We love this place and have bought a bunch of really good wine. However we were just there and tried to buy a case of wine that we love. When we went to check out we were told that our purchase did not qualify for the case discount because it was on sale. There was no notice that it was on sale. NOTHING! It has been this price for a very long time. When questioned, we were told that that was what was on the register so that was what we got. No discount. We have spent hundreds of dollars there and this was very upseting. read more

They sell old merchandise. Bought quality craft beer. Stored in my beer fridge for 2 days... opened one and it exploded everywhere. Searched for a date and found it was OLD. Went to the store expecting to get a refund and was told NO. Kid called the old man and he was no help either.....just walked away. Their policy was 30 days. I only found out after opening the bottle and that took care of any chance to return. Horrible service - this is a regular customer who will now turn to Binnys....they would have taken it back. Instead you have lost a loyal customer. Stay away unless you are super desperate and with prices being so high put your money with a company that will stand behind what they sell. read more

I typically frequent Mainstreet every couple weeks to stock up on the essentials (liquor, wine and champagne) however based on recent experiences, and specifically my most recent experience, I think I am going to make the trip to Binnys in the future. The owner, I believe her name is Nancy, was unnecessarily pretentious when it came to answering a few questions I had. While inquiring about the price of a particular wine she went into great detail how she dislikes it, taste is terrible, etc...a wine I very much enjoy (and not a cheap or bad wine at all). While everyone is entitled to their opinion, her tone and delivery was unnecessary and unprofessional. I then inquired about another item which she then gave me a look of disgust and said "I don't know, we do not carry that"...which I then conveniently pointed out that the item in question was listed in their weekly sales ad. Let's be honest, it's a liquor store in Countryside with video poker machines...no reason to be snobby when interacting with customers. read more

Do NOT shop @ Mainstreet Liquor in Countryside! I'll let you be your own judge on the reasoning but I will tell you my experience. I have parked in the lot between Mainstreet & Tavern On LaGrange for all of my visits to this establishment. I have included a picture of where my car was exactly parked. I have been going to Tavern for well over 10 years. I have never had an issue parking my car there. The previous owners of Tavern never had an issue with patrons parking in the lot between the 2 locations. Well, on Thursday I went out to celebrate my birthday, parked where I always have and Mainstreet had me vehicle towed. All of a sudden, having Tavern patrons park on the shared lot is an issue? No offense but Mainstreet cannot even fill the lot in front of their business. They are even paying a woman to stand in their vestibule to watch even after hours! How petty are we?? So we no longer are trying to "help" each other. Now the ONLY thing I can think of is Tavern is now a black owned business. If anyone else has any suggestions I'm willing to hear them. And with this new black owned business in our area, who by the way is doing fantastic, and is always busy, and actually can fill the lot, I would think we would try to support them. Especially during a "pandemic"! But you do you Mainstreet! I will NEVER patronize your establishment. And I really do hope people follow suit. Prestige & Binny's it is! read more

This was the second time we had trouble here, and I would not go back again. I called for items in stock and asked about price matching policy at the same time. I was told no problem regarding the PRICE MATCH, as long as a brick/mortar store. The staffer pulled the product I asked for, and I went to purchase items(about$200), I was told NO PRICE MATCHING. They had to know I spoke with someone as the product was pulled, no more running around for me. I walked out of Main street wines without any items, this is their loss, as we have many parties each year and know their policies NOW. Thanks but NO thanks. read more

The customer service at Mainstreet is awesome! I remember coming here 20 years ago, before I drank wine - and had them help me pick out wine for gifts. I've been coming here ever since. Almost every Saturday, there is a wine tasting - usually a free event. They have a huge wall of discounted wines - love getting a $60 bottle for under $20. Prices are decent. They have great Monday wine specials - sign up for their emails and you'll be notified. It's a cool place - full wine & liquor store. read more

True story: We had good friends of ours move into La Grange. This was about 10 years ago - young, not married long, no kids. When my friend's husband would explain to friends and family what drew them to La Grange, one of the first things he'd say was "We are like a 2 minute drive from Mainstreet!"...no "Great schools!" or "Great community feeling!"....it was Mainstreet he bragged about. I can't blame the man. This is without a doubt our favorite liquor store hands down. If you can't find a beer or wine you've been looking for here, then it's not manufactured anymore. (Alright, I'm embellishing just a tad. But the selection is hard to beat.) The staff is courteous and helpful - above all Chester. He has helped me choose wines in the past and he always points me in the right direction. His suggestions have become favorites. They have a killer wine tasting on Saturdays; you learn alot and it's fun (especially when you go with 2 friends on an empty stomach). Plus I'm totally a Try Before You Buy kinda gal! This place has everything I like, suitable for many price ranges! They get in beers that are hard to find. I was really impressed when I wanted PumKing beer, and they offered to call me when it actually came in, and reserve me some bottles until I was able to stop by--- and they actually followed through on that! Apparently I am on a quest to hit up all the liquor stores on my way home from work. I popped by this little gem one random weeknight and was quite surprised. Not only do they have a decent size wine selection, but they carry quite a few microbrews (be still my drunken heart). For some reason I had never stopped off even though I pass this place several times a week. It's right on LaGrange, there is plenty of parking, and the prices are standard for the area. SCORE! I will definitely be spending more time exploring the wine selection come the fall and it's nice to see some of the microbrews I love making their way to the suburbs. I have to spend a bit more time looking over their offerings before I commit, but I'll definitely be back. read more

Really nice selection of craft beers to choose from. The store is well organized and the staff friendly and helpful. I think the prices are reasonable for the most part. No real complaints. Best liquor store around. The beer selection is amazing. There are so many craft beers to choose from that it takes me so long to decide. I want them all! And when I'm short on cash there's usually something delicious on clearance right in the front of the store. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. They always make me feel welcome and appreciated as a customer. It was a pain to get to for me while 1st Avenue was under construction but I still went out of my way to make a trip there many times. Tons to choose from here - lots of wine, champagne, beer and liquor. They also have accessories - glasses, openers, collectibles, etc. I noticed their beer prices are a bit high - especially for some of the craft beers we enjoy. I've seen some of the items a buck or 2 cheaper at other liquor stores, but I can understand the competition is probably tough with Binny's stores popping up everywhere. They certainly have lots to choose from. We were able to find exactly what we wanted. The employees are nice, talkative and helpful. When I think of a beer store, I think of Sam's Wine or maybe even Binny's on Grand - never anything in the suburbs. I was pleasantly surprised when I pulled into Main Street Liquors just to kill some time. Their beer selection is excellent! They don't have nearly as big of a selection as Sam's, but the selection that they do have is very diverse and unique. They had everything that I typically look for, as well as a couple beers that I had been meaning to try but hadn't gotten to yet. I had my first experience at Mainstreet only recently. It is quite impressive with a lot of beer, wines and spirits. The gentleman who helped me (David) is a rather large, imposing person who is very knowledgeable. We ended up talking about food and wine pairings for a dinner I'm planning, as well as a lengthy conversation about scotch. It seemed no matter my question, he had a good asnwer for me and I walked away that evening with a new store to shop (no longer going to Binny's). The staff was very nice and when I was all checked out, David even carried my purchase to my car. That my friends is a wonderful service! He told me they have about 3,000 wines on the floor and I believe him...the store is large...the selection tremendous and the staff GREAT to work with. Beer selection is huge! Even bigger then some of the Binny's that I've been to. They even had some stuff that I wouldn't find at the liquor store giant, like the Lindeman's ( sp?) Cuvee Rene gueuze that I picked up. Staff was helpful, one of the employees there is a beer geek so he'll help anyone that wanders in, not knowing which beer to try. read more

A-mazing! When I first moved into our town I kept looking for a decent wine store. My husband thought this place may be too 'snobby' and was worried. After coming here a few times, he totally changed his mind. Everyone is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, especially Chester. They even have fruit wines, which are generally hard to find. AND. I'm not a wine person, so I can't comment about the wine selection. It certainly looks impressive. The liquor selection is pretty well rounded, especially if you enjoy scotch. The beer selection is truly outstanding. I have shopped at The Cork in Riverside and been very impressed, but walking into the beer section at Main Street was a real eye opener. It's like The Cork on steroids - good steroids. They have beers chilled that I have never seen chilled anywhere else. Trust me, if you enjoy great beer, you MUST visit Main Street. The prices are a bit high compared to The Cork - not crazy, but a bit higher. read more

My week is not complete with out a visit to Mainstreet. I don't do the wine thing but they have a huge selection and tastings every week. Now beer is where it's at for Brien. They have a huge selection of craft brews. They keep a lot of them cold too. I love to try something different and they have a lot of something different. The staff is so damn friendly too. Chester is always there, I think he lives there. Justin is my beer guy, he knows so much about it he blows me away! If you haven't been there you must go. Place is great for my whiskey and bourbon fix on. With plenty of other selections and they have which is cool is little shot sized bottles near the front so you can buy and try without buying a bottle and wasting money if you don't like it. All in all this place is my first stop always when I need liquor. read more
