Great customer service. The lady at the register is always so nice and personable. The selection here is GREAT, you can pretty much find almost anything your looking for. I've noticed they have a lot of the same beers Trader Joe's have. We like going here for the selection but it's an added bonus that the people are friendly as well. Sometimes it seems hard to find nice people in customer service anymore so it's a breath of fresh air when you find it. Prestige has come in handy on at least two occasions when visiting the Chicago 'burbs. We're up in this area often due to my fiance's family living here; it's nice to have a liquor store to depend on. On our first visit, we were on the hunt for Jeppson's Malört. If you've never tried this Illinois delicacy - don't. This wormwood "sweetest Swedish liqueur" has a bitter taste that sticks around for many ... many ... minutes after taking the smallest of sips. Seriously, this spirit invades your mouth and taste buds with a taste akin to battery acid mixed with licorice mixed with Underberg bitters and doesn't let go. It's pretty much the worst tasting alcohol ever. So why did we seek it out? My fiance's coworker had seen the mock "Jeppson's Malort Unaired Commercial" on YouTube (definitely look this up), and since you can only get it in Illinois, he asked us to pick him up a bottle. And we had to get a bottle too. How bad could it actually taste? (And if you're wondering the same thing to yourself, I urge you to get a bottle. Watching friend's faces when they actually smell and taste this terrible liquor is entertainment in itself.) Anyway, back to Prestige. We walked in and asked the clerk where we could find Jeppson's Malört. He gave us a raised eyebrow of "Are you sure? Oh, you're tourists," but helpfully, showed us where it was kept on the shelf. And while we were picking this up, I noticed that their selection of other spirits wasn't too shabby either. On a return trip, we picked up some beer for a more tame, better tasting night in town. Being that I'm from Kentucky, I was delighted to find some of my local beers in the selection at Prestige as well. Some of these I didn't know they distributed in Illinois. On both occasions, the clerks were friendly and helpful. It's not so big of a liquor store where you get lost in selection, but you can find what you're looking for -- and probably a few other bottles that catch your eye too. Funny how you can drive by places for years and never give them a second glance . . .until you need them. And hard to believe I could miss this place with it's prominent corner location and large sign! That being said- I needed a special beer for a visiting friend and I didn't have a lot of time to head to my regular liquor store. Cue Yelp mobile that pointed me to Prestige. I walked in, took a look around the neatly organized store and was warmly greeted by the cashier up front who pointed me to the back and to the "guy who knows beer"! I made my request, got the beer and was back on my way in no time! And that friendly cashier? Took excellent care of me given his credit card machine wasn't working but he was able to get me on my way with minimal fuss. But the best news? My visiting friend left my house happy that I cared enough to get him his favorite beer! You can bet Prestige Liquors is now on my list of "go to" places! read more

Very nice high-quality beer selection. At first glance a craft-beer aficionado will think the beer section is a bit small, but explore a bit. They have a varied selection in a few coolers and they have beer scattered in a couple of places on their shelves in the back. This weekend I visited for my first time and found a couple of things that I haven't seen anywhere else. This is definitely on my list of stores to visit when I want to get some great beer. Update: 12/31/2011 - an update I should have added a long time ago. I also love whisky - not so much American whiskey though - and their whisky selection is very, very good considering the size of the store. Today I visited and found some more beers I've not seen anywhere else. I also wanted to get some Johnnie Walker Double Black, which Binny's doesn't even have (????) and Prestige had it (a great whisky by the way). I real local gem. read more

This is one of my favorite liquor stores. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable; happy to help you look for a bottle or give you a recommendation. The the spirit selection there is phenomenal. Highly recommended for both the casual beer run and the rare bottle hunts. read more

I came here looking for a specific wine that I had tried at a restaurant and liked. Not 5 feet into the store, a sales woman offered to help me find what i needed. She took me directly to the wine, and upon seeing they didn't have what I wanted, called the manager, just to be sure. The manager came out and looked, and confirmed they didn't have it. She proceeded to show me what their best sellers were in a few price points. She didn't give me any personal recommendations, but the popular sellers ended up being good enough. She then gave me the space I needed to just look and think. The one I selected ended up being very good. The store was nicely organized, but I didn't see any clear signage about what was where... If they were busier, you might get a little lost. They host weekly wine tastings on Saturdays, I would love to go back for one of those! Thanks for the help, prestige!! read more

I love this store and their OUTSTANDING customer service!! My parents live nearby, but I live out of state. For years I have been calling the 2 managers of this store and they help me pick out a nice wine, specialty beer or liquor depending on what is new or interesting. I usually stop in once or twice a week on my beer hunting journeys. The beer guy Craig is excellent, they get a great selection of standard and rare stuff. Their bourbon and wine departments are also excellent. They are one of the official Pappy Van Winkle shops in the Chicagoland area, look for the annual shipment in November sometime. We needed a bottle of wine for the byob we went to last night, and this corner liquor store was a great choice! They had a great wine selection and my husband was captivated by their selection of fine scotch, lots of high end bottles not found in a lot of liquor stores. If you are in this area, it's a solid place to get wine and so forth, and the help is very friendly and prices seem good. read more

Never. Again. Being in the bar and restaurant business, I've been coming here very regularly for 6 years. One random visit, they tell me a check bounced. Mind you, even if I was that financially irresponsible, I'm a JP Morgan client, they put the checks through regardless. (by no means am i trying to sound self important, but facts are facts, and they cover huge overdrafts if need be) And, the countless times I stopped in after, they still have not asked me to settle this. Hmmmm... Recently, I go to buy my daughter a candy bar and a bottle of wine for a dear friend, as part of a care package for putting his dog to sleep. Cue the violins, but this is the 1st emotional manipulation I'm using ;) There are more. I go to pay, not even REMOTELY thinking twice about a check...cashier is acting weird. I know ALL them VERY well, so I'm like yo?! Que pasa? The other employee walks out of the office (directly above us, she may as well stand on a podium) and shouts you can't write checks anymore...I'm looking at her like are you for real?! A) I've been countless times since said incident B) they have YET to acknowledge my inquisition for proof/my attempt to settle the issue C) they know I live a block away, I haven't been hiding for the mysterious like $30 check...take it and say I owe you next time D) their handling of the situation was Customer Service 101. Does a waitress shout across a restaurant when a credit card is declined?! I'm pretty laid back, and I am PISSED. My daughter cried bc she knew my back pain was horrific that day, I could barely walk, and I ran out to make a gesture to a friend. My 8 year old has more common sense and decency. They lost a very loyal customer. And it's worth mentioning, their wine selection is TRULY nothing special. I promise it's every cliche brand, with not much thought. Today I decided to stop and see if Prestige carried a certain wine. Well they did, a wine I have a hard time finding. The wine section was extensive and very well priced. The reason I am giving this establishment 5 stars is because 1. The place is immaculate 2. I was greeted immediately and asked if I needed help. 3. the lovely woman and the counter could not have been more helpful and as nice. I think this day in age you just don't experience warm, friendly service anymore. I will definitely make this my go to stop for any of my alcohol purchases! read more

Wine on sale at this store is dead. Never buy anything on sale or clearance!!! I live down the street from this store and have been there 4 times in the past 2 months. I purchased items on sale and not on sale and every item that was purchased on sale or clearance was old. Very disappointed!! Will continue to purchase from Jewel or Binny's but not here. read more

Whenever I need to buy wine/champagne/liquor for a special event or a special gift, this is my "go to" place. Period! I give them a price range and the nature of the occasion, and the attendant will invariably come up with 3-5 suitable choices. They will explain any singular differences amongst the suggestions, and how these differences might be pluses or minuses for the intended use or recipient. Sometimes, they will mention their personal fave, sometimes not. I do really welcome the fact that they provide personalized attention, provide the information, and then let you make your own informed decision. They also have some nice little "go withs"- such as bar munchies and bottle wrappings- so that this can be a "one stop" shop for me. read more
