This was a 5 min. Walk from our inn, we didn't know there was so much more behind us. We had to use the derby laundry mat and this was on the way there. So we made sure to try it out for dinner. We didn't make reservations and you need to. So we sat at the bar. The bartender- Sean was friendly! He made our last dinner night in Salem great. My daughter and I ordered a salad with salmon. We wanted something light and fresh and this hit the spot. The salad was perfectly dressed and salmon perfectly cooked and crispy skin on! I wasn't a fan of the sangria but I'm not a drinker, but he made my daughter a virgin cactus margarita and she loved it. We sat with 2 others at the bar and they were a pleasure to talk to as well. Just another tourist trap. High prices- sub-par food. Got the smash burger, it wasn't a smash burger. It was a stupid burger, stacked 7 inches high with a wooden stake in it to keep the idiot burger from toppling. They do not serve fries here, you get just a sprinkle of potato chips- literally 15 tiny chips. $23, by the way. The burger was cooked well done and the meat had no flavor, the special sauce sucked and the tomato and arugula was sloppy. The patties were regular burgers, not smash burgers. The server told be to smash the entire burger down to make it a smashburger- WTF??? It all fell apart as soon as I took the wooden stick out as I knew it would. I had two bites and that was it. I let the server know I didn't like it and she was personally offended and told me "everyone loves our smash burger." Just bring me the check and leave me alone. Completely ridiculous!!!!! It was clean, so two stars. Find anyplace else to eat and you will do great. read more

Far and away the best meal I've had since moving to Boston! We ordered the Mediterranean mezze and the Italian sandwich. The mezze was so flavorful, fresh, fun, and filling! We didn't even have room for the sandwich by the time we finished. Everything was perfect and I couldn't stop smiling while eating it! A great family-owned business. I got the 1863 sandwich, which came with a side salad (all sandwiches come with one). Definitely a top-notch sandwich with fresh ingredients. Food was ok but the service was the worst ever. My 8 year old grand son is autistic and this restaurant doesn't cater to children. When he found out that they didn't offer french fries, he had a major incident. The waitress with the owners direction told us to get "it" out of there. A really nice and quaint location. Service was very friendly and helpful. For being quaint, there is adequate seating, tables rotate quickly. You'll want to try this when visiting the Edgartown area. A diverse menu. I'm from Arizona and the Mexican food is primo. I needed to fuel up that day as we rented bikes from port, so I got the huevos rancheros. It was good, but not great. My friends got the chicken sandwich (reported to be tasty) and the grilled cheese, which seemed to be the winner. It was stacked with other ingredients besides cheese, including potato chips - again, the winner meal. I'd definitely go again. Side note, I drank the tap water with my meal, it was crystal clear and no funky chemical taste. read more

Have been here twice now and both times the food has been amazing! Freshly made and it always tastes so good. It's a cozy space with a lovely bar to one side. A nice selection of drinks to choose from. Everyone working here is welcoming and provides great service! Street parking so parking spots may be a challenge to find depending on the time of year, but it's a doable walk from the main part of town. Will definitely be back! read more

I'm going to give them some grace because I feel like I went on an "off day." I don't know if someone called out but it basically seemed like there was one person behind the bar, one person waiting on the restaurant, and one or two people making the meals in the back area. It took awhile to get seated, to place our orders, et cetera, which was a little crazy given how small the restaurant was. By the time we ordered they were basically "out" of half the foods on the menu. That being said, I think this was a fluke. They either experienced a weirdly unexpected lunch rush before we stopped in (it's off-season after all) or maybe people called in sick to their shifts. Everyone was kind and apologetic, and more importantly, the food was INCREDIBLE. Seriously blown away by the sandwiches and cocktails. Everything was so fresh, so carefully and lovingly assembled. The sandwich portions were generous and the spirit pours weren't light. I would 100% go back for another delicious meal, although next time I might try going earlier in the week or earlier in the day (maybe both) when ingredients are more likely to be in-stock. read more

We stopped in for a few drinks and some AC on a hot summer day before our ferry back to Boston and ended up cancelling our ferry back and staying for the service, atmosphere and food! Our waiter Eric soon became our best friend and was so kind and funny and made the whole experience worth it! Our pickle loving friend said their pickles were the best she ever had and the drinks were crisp and yummy! We ordered some popcorn chicken for the ride home and they were by far the best appetizer weve ever had! If you are ever in Salem come for the witches but stay for maitland farm kitchen and spirits! I was so impressed with this place! My mom wanted to go for her bday dinner...the catch is her birthday was 5 days before Halloween! I agreed assuming we'd have to wait hours due to the October Salem craziness. I was wrong. We arrived and were greeted immediately by a very kind host. He explained that there was a 45 minute wait and he'd be happy to add our names to the waitlist. We went for a walk and about 20 minutes later he called and our table was ready. Our server came over immediately and took our drink order. I was thrilled that they had bottled coke as I don't drink alcohol, but it still felt like a treat! We split the Caesar salad to start and it was delicious. We expected a longer wait for the food but it came very quickly. For my entree, I got the Jean Louis sandwich. I don't think I even have words for how good this was. Seriously...I've been thinking about this sandwich ever since and craving it! my mom got the fall vegetable panzanella. She said it was absolutely delicious. You can tell they value the quality of food they put out and put their hearts into every recipe. And the potions are huge. We both had leftovers for the next day. Everything from the atmosphere, service, and food were 10/10. I always love supporting a local business and this is one I cannot wait to go back to. read more

all i can say is this place is absolutely mind blowing. the food was amazing, portion sizes are excellent. our waitress was amazing and we kept small talk the whole time. she was very attendant as well. the wait was only around 30 minutes to initially get in. the food took around 15 minutes, which is not bad at all for how busy salem gets in october. the decorations and vibe of the place are amazing, there's detail every you look and it was very clean. the food is all locally sourced as well! pricing varies, but you can split a huge sandwhich for ~$20 ($4 split fee). 100% recommend though! read more

The mushroom tartine was amazing! Highly recommend. It has a great balance of flavors and the pesto was exceptional. There was a long wait time so get a reservation. The ribeye French dip was tender and melted in your mouth. The au jus is salty, but great with the sandwich. The chicken sandwich was good, but I think it would be even better grilled instead of fried. The prickly pear marg was very tart so be ready; if you want sweet don't order it. Magical! How do they do it? I love my wine, but was 100% happy with the interesting mocktails, especially the one with the jalepeño peppers. But, I hear that now they can serve booze, so wine lovers and mocktail lovers alike can find their groove here. The pickle sandwiches are outstanding, as well as the mushroom soup and the Italian sandwich. I absolutely love the idea of the Jean Louis sandwich (IYKYK) and the reality is that it's one of the best sandwiches EVER. This is the kind of place where, when you see the sandwich, you say, "This is a lot. I'm going to eat half and take half of it home."
