so like any scary movie your mind start wandering. Then elevator started buzzing for a long time and then finally crept up to the second floor. Overall took almost 5 minutes to get there. Super scary. The escalators located at rest of the mall sometimes works and sometimes broken. Ugg Vendors are ok. Most are in their phone not working hard but when you approach them and ask a question then they will help you. Other stores like Brighton and VS and Spencer's are fine. Shoe stores are always stocked and friendly staff. Given that this mall recently renovated the last few years it's a lot better now. Still would need some maintenance in areas. Otherwise the other side of the mall close to JCP is good. There's a Boudin and sushi place that's decent and clean. read more
