This was another disappointing stay at a Holiday Inn Express and probably the last. After arriving at midnight I asked the front staff if there was a coffee maker in the room. He said yes. The bare "pantry" behind the counter had no bottled water so I trudged back out into the night to find a 7-11. When I finally got to my room I found that there was no coffee maker. Instead they offer weak coffee 24/7 made from a machine. The bathroom shower curtain smelled of mildew and really overwhelmed the small space with the smell. The whole vibe was Motel 6. No frills. We stayed here before... So we made a reservation in January for our son's military graduation in May. We even received 2 confirmations shortly before. After traveling all day we arrived and were told there are no rooms. Front desk said they overbooked the hotel. Whole town full of graduation parents so most places were full. Had to get a ride to the next town. Front desk not helpful: "our general manager will call you" , didn't happen. What a terrible thing to do to a family!!! read more

This was the most awful hotel experience I've ever had. Th maintenance of the building is completely in shambles. The sheets, covers, and pillow cases are never cleaned, they say you have to "request" room keeping to clean your room but when you do they don't come, and the bathrooms are awful. There are small gnats, flies, and termite looking bugs all over the bathroom. The shower was crawling with them. The towels and washcloths were even worse than regular hotel towels. I cancelled our reservation and got confirmation from a front desk representative. Nonetheless $800 charge showed up one our credit card. I then spoke to general manager Saida who said the refund would be issued. It hasn't happened. And its been a month. When I call, I cannot get anyone at the property to answer despite having called several times I emailed the only email I could find online, with attention being directed to general manager. Nothing. On the day of our reservation, we arrived from the West Coast with very tired 80 year old in-laws to be told that we had not four rooms but three. And the "manager" was unable and unwilling to do anything about it. The hotel was literally full of teenagers (hundreds) with no room despite our reservation. A we were short one room. We had a mostly good, but weird experience at this hotel. We were checked in right away and parking is free. I signed and initialed the paper listing my name and reservation and we went up to our room. Shortly after, someone OPENED our door, but thankfully it was stopped by the emergency lock. They still opened it a few inches and we were very startled. At the same time, the front desk called the room asking me to come back down because she gave me the wrong paper. She accidentally gave the random strangers checking in a little later, keys to our same room. Thankfully we had just gotten to the room, but if I would have been there alone when they opened the door I would have panicked. I signed the new paper and we went back up to the room. This time our keys didn't work.... so back down to the front desk for new ones. This was very annoying and did not make me feel very good after just getting to the hotel. However, the room was super clean and the beds were very comfortable. We slept great except for when guests used the ice machine outside our door. We were told breakfast was at 6 am, but when we got down there it said 7 am on the weekends. The front desk person must have gotten the days mixed up. We went back down at 7 am were told that breakfast was running late. We went back down at 7:30 and it still wasn't ready. The food person came over and apologized to us because they were short on food. She said she came in late and the kitchen was a mess. This also didn't make us feel good. I had coffee and a bagel and got out of there. We picked this hotel because it did have free breakfast which we thought would be early and convenient before getting on the amtrak train. Very nice hotel, convenient to DC. Stay is friendly, recently renovated and nice facilities. Some of the previous reviews were fairly negative so I was skeptical about staying here. I have not experienced anything previously mentioned and I have been at this hotel multiple times over the last year. If I have one negative thing to say and it's not a huge deal is the breakfast could be better, in one week the eggs and proteins did not change su is days in a row. Stayed here last minute on our trip down to Florida after numerous delays during the day. Not only was the hotel quiet & clean; everyone was super nice and friendly! We woke up the next morning well rested & ready to continue our journey down to Florida. Great proximity to I-95 and stores. This hotel has amazing staff and amazing service. I had reservations coming from Boston and driving down to this area. The Occasion was a long time friend birthday. . I found the staff always accommodating, and always willing to answer any questions that I can had at any time. I have included pictures of the room and at the plaza across the way. My parents stayed at this location for 2 days at Christmas. They had to move rooms because the 1st supposed "accessible" room wasn't. The 2nd room was as far down a hallway as possible. WHEN will hotel chains learn what accessibility entails? NO step-in bathtubs. Room for wheelchairs or walkers around beds, desks and furniture. Rooms closer to elevators. Bathroom space for wheelchairs and walkers. Aside from the lousy accessibility, the breakfasts were abysmal. Disgusting eggs. Nearly all the food looked old, nothing fresh. Dry pastry. My parents have stayed here for a number of years, but this is the last. The service and food have really seen an unfortunate decline. They will be trying the Marriott nearby instead. read more

We had an amazing experience with phenomenal customer service. We drove 14 hours from south Florida with reservations at another hotel. We were tired and turned away from the previous hotel due to overbooking issue. We stumbled upon Holiday Inn express and can say nothing but great things about our experience. From the start, the evening desk attendant Aaron was understanding, accommodating and pleasant given our frustration with the previous hotel. He got us checked in quickly and his demeanor really turned our sour situation into a great overall stay. The hotel was very clean with comfortable rooms . This hotel came in handy. It was right off the highway so that was great. My husband and I were having such a terrible day so we needed to rest and take a load off. Arriving the hotel was clean and smelled great. Our room was neat and also smelled good. The AC was on when we got into our room which was so good because it was hot outside and our AC in the car was not working too well. Breakfast was good. Best thing was when we checked in the front desk lady was so nice and so helpful. Also she had us laughing so hard. I believe her name was Aisha. Room was clean & spacious. Nice contemporary/traditional decor. Bed was extra comfy. Weekend rate was less than $100 per night, including taxes & fees. Awesome rate for a such a nice hotel. The staff was extremely friendly & welcoming. The bartender (Alicia) was cool & down to earth...and her drinks were nice & potent. My friends & I enjoyed our meals as well. The penne with vodka sauce was delish! The only downside is that the bar closes early on weekends (btwn 9pm & 10pm depending on how well business is going). Made reservations months in advance for a Marine Corps reunion based on hotel amenities. Arrived to find hotel under renovation- no notice. Restaurant and bar closed, breakfast "buffet" poorly done and understaffed. Second day, most of the guests were locked out - waited 20 minutes for desk clerk to return. No apology - told guest after guest they must have put key next to cell phone. Made me two new keys - only one worked. Maid failed to replace in-room amenities (shampoo, coffee and related items.) I stayed here 10+ days while doing some business for the military. The Good: The front desk was always helpful, especially Debee, who is hands down the friendliest hotel employee I've met in my life. There are no vending machines, but the lobby has a small snack room that you can pick from, and either pay or charge to your room (more selection than vending machines). There's a bar open in the evenings, and breakfast is a sit-down with menu type of breakfast. The rooms are very clean, and very nice. The bad: Breakfast wait-staff is sometimes a bit slow, so find a waiter to let them know you're there when you sit. The bar isn't cheap (5.25 for a corona w/ lime). The fitness room isn't anything special (I guess normal for a hotel). The TV always goes to the menu, and mine error'd on me a few times (turning it off/on worked). The random: IHop (24-hr), Subway sandwiches, a barbershop, and a dry cleaners are right across the street. The hotel gets a lot of military traffic, so don't be surprised by people in uniforms. The streets can be hard to navigate if you miss your turn and aren't familiar with the area. I liked my stay here, and would recommend it. My biggest gripe was the breakfast timeliness, but it was very easily mitigated by telling the waiter/busser that you were there. Everything else was worry-free. read more

Highly disappointed with this location. With the recent weather storm, my children and I checked into the hotel due to power outage. My stay was from Friday thru Sunday. Upon check I noticed that my charges total to $1005 instead of $344. Huge mistake. Going back and forth with the manager and front desk to reconcile the overcharge issue...its now day four and still waiting for all my funds to be release back to me. I keep being told its my bank that has to resolve the problem. The damn problem is with the staff who felt like my card was a personal ATM...charges and amounts that were never supposed to have been on my card to begin with. The holiday inn it's self is ok. Look for the Quantico Bar and grill review before you eat there... Rooms appeared neat and clean, front desk staff was nice, but they must have given me the Flintstone room, because the bed and pillows were made out of Granite!! This hotel failed to meet my expectations. Multiple out of service signs in the lobby. The manager would not allow anybody to bring any alcoholic in the lobby or around the pool. She was extremely rude also. I uploaded a picture of the chair that was in the room. The camera could not completely capture how gross, cracked and discolored it was. I have stayed in the Comfort Inn across the street as well as the Days Inn and the Holiday Inn is identical to each one. The only difference is that you have to pay for continental breakfast. I can understand paying for breakfast at a nice hotel with a real kitchen but all hotels like this have the same breakfast that you make yourself. Eggs, waffle maker, etc. So I essentially paid more for a room only to have to eat breakfast elsewhere, because lets face it, if I have to pay for breakfast it might as well be at a restaurant. Also, bar closes at 10. Other than that it is your typical hotel. read more

First they screwed up my reservation so they charged me a full night's stay for the night before I actually showed up. I think they pulled a scam on me as a military member to get some extra cash. The best part was my plane was delayed the night before and there was a huge traffic mess so I still wouldn't have made it that night anyway The next morning I waited for 20 minutes to eat breakfast and never saw a staff member. Every table had dirty dishes on it but no wait staff could be found. The rooms are spacious and clean but it is obvious this hotel is mismanaged. I travel frequently and after this I'll never stay at a Holiday Inn again. I am currently looking for a new hotel to move to that can treat their customers with a minimal level of service. read more

I was a bit surprised how great the food is here at a very reasonable price. I've personally met the management here and their hospitality is heart warming. This hotel is amazing and I wish I could rate more than 5 stars! I had a dreadful experience at a precious hotel and was forced to check in at 3 am to the holiday Inn. When I arrived, the front desk host was so welcoming and worked with me to give me a good rate for the time I would be there. The hotel was extremely clean and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The beds were so comfortable and guest services were truly top notch. I had a few odd condiment requests at late hours and the front desk still pulled through to ensure I was comfortable. Regardless of the time you're going in and out- there was always someone there to greet you! This was such a great stay and I would wholeheartedly recommend this place. This hotel is clean and very nice. However, after a long and tiring situation with money being taken out of not one but two accounts for the same room is why I'm rating it so low. Long story short I visited my boyfriend getting deployed, his card was on the account for our 4- night stay. I had to check in for us as I had arrived earlier than him. I used my card and was told it'd be charged and immediately refunded $30.00 for an authorization fee, which was correct. However, the next day my boyfriend and I were both charged over $100 each which the hotel manager could not explain what for. Then she proceeded to say it would be fixed within a few days and no other charges would be placed on either of our cards. The next two days we both got charged yet again, this time over $300. Everyday we went to the front desk to figure out what exactly was going on and was told the same as the last day, that they are "holds" on our accounts and would be handled. The night before we checked out the manager let us know the charges would probably be refunded in a day and that after we check out no more charges would be placed on our cards. The day we checked out after landing home from our plane ride, we both again were charged on our debit cards. My boyfriend had called the manager to speak about the situation and was told the manager was in a meeting and asked the front desk clerk to call back, however when I called and asked for the manager she was available. Obviously, this issue was not important enough to the manager to call my boyfriend back and be handled. I spoke to the supervisor and she could not let me know why we were charged for the amounts placed on our cards. The only answers we got was that they accidentally re-charged the amounts instead of reimbursing them. I let them know how inconvenient this was because our accounts were extremely low and we had bills to pay. They acknowledged how inconvenient it is and how sorry they were but they did not accommodate at all. Very dissatisfied with the unclear knowledge about the amounts being charged to our accounts and why. Had I not called to clarify and make sure our money came back to us this issue would still be going on. I expected this to be solved the first night we came to the hotel manager but it continued everyday even when I was told it would be handled. I won't be staying here again. It was a hassle not spending time with a loved one being soon deployed and being more worried about my funds and if I would have a late fee for my bills that are due. This hotel is the worst. They double charged me then would not give me a recipe and could not tell me what the second charge was for. I called several times and nobody ever knew what the second charge was. They told me to file a complaint with my credit card company and I'm still battling this with them and it's been since December 2016. The always tell me to speak to the general manager but they are never they. When she is there they connect me to her line and she never answers. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Called corporate to complain and they said they can't see the charge so they have to get the information from the actual hotel smh. Which is hard to do considering the general manager don't do her job seems like ever!!!! I'm furious and frustrated. Might have to take this to a lawyer and sew. Yes it's a big deal they charged me two separate $500 fees and can't tell me why. WORST HOTEL EVER. After my recent stay there i contracted SCABIES. Started out with two "bites" that eventually spread up and down both legs. Diagnosed and treated by my PCP. After calling and complaining and speaking to their manager, Angela, I was told nothing could be done since I could not "prove it". But second, if you absolutely have to ensure you read through every single line on the internet ... and fish through and read deep the "Best Price Available" selection...it's a scam. Pre-paid rate which is not the best price is a scam. Once you click the button you cannot undo the action. Even if you make a mistake, this business will not entertain a reasonable resolution. I get it about "read the fine print and all..." you're probably saying. But the set up is amazingly tricky and unassuming. BTW, that rate is only available every once in a while. It's obvious that the tactic is a revenue gaining scam. Believe me they got $1777.46 from me and I cancelled the reservation in a reasonable amount of time (5 days). I posted this hotel on The Knot for my son's out of state wedding. One of our guests had to cancel their room. Holiday Inn would not reimburse them! I have never heard of this! They cancelled 2 months before the wedding! I am removing this hotel from The Knot and verbally telling ALL my guest to find another hotel to use. Hotel itself is fine. Typical of a Holiday Inn and conveniently located near the USMC base, which I travel to often. First few stays were enjoyable. BUT I will never reserve a room with them again, only walk in and pay cash if they have openings. The reservation system (as mentioned by another reviewer) does not allow for any changes to a reservation, no matter how far in advance you try to change it. Twice I have been charged for nights that I was unable to stay, in spite of letting them know over a week in advance. The first time I played phone tag with the manger for a week before being told they wouldn't refund anything. Months later I had forgotten about that experience and made the mistake of reserving a "pre-paid" room again (this is the only kind of reservation they offer online). This is just awful business to me. It would be fine to charge a rescheduling or cancellation fee, but to charge the entire amount and then still be able to sell the room to another guest is a rip-off. I made a reservation at the Hampton for less money and they are much more flexible. read more
