I'm so glad that I took a risk to book at this location on homeaway.com! It was perfect in so many ways! Only a few people were on the beach on a given day, a grocery store is right down the street, and you can BBQ your food by the grills, all without paying the high fees that stereotype Honolulu. Sunsets on the balcony are superb. We even saw whales, dolphins, and sea turtles. In fact, if you snorkel in the water as much as me, you will likely see plenty of sea turtles and fish. The apartment came furnished, with wi-fi, TV, and a full kitchen (with amenities). The only reason why I cannot give this place 5 stars is that when we stayed, the waves crashed so hard that they made it hard to sleep. The windows facing the ocean did not seal out the sound. No, it wasn't a peaceful sound- more like continuous tsunami's rolling in (the area is enclosed and it amplifies the sound). All in all, the one downfall was worth overlooking for a great experience.

I really wanted to swim with a turtle but there was none. So Quin took us somewhere else so I Keoni and I could find one. I liked the jumping off the boat contest. My grandma liked so much she is going again.

The crew were very knowledgeable about the different sea life (such as dolphins and whales) that tend to appear. The boat ride itself is a bit rocky and it can be very easy to get seasick. However, there are lots of places to sit and lay down, and the crew provides free food + unlimited non-alcoholic drinks for all passengers! On the day I went, I got a buttered biscuit and some fruit for breakfast, and a pesto sandwich for lunch. Near the end of the boat ride, passengers are able to jump into the water and are provided flotation devices. I thought it was pretty cool that you can jump directly off the boat! (The crew cares about your safety and will brief you on water safety before you get into the water). All in all, the view of the ocean is super pretty and I was able to see dolphins multiple times on this trip! I'd recommend local residents and tourists to take a trip out into the water like this at least once in your life.

As long as I call ahead of time for any item I need they place it to the side so it will be there when I come to purchase the object. Re-squaring and spacing the hangers and getting in the way while we were actively trying to look through the shirts for a family member who was visiting from the mainland. She acted like we were a bother when we were trying to look through the shirts. She even rudely asked do you even know where that is (Mākaha/Wai'anae/Ma'ili/Nanakuli)? We left without buying anything. Told her - Yes, auntie of course, we live right up the road. SMH - customer service fail. It's sad because uncle Derrick had a really nice place; my daughters used to get all their supplies here for surfing and bodyboarding, they did jr lifeguards every year, various meets, the Grom, etc. I also asked some friends about our recent experiences there and several of them said that they have had similar experiences there recently. She talks down to people and acts like customers are an inconvenience. I think this auntie is probably his family member since he doesn't seem to be able to correct her, it's at least the third or fourth time she's been rude and dismissive to us. This is the third strike. Who knows, maybe she just doesn't like the way we look!?! The last time we told uncle Derrick about the way she talked to us before we left, it doesn't seem to have made an impact. We probably won't be back again.
