Borealis has been a regular stop for me for years now, and I'm overdue writing a review. The Bristol location is the newest and is tucked into a converted mill building on Wood Street. Tt has everything you'd want from a great coffee shop: comfortable seating, plenty of room to spread out and work, a rentable conference room, and something you would not expect from a coffee shop, the Aurora Bar, stocked with a nice selection of local spirits and other favorites. My partner and I stopped in for a quick nibble for lunch on Sunday and this was perfect. My partner went with the Caprese sandwich, which is served on a pressed ciabatta with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, roasted red peppers, spinach, pesto mayo, and balsamic. It was simple and tasty, and I was lucky enough to get a couple bites! I went with the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, which was also simple, but packed with flavor. It had all the obvious ingredients with the addition of pickles, which added such a nice briny little punch and really hit the spot. Something worth noting: both of our items were ordered from the laminated menu at the register, not in the beautiful leather-bound Aurora Bar menu, which appears to be an evening menu with cocktails and other tasty food items. For drinks, I went with an espresso tonic; the slight bitterness of the quinine plays really nicely against the bold espresso, and it's one of those combinations that's refreshing in a way that's hard to explain until you try it. One small note for the team: the Riverside location has always had a real warmth and cohesion to the staff that I haven't quite felt at Bristol. It's not a dealbreaker by any stretch, but a little more energy behind the counter would go a long way. Still a five-star spot, as the coffee and the space more than make up for it. read more

I came here to see a friend of mine play live jazz music with his band and it was such a cute and awesome experience! The vibes were great, there was plenty of room for our party (we had 7 of us), and it didn't feel crowded at all despite the number of people that were in the coffee shop. I think that the only downside that I would say for our experience is that the drinks at the bar took FAR too long, although they were good! We came here in the evening, but I would definitely love to pop in at some point during the day because I do think that this would be a wonderful little study spot! read more

I tried Borealis for the first time with my husband today. The maple latte was fantastic and I love that they made a heart on top. The carrot cake muffin is gf and was very tasty. We purchased a bag of coffee beans to brew at home and it came with a free cup of coffee. The place is spacious with cute coffee house vibes. Service was good too. read more

First time here and I loved it! I tried one of their specials, I wish I had taken a photo of the name because I forgot, but it was coconut with oat milk and it was delicious. I was here with a friend and they got the same as me and we were both happy! The service was friendly and fast. I loved the atmosphere of it being quiet and trendy, but also friendly and calm. I've never seen a coffee bar with a cocktail bar and I definitely want to come back to try some cocktails! The coffee was good enough that I will also be back to pursue some beans. Beautiful indoor space with many seating areas - tables for groups, couches, a bar, and places to work as well. Bright and airy, with lovely decorations. Outdoor seating is available as well and there is plenty of parking. We were there for the espresso martinis, and they were strong in both coffee and alcohol. Very good, but I wish I had asked for Bailey's to be added. We also got some pastries, which were delicious and sat and enjoyed the indoor atmosphere. Had a cigar with my coffee outside 2 days ago. The shop doors and windows were closed. An employee came out and asked us to move, saying the smoke was coming in through the windows. I'll never know whether they have good coffee or not. I stopped by for the first time last week at 7:15 AM to try the place out, it's a large, Spartan, echoey, former industrial space. Two staff members just didn't feel like returning my hello or serving me coffee or anything, so I just left after a few minutes. A little above the ordinary coffee shop. Found this place because they carry, Clover Deserts. Which was a small desert shop with intense flavors. Coffee shop with liquor is always a plus. They offer a variety of desserts, the highlights are the mousse jars. (not present in the pics) Ample parking and laid back atmosphere. They also offer a space to use for meetings. read more

This is now my new favorite spot for coffee in Rhode Island. It's located in downtown Bristol, which is full of many amazing small businesses and shops. The vibes couldn't be better here I came here on a Sunday afternoon to get some work done and it's got cozy and chill vibe. The coffee is hands down the best I have had in the state of Rhode Island and that's a big deal as an avid coffee lover. The service was superb. I can't wait to come back here to try the cocktails on a weekend. read more

We stopped in here after a brief hiatus, for a hot beverage and a quick snack. It was a bit late in the day for us to have coffee, so we opted for tea, which is always fantastic here. They had a really good assortment of pastry items and even had some hot food items on the menu, like some sandwiches and fries made with different toppings. They also have cold premade sandwiches available in the cooler. I ended up getting a seasonal tart which was incredible, and my girlfriend got the thumbprint cookies which are always a favorite. I took a ginger scone for coffee the next day and it was still fresh, which is a sign of just how freshly made everything in Borealis is. Borealis is always nice and clean. Always ample parking around and a nice location. Great stop on a cold day when you want a warm drink and want to have an easy morning or afternoon. read more

The entire cafe is one large room, but it's warm and welcoming once you sit down. Color scheme / atmosphere inside is iron and dark wood, perfect for a cozy winter visit. Food is relatively expensive for breakfast/lunch ($3.75 for a donut). We ordered 1 tea and 1 coffee, which came to about $9. Service is average. I ordered a 16 oz tea, which was handed to me with about 1-1.5 inches missing from the top. Essentially giving me a 12 oz tea in a 16 oz cup! I politely asked them to fill it to the top, which they did. Visited with a coffee drinker who calls herself a coffee connoisseur. She says - Good quality coffee with non-dairy options (including macadamia nut milk and oat milk). There is usually a wait, but it is because they make it fresh and it's always piping hot. They have a full bar and I would come back to try it for dinner. Note that the menu is limited. read more

Okay I am officially addicted!! Can't wait for this to be my new spot - perfect for a morning coffee, a quiet café to study, or for an evening drink with dessert after dinner!! So awesome how Borealis doubles as both a coffee shop and bar (...I cannot wait for espresso martinis coming soon!) Such a relaxing and cozy atmosphere. I really enjoyed this coffee spot. The coffee is bitter but did not hurt my stomach at all. I also enjoyed the tea selection. I got a blood orange hibiscus with lemonade. LOVE this place! Cold brew is the smoothest. They have great flavor options and there are many allergy friendly options (including dairy alternatives) and delicious food! I can't recommend their BLT enough- best one I've EVER had! Get it with the pesto mayo-you won't regret it! The people who work there are very friendly and helpful. I have some very positive and negative review on this place. Overall it's a great place. Good vibes. Good place to grab a coffee a snack and sit down and get some work done or meet with people. Here's something I didn't appreciate. I ordered a large hot coffee which came in a pint glass. I found that odd so I asked for a mug, which is what they serve the a small coffee in. I poured the pine glass into it and there was only a quarter inch of coffee left in the pint glass. The small coffee is $2.75, large coffee is $3.75 so therefore they charge you a dollar for about an eighth of announce more. I find this very disingenuous and misrepresentation. I did let them know and I hope they make the correction.. I have found the same kind of issue with soup at another restaurant in Bristol. read more

Decided to try this location on a weekend afternoon. The space is quite large and no trouble finding a table. Good coffee and pastry selection - all baked in house. Full bar as well, but didn't sample that. My only complaint is it is tucked back in an office park with other restaurants and businesses. We walked past more than once before finding it. This was my first visit to the new Borealis location in Bristol, and it was hopping. Beautiful spot, with a bar and lots of space for patrons. Their food menu is similar to the one in Riverside, and I tried the hummus toast which was delicious - a great piece of multigrain toast with avacado and carrots, as well as greens. It sounds busy but it made for a perfect lunch. Borealis has great coffee, if you don't know. Try one of their light special varieties- they are always vibrant and interesting. read more

Ordered a delicious chai latte from this place. I will be coming back a lot more! Busy place for a good reason. They also have really yummy fall flavors I want to try. The cashier was very nice despite the chaos in the restaurant and I got my coffee pretty quickly. Line also moves fast. Beautiful open space and the possibilities! Unexpectedly discovered on a cloudy day last September, and they have Matcha latte! Its mildly sweetened and paired perfectly with a shot of lavender on request. There is a case with variety of creations from sweet to savory options. I recommend the rosemary biscuit, raspberry thumbprint, and lavender financier. Decadent dessert pairs well with wide selection of beverages from espresso to spirits to complimentary water you can help yourself to. There was even kombucha in the fridge case supporting local company. Because there wasn't anyone in line in the afternoon, staff was patient with me as I took time to ask question and browse. Barista takes time to craft the drink individually so be patient as there will likely be a wait. Back to the space, there's a conference room for meeting planning or private functions seating up to 8 people for a cost $20 an hour or $12 for half an hour with wifi. This is a great new addition to Bristol. The place is huge with plenty of seating for you to either find a spot and enjoy your treats, sit down to meet with friends, or get some work done. As for the coffee, I had the almond cocoa stone fruit coffee beans, which I really enjoyed. For those of you like me who are a little too reliant on your GPS, ignore your GPS once you get close to the area as it will lead you to Shaws Lane, which is a residential area. Get on Woods St and enter the large plaza that also has Pivotal Brewing and Brick Pizza Company. Borealis is located in the same lot in the back. I'll be back to try some more items! read more

Before leaving I talked with Sam, their bartender, and he was so nice and we talked for quite some time about bourbons and other spirits.
