I…read morecame here with my daughter hoping for a relaxing afternoon of sun and pool time, and while it has potential, there were several limitations that made it less enjoyable than expected. Timing really matters here. It is best to come during off hours if you want any chance of getting a lounge chair to set your belongings down or take a break. When it is busy, seating is very limited and can get crowded quickly. The pool itself is not ideal for young children or anyone expecting a gradual entry. There is no graded or zero-depth entrance. Instead, you enter via a ladder directly into about four feet of water, with a rope separating this area from the deeper section. This setup may be fine for confident swimmers, but it felt less family-friendly than anticipated. Conversely, if you are looking to swim laps, this is not a lap pool. It is purely recreational. The changing and bathroom area is very open, and the showers offer no privacy. The shower water was also quite cold, which was not especially comfortable, particularly for kids. If you are expecting enclosed changing rooms or warm showers, this may be disappointing. Parking is public street parking only, paid at meters, which adds another layer of planning and cost. Overall, while the beach house is in a beautiful spot and can be enjoyable under the right circumstances, the lack of amenities, limited seating, and less-than-ideal pool and changing facilities make it hard to fully relax or recommend, especially for families with young children.

Summer is here and so is the Hollister House. And if you have a stylish teen in your household,…read morethey will love this place! Especially since a lot of what happens here is: FREE! There are FREE LIVE CONCERTS & ACTIVITIES FOR FANS OF HOLLISTER scheduled for various dates between May 23rd and August 3rd 2014..Also on site are DJs, a Juice Bar, Yoga Lessons, Beach Volleyball, Fashion Shows, Free Food & Snacks. There are games galore to play in the backyard like ping pong. Of course, in the meantime, the Hollister brand is being pimped big time, along with Abercrombie & Fitch--a Hollister corporate partner. But being close enough to the beautiful Santa Monica beach to hear the ocean cannot hurt the "Cali branding" and seems to help equate Hollister with cool , fashionable kids and happy memories of fun in the summertime. I went online to see if there were any free tickets left for a teen wanting to visit the Beach House for a show and darn it--they were all sold out and wait listing. Hollister hopefuls must be at least 14 years old and reside in the greater Los Angeles, CA. area to apply. Parental consent is required for anyone under 18 to attend performances. Photograph submissions with applications of you dressing in your best 'So Cal style' will decide whether you are emailed an eticket or not. Though the Hollister House is clearly a shill for Hollister clothing, I can't help but at least give it 4 YELP STARS for making a fun place for tweens & teens to enjoy the action.

The tub is the highlight. One comment would be that when we checked in with Anthony, who was so sweet to our toddler, also kept telling us we were getting upgraded to a very nice room. We got all excited. It was a normal room. The "very nice upgrade" just meant that we were on floor 5. I barely call that an upgrade but ok. - we asked for a crib, and we go a nice crib with a cute little baby soap kit from noodle and boo- very nice touch. And baby robes for the kids- my toddler loved it. My toddler was on a rollaway bed and they were super accommodating about it- great experience on that front. - balconies are tiny and I never saw anyone out when I sat out - pool staff was super nice. It was a chilly weekend and the pool could have been warmer (I couldn't get in, but I really don't like cold water). - the beach chairs are also very nice and we were surprised to find them available - they were extremely pleasant about our friends visiting us every day! - the lobby waiter during the day was almost inexistant. We had to go to the bar to ask for drinks. The woman at night was great. Now for the food...: - coast has a great breakfast, the lemon ricotta pancakes are excellent (though stupid expensive for pancakes) - pico is a good spot for shrimp cocktail and calamari. Hasn't seen shrimps that big in a long time. - overall the food was good everywhere but way overpriced.... The kids menu are ridiculous... hard to justify spending $28 on kids pancakes. That being said, the portions were the same as adult portions... maybe make the portions smaller, and price more accessible? Overall we had a great stay, and while on the expensive side, we agreed we would come back. Nicely done!

This happened on 7/28/2024. I walked home and within a few hours, I began projectile vomiting, among other things. I definitely know it was the breakfast steak, which I usually never get. I thought it would pass in a few days, no big deal. It did not, and it turned into Sepsis and Pancolitis within a week. I was bleeding internally and by the next Sunday, I called the paramedics to my home because I could not stand up. I almost lost my life. I spent almost 40 days in the hospital over the next 4 months - it's now May 2026 and I still need one surgery that my insurance does not cover. I had every complication under the sun. I lost my home, my new office that I just signed the lease for with an ocean view, my vehicle, my good credit, but most importantly, my good health. I had never been admitted to the hospital before in my life. I am a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, so I lived a very healthy lifestyle, working out frequently, clean diet. I contacted ETC Hotel group, Edward, who owns the Coast Restaurant in Shutters along with Casa Del Mar next door. They had no response for me. I am forced to get a lawyer now. I was supposed to join LAXPD that year. I already finished testing. This has, clearly, been put on hold. Edward was the one who did not get back to me. I emailed corporate and his personal email. Update: June 9, 2026. Hello Elica Y. I am highly offended by your response. Please, no response is better than a lie. There was no comprehensive review. Your insurance company, United, requested information from my lawyers which has not been sent out yet. In fact, according to my bank statements, I dined at your restaurant, Coast, the evening before AND the morning of this incident. Chef Vitorrio would always bring out food for me as we were very friendly and I was a local. Do better. Say nothing.

Hours are extremely limited, so I figured I might as well take advantage of it. Plus, I had already paid $10 for parking for the day. There are plenty of comfortable places to sit, relax and enjoy the ocean view near this beautiful dwelling, or you can grab a bite to eat at the Back On The Beach Cafe. I wandered into the Marion Davies Guest House soon after it opened that Sunday, and docent Susan McCarthy gave me and another couple a wonderful tour. It was fascinating to learn this was only one of the guest quarters on this oceanfront property, along with the lavish 110-room mansion the actress shared with William Randolph Hearst. Sadly, everything else except one pool was bulldozed for a parking lot! Though Davies had numerous affairs, she remained Hearst's mistress until he died. They entertained a variety of celebrities here, including Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, Pola Negri, David Niven and Joan Crawford. Peruse the photos on the walls, and watch the video, "The True Story of Marion Davies," for a delicious dose of Hollywood history. Unfortunately, there is no period furniture, but that's probably why anyone can rent the space for events. Step back in time, and check it out.

Make reservations because the place fills up quickly over the lunch hour. The patio is where it is at. No idea if there is parking -- we walked from our office at the Colorado Center. It had been a while since I had been here and they have added to their menu. I love the bowls and that you can make your own by picking the base (noodles - rice or vermicelli, rice -- jasmine or brown), choose a sauce (garlic lime, peanut or sweet chili), adding a protein (tofu and mushroom, chicken, pork, beef or shrimp) and finally you can add a topping (crispy onions, yams, leek crisps or pesto) -- those are $.75 extra. My bowl was so delicious -- I had the Tofu and Shitake mushroom bowl and it was so delicious and fresh I wanted to lick the plate. I also decided to try a black sesame latte -- it was ok, not as good as I wanted it to be. There is also a little kitchen for a quick take away meal if you don't have time -- if you never went to the bathroom you might not know it existed because you have to walk through the restaurant (from the patio) to see the take away section. The service is sometimes great and sometimes spotty depending on how busy they are.
