For the past three months the power has been out in one section of our tiny condo in San Jose. We had another electrician come out to view our problem, but they could not find it and said they would recommend removing a portion of our wall and ceiling to check the wiring which may have shorted somewhere in between. Also, it would be $85 an hour, not including parts to do the job. Since neither of us had time to deal with the issue due to work schedules, we put it off. Now that we're in contract to purchase another property and plan to rent this unit, we needed to repair the electrical. I contacted a recommended electrician from a list composed by a Realtor who created "The Northside Yellow Pages" (which is where we plan on moving). Dean Pappas of Pappas Electrical showed up at the agreed upon time, was friendly and courteous, and carefully, but quickly, checked all of our outlets and switches. He was thorough and found an outlet that I didn't even know existed by moving our heavy dresser. That was the culprit which he managed to fix in no time at all! Simply amazing. It took a good two hours or so to go through our cluttered place (remember we're still packing for our move) and make the repair. No walls or ceilings were torn out thankfully and he charged a small flat fee for the service call. If I could select more than 5 stars, I would. People like Dean Pappas are worth more than their weight in gold for the excellent and reliable services they provide.

I used him for a small project at a rental house In Soquel. He strung out the time on the job and charged me double or more of what it should have cost. I needed it done soon. He has an edge to him, and he seems very nice and tries to be your best buddy at first, but hes very intense and easily flips if you question anything. He called for work a week or 2 ago asking if I had any projects for him. I then called back and had a small transformer issue at another house. He said that basically he might be there all day without even looking at the job. My radar went up another red flag. He to make it seem like everything's going to take a long time. He hadnt even asked me what the issue was! Again he had to bring another guy for a simple transformer issue for some track lights in a ceiling. Then he shows up 40 minutes late gets out of his car and starts to talk down to me. Insane. He has no customer service skills and is very aggressive, I would not recommend him to anyone for anything.

Duane was polite and thoughtful in his explanation, never talking down to me, even though I did not possess an equal understanding of the technical process he clearly was in command of. When I tried to rush myself, feeling I was imposing and taking too much of his time, he calmly assured me it was important to him that I understood what I was asking for, and how it may not best serve me as a viable solution. In fact, to the contrary of a solution, what I sought to install may be instead *counterproductive, and he explained "Why it would be so" pragmatically.
