They had a good amount of seating and is a lovely place to chat with friends while having desserts and tea. The staff are all kind. The strawberry nutella crepe was divine. They added so much nutella and strawberries. The crepe was the perfect size and had good thickness. They even added strawberry and chocolate drizzle on top. After eating the crepe, having a slice of orange and pineapple adds the perfect hint of freshness. It was a very very cold new year's eve and I was in desperate need for something sweet and warming , yet literally nothing was open. As I started to give up hope and head to search for fireworks, I saw the faint glimmer of the LED cafe sign of Maison Bagatelle. Not knowing what to expect, I walked in and immediately breathed a sigh of relief. Not only was it literally a welcome warmth, but the interior is beautiful looking like it's come straight out of the french renaissance. Paintings and old chairs set up, and pastries that looked like they came off straight off the shelves in Paris. Unfortunately I had already eaten otherwise I definitely would've taken advantage fully of what Maison Bagatelle had to offer. I opted for a salted caramel hot chocolate which was just what I needed. We were looking for a place to warm up and refuel after our day of touring Notre Dame and the Museum of Archeology and History, and before we started our uphill trek back to our AirBnB in the Quartier des Spectacles neighborhood. We went into four spots that didn't work (they had a long wait, no seating, etc.). We happened to notice this place as we were very cold and growing increasingly hangry. It was busy, but we found the one open table (score!) and settled in. Loved the shabby chic decor - it felt like the perfect place for tea, so that's what I got, along with the Florentine crepe. It came with a side salad, simple and fresh with a nice dressing. My sister and niece both had hot chocolate and savory crepes (the Complete and the Big and Good). And we split the Exotica - a sweet crepe with Nutella, banana and coconut. Everything was tasty, portions were large (we all took leftovers, which were great the next day), the meal was affordable, the vibe was nice. My daughter got two scoops of gelato, my wife got a cheesecake and I will get, if lucky, whatever leftover they'll have. Gelato is good and so is the cheesecake. We wandered into this place for some Crepes. While the food was fine, the experience was extremely inhospitable. Before we sat down, they asked if we were going to order crepes. We confirmed, sat down, and later placed our order. We had two adults and three young children and wanted to order a mix of crepes, drinks, and ice cream. The older gentleman said we had to order FIVE crepes in order to sit. I was about to walk out but offered to order two crepes for the table (mind you the place was about 75% empty). He obliged. Later upon receiving our teas (no sugar or spoons, just the mug w the tea bags), I asked for a plate to place our tea bags after steeping. And the woman seemed very puzzled by my request. Finally there was a group of women who sat down near us and placed a large order. (Lucky for them, they ordered enough crepes to avoid the consternation of the staff!). After a long wait one of the women indicated that they messed up her order. I overheard the owner refusing to make any change to the order and he made the woman return to the table and consume the mistaken order. Appalling! I was planning to express our displeasure through our tip. But when we got our final bill, I discovered that the tip was conveniently charged automatically. I don't know why but these shop keepers appear to have a massive chip on their shoulders when it comes to service. I think they should rethink their career choices. read more
