Can't get enough of Main Street Coffee! they are definitely the hot spot to be in EG in the evenings. They have the best espresso martinis with so many varieties and variations- you can't go wrong with any one! With vodka or whiskey, decaf or caffeinated, in a martini glass or over ice in a mason jar. There is a slight up charge for the mason jar and ice, I don't usually opt for this. The bar tenders are efficient and friendly, even when the bar is packed. I finally made it to Mainstreet during the day and it was just as lovely as in the evening. I got a chai latte and a chocolate donut. The staff was so fun and very much approved my donut choice! Then I settled in to get some work done in the back room. Went in the evening after dinner at Blu on the Water, just a short walk away. Right away it looked very inviting, tables outside with art painted on the sidewalk. We went inside and found a table by the window. Walked up to the bar and were immediately greeted, even though it was pretty busy. Oh my dearest Mainstreet Coffee . I've been obsessed with this lovely place for nearly two decades and have so many fond memories associated with it. I no longer live in RI, but make a point of stopping in everytime I am in town. Every single beverage I've had here has been A+. They got me hooked on iced hot chocolates and Italian sodas back in my high school/pre-caffeine days and then cemented my love of espresso martinis in my over-21 era. Their food is just as amazing, from savory to sweet, breakfast and lunch. Staff has always been kind and personable. Decor is lovely, warm and cozy for those who are looking for that, or there is the bar side for the more outgoing crowd. They've also got a number of tables outside for those nice days. I love that they've got a little free library shelf in the upstairs fireplace area. They have many options - tequila or vodka flavors - but I chose the classic caramel and my friend chose the blueberry. Both delicious. They ask if you want your drink served in a mason jar or glass. There is additional seating in the back of the cafe that is more relaxed and cozy or outdoor seating in front that is perfect to sit by on a nice Summer night. Reminds me of the Italian "bars" in smaller towns that have secret places to sit, looks smaller than what it really is with a nice hidden section in the back area if you want peace and quiet. I did have to wait for service for a little bit because it looks like customer and the barista were catching up, but once they got to me super friendly and helped me choose my drink. I chose one of their seasonal drinks, honey lavender latte and oh boy was it better than I expected! The first time I had this flavored coffee was when I was meeting my brother in Kansas City, Missouri and I fell in love with it, but I haven't been able to find a similar tasting coffee until now. I will say this latte surpassed the taste and flavors from the one I had in Kansas City, so thank you to the kind lady that made this drink and complimented me on my outfit. I had a cheese danish which was so delicious and I bought a doughnut for my son and he loved it as well and he's picky when it comes to donuts so I was happy to hear that my son enjoyed it. I need to come back here since I'm trying to avoid chain coffee shops, and try more local places. The coffee is solid and they have quite a few tasty breakfast options. I like to grab a coffee and work from there for a few. At night it does get extremely claustrophobic in there as a warning. I love that for the espresso martinis they ask you if you want it in a martini glass or a mason jar over ice. Most folks were opting for the mason jar, but for me it just does not hit the same. I just went with the traditional but there really are so many options to choose from. The bartenders were friendly and do a great job at managing the crazy lines and getting you in and out quickly. They pre-batch the coffee which makes sense with how many martinis they go through. I went with the traditional and it was spot on. Overall such a gem that we are lucky to have in EG! read more

When the barista put down what appeared to be our order we tried to ask to confirm it was ours so we didn't take someone else's and she completely ignored us. She didn't ignore the woman who came up behind us to ask her to heat up her drink in the microwave though. It was very clear most of the other patrons were regular customers. They knew them by name and got their orders out to them quickly while we waited and waited. They also called out every beverage made but ours. I've been here a few times, but today was the first time I ordered food. I waited 10 minutes after ordering a bagel with cream cheese. I politely asked the barista if the bagel was still on its way, and she said they should be working on it in the back in an unfriendly tone. Another customer was kind enough to point out that the breakfast food is placed on the bar in a different room, and my food might already be sitting there. I asked the barista if this was the case and she said yes, the food is left on the bar. I let her know politely that I wasn't aware of that and she ignored me and walked away. Totally rude.
