The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We ordered a variety of dishes with mixed results. I really enjoyed the fish and chips, but my teens weren't fans of their pizzas. The lobster roll was OK, but felt overpriced for what you get. Overall, it's a good spot for families, couples, or larger groups, especially if you're looking to enjoy the view and waterfront setting. read more

Salem Massachusetts is a Gem all on its on. The LongBoards Restaurant and bar was a pet friendly and delightful surprise. The staff was outgoing and welcoming, the facility was clean, trendy, and vibrant. There was twenty some Televisions playing a wide array of sports. We ordered the Garlic Shrimp Tortellini and fish and chips. Both were perfectly cooked and fresh, fresh, fresh! The shrimps were larger prawn style and there as a fair amount in the meal! A rrived on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It was a good day out so it was very cold inside. Looked at the menu ahead of time so I chose this place because I wanted the French dip. Unfortunately, they were out of the item for the day so I had to choose something else. I got the chicken house quesadilla and the person I came with got the hot honey chicken sandwich. The quesadilla was okay, not a lot of flavor. The hot honey chicken sandwich was good as well as the fries. Overall, everything was just okay. The server was very attentive and nice. We went on valentine's day in the morning. I love the location of it, especially being in Salem near the water and the boats look like they're frozen in time. It gives very bar food and bar ambiance. I love that. They have some games for the kids, but the game wasn't working properly. The chicken fingers that my son got were just okay and kind of lacked a new flavor. The chicken sandwich I got was good, but would definitely not be back for that because again it wasn't anything special. The raspberry lime ricky drink was good, but I really wish they had a frozen mudslide cocktail. The server was attentive and nice so no complaints there. I just ordered the Leviathan lobster sandwich and it was horrible. it lacked any flavor, needed more mayo, and the bread that the lobster was on was practically stale no flavor dry. The onion rings that came with. It were obviously frozen and the oil tasted like it was from yesterday or earlier in the week. Had lunch here and the location is superb! The food was good, my son raved about his lobster quesadilla! My husband got the lobster roll and clam chowder, both were also excellent! The reason for the 4 stars is I ordered the tips and tails which is their version of surf and turf. The steak was delicious! I really enjoyed it! But my lobster was so sad.. you can see how cooked to death it was in the picture. Hardly any meat and so cooked that it was glued to the shell! Difficult to remove. I'm convinced they took my lobster for my husband's lobster roll bc there was no shortage of lobster there? Excellent lobster flatbread! Go for this! The crust was crunchy but not too thin and has their own special cheese blend. The flavors were on point! He ordered a Boilmaker, which is a beer with a shot that you drop into the beer. Managers,just remember to tell your servers how that's done, because my husband was served a beer bottle and a shot on the side. It was the wrong beer as well and they corrected it but, we had to explain how to serve it and then they got us a glass. ;) otherwise it's very much like a dive bar feel on a Florida beach. read more

It was such a beautiful Saturday to enjoy dining outdoors! At Longboards we had a great view, our waiter was awesome, constantly checking up on us and food was very good! I mean it's bar food but it was good! They had gluten free options, marked on the menu which made it much easier to order. I thought prices were pretty good too. Can't complain ! Our server was very kind and they checked to see where we would prefer to sit, outside under an umbrella or in the porch area. we chose under an umbrella. our server came over about 2-5 mins later and greeted us and asked what we wanted to drink, we got some mocktails and a cocktail. all were good strawberry lemonade, strawberry and club soda with lemon, and a strawberry lemon drop. we got pretzel sticks to start they came out hot with beer cheese, mustard, and honey mustard. very tasty and you get 4 of them. then for our entrees we got the lobster quesadilla, bbq brisket quesadilla (gf), and a chicken caesar wrap with fries. the fries were so tasty and perfectly salted. we later got wings-habanero peach and greek. the habanero peach sauce was delightful and spicy but sweet. the only thing I didn't like was the bees that came around but we were outside and definitely can't get away from that. Came here last night for dinner and it was really delicious! I also love the new location very spacious and inviting. A wide selection of alcoholic drinks and other goodies. I had the garlic cheese breadsticks for an appetizer and steak tips with mashed potatoes. Very delicious and had a very lovely waitress. EDIT: I gave it another star because the server did remove the quesadilla. However, I think when a customer says something is gross, that should clue the server to get the manager to come speak with the customer. Additionally, it wasn't just the inch-thick melted cheese that was off; it had no chipotle flavor at all. Finding out the quesadilla was removed at the time of check is not how that should have been handled. Secondly, the owner's comment below does not address the other issues like the unseasoned clam chowder and the fact that there is no other hot sauce for her to help the chowder but mango, which would not have worked! ________________________________________________________________________ Here now. The whole "Salem experience" was underwhelming, so at the end of our day I was kind of expecting another disappointing experience. I was wrong! Our party of 5 was seated immediately, and while it wasn't the GREATEST view of the water, it was still a view of the water. 4 orders of lobster rolls and 1 order of lobster-mac-without-peas (which our server said was the most common request-- maybe someone should tell the chef??) and they were all delicious. TONS of claw meat. The fries were really nice, especially with some malt vinegar that our server happily supplied. It wasn't cheap (although I don't know going rates in the neighborhood-- maybe it was, compared to the rest?), but it was honestly my favorite part of my visit. read more

Probably a 3.5, but it gets the nudge to 4 based on the view, on the versatility, on being a little better than a typical tourist trap joint, and on having free parking around the corner. Mango Habanero Wings: Not as spicy as the menu would suggest, but crisp, juicy, tender, mostly sweet, and piping hot. I'd get these again and try others too. Burger: Shortrib/brisket blend had a premium flavor, but it was the impressive shaping, seasoning and cooking that mattered more. Beautiful crust, seasoning, and tender, juicy interior that revealed a very gentle grind and pink hue. Good feel. Brioche bun a little whitebread-like and voluminous, but not a dealbreaker. Onion Rings on the side seemed to be a ho-hum industrial frozen variety. But the burger itself was solid. Veggie Burger: My wife's order looked good. Didn't try it but I did try a few of the potato slices/chips that came with it. Not much taste. The fries were amazing and nothing like I've ever had! They were crispy but also soft. And had the perfect amount of salt. And it had the perfect view of the wharf. The home of the unique flatbread pizzas, served on long boards! Every now and then it is nice to find a restaurant on the water to sit and have a drink or two. Since they claim to have the best ocean views in the city, it seems like the place to visit, unfortunately not everything is as it seems. While the hostess station experience was a disappointing one, the view wasn't much better, unless you don't mind looking at the darkest corner of the motionless marina. On top of all that they seem to either have a minimum spend requirement or an insolent way of preserving table availability. Either way the hostess makes it rudely clear that food purchase is required to sit, your not going to get rich off of selling side salads. In fact food sales might typically account for 60 to 70 percent of gross revenue, the beverage category often accounts for 80 percent or more of gross profit dollars. They may be well known for their flatbread pizza, but if your house Caesar salad dressing cant even come out flavorful, the rest isn't worth a try. Second time here....wings are amazing!! Moist, flavorful! Firehouse burger (I love hot and spices food and can take a lot of heat!) was inedible....fully and totally inedible. Like drinking super hot hot sauce directly from the jar. Top bun was saturated with hot sauce and even removing that and trying to eat it without the bun it was inedible.
