We went to Cork Keg & Spirits for the first time today (day before Thanksgiving), and I have to say, I think this is our new favorite liquor store. I was on the hunt for Johnnie Walker Green Label (which was sold out everywhere) and they had it. The gentlemen there were so polite and helpful. I also wanted to buy some whiskey for my uncle, and they were extremely knowledgable in suggesting the perfect one. I feel like we are going to be customers for life. Thank you so much for the great service, we will definitely be back. Highly highly recommend this store. read more

Place is convenient and have a decent selection, but they are price gouging things that are in limited distribution. A bottle of liquor I was looking for was sold out at Binnys and surprisingly Cork had it. Regular Retail is $29.99 everywhere else except Cork had it for $60. The employee even admitted that they called Binnys and other liquor stores and nobody had any left in stock, so they marked it up 100% I told them it wasn't right and walked out. Luckily I was able to find it at another local liquor store for $29.99!! Like I said, place is convenient and they have a decent selection of everything. Except after this, I'd rather take my business to Main Street in Countryside or Binnys where they don't price gouge. read more

Angel's Spirits is a place I'll drive a little bit farther for than Jewel or Dominicks. It's not the price, but the quality that makes me choose an independent, family-run store over popping into a huge supermarket. This store has only been in business for a few years and is large and clean inside. The previous reviewer was wrong; as this place has a large selection of wine, and a very satisfying collection of imported and American craft bears that are hard to find anywhere else. The staff is very friendly and helpful, unlike a Jewel (I don't enjoy standing in a line with a teenager screaming "21!!!!!" for over 10 minutes). If you want to pay not-so-cheap prices and get eye-rolled by an assistant grocery store manager because he or she has to hit the "liquor override" key or unlock your vodka, go to Jewel. If you like employees that offer real customer service and actually assist you in you purchase of fine spirits, go to Angel's. read more

In dire need of libations after a long afternoon of driving up to the far northside of the city, then to Logan Square, then back to the northside and yet again back to Logan and finally all the way back to the suburbs I was terribly excited to see the glowing neon lights of a liquor store. My friend suggested this place in the hopes it would carry her brand of beer and it was right up the street from her apartment. Upon walking up to the door I was wondering if they were in fact open as the interior is dimly lit, but after trying the door I was quite pleased to discover we hadn't come past closing. Upon entering you discover that it's really quite a small liquor store. They have a tiny wine selection, that I didn't even bother exploring as it was a beer night. They did have a small selection of micro-brews, which was surprising for a small suburban liquor store. Most of it wasn't in the cooler though, so if you're planning on picking up some random beer, plan to do so way ahead of the fact. They did have one type of Rogue and some Smithwicks, so I was a happy camper. There was a young guy, probably in his early 20's, working that night. He was pleasant and we started talking a little beer. He seemed to have a genuine interest in the topic, which was nice to see as a lot of young guys working at liquor stores are mostly there for the paycheck and the free booze. Overall, it's a small unimpressive liquor store with a friendly young guy working there. Nothing to really write home about, but for convenience and politeness I'll shop here again when it's too late or I'm too tired to drive to a bigger place. read more

Nice selection of craft beers, and a large inventory of wines (cheap beer and your typical spirits available here as well). The owners were friendly and chatty regarding craft beer, which is always fun for us. The one thing I didn't totally love is that you always felt watched here-- like not in an accusatory way, but the shelves and such are short so you are always in the eye line of the owners at the register. I didn't totally feel relaxed while looking, but I think that's just me being too sensitive. We will definitely come back to peruse! read more

Place Price Gouges! Stay Away! I use to come her all the time when it was Angles. Now the place is so expensive and employees are rude If you are looking for anything rare or little more hard to get, this place raises their prices from MSRP. For example, J.R. Weller bourbon is retail $29.99. however since it a limited stocked product, this dump charges $70. I even asked how come the price is so high and the employee told me "because you can't find it anywhere"...strange because Binnys, Main Street and Standard Market all have it and it's $29.99 I would recommend steering clear of this place, unless you are in a bind. Personally (even tho i'm a block away) would rather take my business to Jewel / Osco or take a ride to Main Street or Standard Market. read more

I went in this store months ago for the first time after it had recently changed ownership. The selection was pretty sparse and the prices weren't great. Fast forward a number of months, and a lot has changed. The selection has grown immeasurably, and there's a good variety of quality microbrews and liquors. Probably wouldn't go here for wine, but the beer selection is tremendous. Prices still seem a little high, but the proprietor Sid is so friendly and helpful that it almost doesn't matter. Accept Angel's for what it is - a small liquor store, but with a wider variety than you might expect from a place this size. I'm a beer fan, so stop in every once in a while to see what they've got. They don't have a huge selection, but there's plenty to choose from. I like the personal service as well. read more

It may look like your average neighborhood liquor store, but walk inside and you'll see it's actually more like a miniature Binny's. They have dozens of different beers to choose from, most of which are only seen rarely inside a Jewel or like store. There is also a rather large wine selection. I didn't really check out the spirits, so I won't comment. Today I came in around 1 PM, and even though the sign outside said "Open," I wasn't sure if it actually was. It was a bit dark inside, and I didn't immediately see anyone at the counter. It was my second time in here - the first time I was in to grab creme de cacao and was in a rush, but the beer selection caught my eye while in line. There are some good bargains, such as any Point Brewing 6-pack for $6.99 (I saw 4 different varieties), or 6-pack of Schlitz Gusto for $5. But while there are some bargains, and many of the other beers are about average, like Two Brothers or Lagunitas, others are pricey - most likely due to the brewer and not so much the store, but still. For example, a 12-pack sampler of Magic Hat was $18. An 8-pack of another brewer was $16. You really need to check by variety - prices can vary within brewer... 2 Bros. Domaine DuPage is $2 cheaper than Bitter End or Prairie Path, even though at Trader Joe's they're all basically the same price, IIRC. For the two times I've been in here, in listening to the staff talk with other customers, they know their stuff. When I was browsing, one guy was suggesting beer based on the weather/season. I don't choose based on that, but many do, so it was nice. And I do believe they will try to order for you if they don't carry it. There's also a small mix-and-match section for $10.49. Don't let the compact size fool you - there is a surprising amount of variety in such a small layout. It's definitely worth a look. read more

Of course there is always 'better', BUT NOT IN THE SURROUNDING AREA! Of course the shop can have more selection, what store can't. Their wine, liquor and brews are all diverse and good. The owner has done a GREAT job starting a business in a part of the suburb's that is void of good liquor and micro-brews. Their price is good and the advice is genuine. I have never been suggested a product in hopes of them making a sale the couple time's I have asked for help. They stand behind their suggestions and aren't pushy. I am a definitely a fan! read more
