I am so appreciative. Victor showed up very quickly, after my initial call. I thought, I was calling a handyman: but he said, he was a general contractor and had a license number posted. For 28 years, I have personally been re-painting the interior of my rentals.Because, I am getting old and had committed to a huge amount of volunteer work the last two weeks, plus have a new tenant moving in on the first: I decided to splurge and have the interior professionally painted. I have no idea if $3000, for 2 coats of Kelly Moore on an 800 square foot interior was a good price ( excluding bath and closet). I am happy, they got it done, in one week. The last tenant smoked, burned candles and used the wood burning stove ( not authorized): so the paint had soot, stains and was marked up. The place looks great, now! Victor and his team did an excellent job with several project on our house. Victor performed a walk-through to determine/discuss the scope of work, and promptly provided an estimate. After some fine-tuning due to my changing some of the scope, we agreed to the estimate and his team was ready to work the following week. The first project we hired Victor for was to complete a partially-finished garage, which included; patching an prepping the existing drywall, installing baseboard, chemically etching and applying epoxy coating to cement floor, and finish painting the garage. Victor's team was prompt, friendly, professional, and did quality work. As a result of Victor's work on the first project, we hired him to finish out a basement space for use as an office, which included; repairing and prepping drywall, removing an old doorway to the garage, removing and installing a new glass panel door with the door frame, building a foundation box shelf, installing vinyl plank flooring, installing baseboard, and applying finish paint. Unfortunately, shortly after we finished the garage, we discovered a leak from the bathtub upstairs and needed to cut a hole in the ceiling of the newly-finished garage to make the repair. Victor was super responsive, and had a team member out right away to help. The leak was repaired and the opening in the ceiling patched. My house was in serious need of painting. When I got it painted years ago I was not very familiar with the process and chose the cheapest and fasted painter (don't do this). I since learned from that experience that I needed to consider other factors than price alone but prep work, types of paint, number of coats, how it's applied, types of primer, power washing process, sanding and scrapping, and so on. This time speed and cost alone were not motivators but doing a thorough job and doing it correctly. To start, the response time and communication from Victor the Handyman (Division Painting) was spot on and the quote I received was VERY detailed as to what services would be provided. We met and reviewed the contract to ensure what we wanted is what we received and we left no open items. Victor kept us up to date with the various stages of the processes. He was on site every day to ensure his crew was delivering the level of quality we expected and also inspected their work to ensure things stayed on track. He and the crew spent the majority of the time prepping the house; power washing, priming, sanding/scrapping, etc. The front of my house faces the East and the back the West with full ocean view so all of the wind, rain, salt air and so on hits the back, which needed the most prep work. Victor worked with my wife and provided color sample to ensure the color she wanted was exactly what would be used. He even got some samples and painted a small section of the house so she could see how it would look. I am glad he did that because the color she thought she liked, she didn't. We eventually made a decision and we really like the color and I think the house came out GREAT. I have serious OCD when it comes to detailed work and when something does not look right or is out of place it drives me nuts until it's fixed. I had no issue with the job Victor and his crew did. Some of my neighbors were asking for his number to get some work done on their houses and I am getting constant compliments about the house. I have had Victor's crew help me with installing a cat door into a closet door (so I could hide the litter box) and painting the door and both times they were professional, skilled, and efficient at their jobs. Prior to the start of the project, Victor and his crew picked up the new closet door that we were using to install the cat door in. They removed the original closet door (that I'm keeping in the garage to reinstall when I decide to move out since I'm in a rented apartment) before starting the project and cleaned up afterwards. His crew were friendly and I did not have any difficulty communicating with them. They wore face masks for COVID while working in my apartment. Victor is well deserving of his 5-star reviews on Yelp! It was one of the main reasons I had him come out and do a bid on my property. He recently completed a job at one of the commercial buildings my mom and I lease out in Seaside, and he and his crew did a phenomenal job at a very reasonable price. Victor takes the time to ensure that everything is done by the book, which I highly respect (many contractors I've worked with in the past have tried to bypass things like permits and city involvement just to cut corners and make extra money). He followed all city building code requirements to the tee, secured all the permits and approvals necessary before he started the project, and constantly communicated with me (almost daily) to ensure I knew exactly what he was doing and why during the entire timeline for my demo, electrical re-work and remodel. I've never communicated so much with a contractor before, and I have to say, it was a refreshing change and made me feel that I was going to get precisely what I requested - and I did and then some. My building came out beautifully and better than anticipated; his attention to detail and workmanship was top-notch. He is also a fantastic painter, and he and his crew also painted the entire inside of my building. Again, from picking the swatches to ensuring everything was as I wanted, Victor did a great job all around. He actually answered the phone, understood what work I wanted done, came out to the house that day, went to Home Depot that evening, texted options to me, had an estimate for the work within 12 hours, and was ready to start work within a week. I contacted Victor over the phone, and we scheduled an appointment to get an estimate. Victor arrived on time, and I pointed out the areas I needed some work done on my house, a small balcony and a replacement of small skylights trim, siding, and flashing. Victor indicated that he would get back to me with an estimate. I also contacted 2 other contractors and received estimates for the work. Since I live in a Condo Association, I went into the California Contractors State License Board to check the status of each contractor's license and liability insurance with the exception of Victor's as I did not have his license number at the time. I sent several text messages to Victor to get his license number, but to this day, I have not received a reply with his license number. I then received Victor's bid for the jobs. In comparing his bid with those of the other 2 contractors, Victor's was almost 3 times as much for the labor and materials. I then contacted the California Department of Industrial Relations to obtain information as to the prevailing wage for that kind of work. I received information regarding the prevailing wage for this kind of work in the Monterey area and in comparing it with all the contractors' bids, Victor's was more than 3 times above the State and County level. Since I never received Victor's Contractor's license, and Victor represented himself as being a Licensed Contractor, I called the State Licensing Board and provided his business name and address, "Victor the Handyman, 6 Seminole Ct, Seaside, CA 93955, phone (831) 383-1825." The State Licensing Board could not find any General Contractor License under that name, address, or phone number. " I told them about my experience regarding the excessive cost and they asked me if I wanted to file a complaint as impersonating a Licensed Contractor carried some fines and penalties which could be prosecuted by the local DA; however, I declined as this would have been a lengthy process and besides, I believe in karma. If a person is dishonest, sooner or later things will catch up with that person in one way or another. I then contacted Victor to enquire as to the excessive costs. Victor just replied that he had a really high overhead (well, I'm not paying for his 401K and his kids education LOL). My advice is do your homework and conduct a small background check before hiring this guy. If he is not in fact a licensed contractor, the potential liability ramifications can cost you dearly, i.e., one of his workers gets injured while on your property and you get sued, or if he does a shoddy job, you need to be able to take legal action. In any case, if someone has Victor's contractor license, I'd like to get it. read more

We are so happy with the services from Victor the Handyman. Victor answered e mails quickly and we were able to schedule a time that worked for both of us. We were scheduled for drape installation at 9:00 AM this morning and Sergio arrived on time. Sergio was efficient and thorough. He consulted with me along the way. He had the rods and curtains up in about an hour. Sergio made sure the rods were attached to support beams for stability. Which I greatly appreciate. He also went out of his way to repair a problem we were having with the back door. I will request Sergio again for future jobs. He is knowledgeable and very kind.
