I can usually surmise the evolution of the wine between fruit, acidity, and ph, when it comes together but I wonder if some love the thick tannic coating on their teeth? - I've sold and seen many (mostly traveling business people) drink very tannic wine down and ask for another bottle. Maybe it's an acquired taste like Islay Scotch Lol Laphroaig akin to burning tires. There was a creative dish at each winery. They were mostly in the same walking area except MacLaren was a short drive away and worth it. Steve the owner, a Scot is a gregarious hilarious brilliant man. He picks his grapes early to avoid raisin flavors, and get a more dynamic spectrum of flavors. His Syrahs remind me of the great Syrahs in the world. Think of the Rhône Valley in France - way more dynamic than so many over ripe sometimes over extracted Syrahs here and in Australia. Having wonderful complexity similar to Penfold's Grange ($550) in Australia the best of the best with a delightfully engaging personality. MacLaren $32- $52 range is most likely undervalued now. Stone Edge Farm - I Loved all of their wines!! Check them out - good ripe dark berry fruit, balanced, medium tannins, lush and velvet mouth feel. Eighth Street Wineries is a Treat for a wide selection of wines many unavailable for retail, enough food to keep you going. Talked to a lot of very cool people I could hang out with.

Situated in a warehouse setting, these unique wineries welcomed visitors with open arms and generously poured their tasty wines for us to try. Enkidu, Talisman, Ty Caton, and MacRostie wines really stood out for me. All the winemakers strive to promote the best quality, and their passion shows. It was well-organized and the endless bites were succulent. I haven't attended an Open House due to something called "Life"; however, I do hope to get back into tastings next year in February. I like to support local artisan wines - highly recommended!
