Good and fast but confusing at first. We were sent to fill out a form and realized it was not for the bento box we wanted. Cashier and order Girl was not very friendly nor informative Rice could be hotter, brown rice good but extra up charge Salad dressing was watered down I don't know what flavor it was Tempura is thick and greasy, health regret here You order then sit and they call your number They will tip after taxes which is more than 9% so be careful when you check out

Was so yummy. It has a clean, comfortable environment. The cashier was friendly and helpful. Rose green tea was phenomenal. I recommend.

    1/2 & 1/2 rice/tortilla chips, scallops, yellowtail...original spicy & Hawaiian sauces

We wanted something quick for lunch and decided on poke. Got to build my bowl and was not disappointed. The gal at the register answered my questions (what was in which sauce) & was friendly as well. Portion was pretty large that I took about 1/2 of mine bowl home. I would definitely return if I was in the area.

Great place for lunch! They give you the option to order online and they always have your order ready ahead of time. The ambiance is quiet, I believe most people order take-out. A great variety of sushi, bento boxes, rice bowls, poke bowls, and boba tea! Pricing is very reasonable!

Very tasty! For about $20 you get a flavorful healthy bowl with custom ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and I would definitely go again. It's nice to eat takeout by the pond across the bridge.

Quick pick up. Delicious cold bowl! Ordered on line and poof...it's ready & waiting for you!

Salmon and yellowtail poke with hawaiian sauce. All the fixins

Salmon and yellowtail poke with hawaiian sauce on a bed of sushi rice and lettuce. All the fixings, order thru a sheet and a pet, very easy to choose the items you like in your poke bowl. Order came out fast and easy, lots of additional Toppings to pick from, or pick them all! Only thing is fish/protein was on the smaller side, but the additions made up for it in volume

Stopped by for a quick meal to go, and was not disappointed! Poke bowl with tones of ingredients and toppings, and mock chicken (double helping!). And a veggie tempura sushi roll on the side. It was a lot - half the poke bowl was lunch the next day! Always quick, polite service and great food, will be back!

You get half the protein compared to other poke places but lots of toppings without extra charges. Underwhelmed by the poke bowl. The small amount of fish with questionable quality is the reason for this review. The salmon didn't look or taste like salmon. It seems like some other fish dyed orange with no flavor at all. The mixed greens is actually chopped lettuce and while I got wasabi sauce, there wasn't even a hint of wasabi flavor. Everything was just bland. Service was also less than desirable. Many people that ordered after me got served and the staff came off unfriendly.

Chaotic interior of Aloh-o at Northgate.

Getting straight to the point, the food was both just okay and terrible. We placed a to-go order from Aloh-o's Northgate location. The online ordering part went well and was easy to use and the food was nearly ready when we arrived. This was our first time ordering online from Aloh-o, first time having their food actually. They're located in the shopping plaza near Safeway in Terra Linda. When you walk in the door, you're bombarded by a dark, chaotic and messy interior. The whole back section of the restaurant, where I assume you could sit during non-COVID times, was blocked off and full of supplies and random trash looking bags. It wasn't all that pleasant of a place to wait for your order so we waited outside until it was ready. From the items we ordered, only the vegan avocado/cucumber sushi rolls were tolerable. Even those had issues like completely falling apart as you picked them up. What was intolerable was the vegetable tempura. Absolutely the worst I've ever had. So greasy, so very soggy in heavy grease it was uneatable. The menu listed it as "veggie" but what we received was deep-fried sweet potato slices, dripping in grease. Total waste of money. The whole meal was off-putting and left an actual bad taste in our mouths. We were initially excited to find another local place that had a few vegan options but there's no chance we'd go back for another round after this experience.

2.5 STARS kuma cafe…read moreis a small cafe serving quick bites and boba, conveniently located in downtown san rafael. even though it's in downtown san rafael, i've never had trouble finding street parking nearby. since you order on a tablet, there's not usually anyone behind the counter until the food comes out. it seems like there's only one person working, so it can sometimes take a bit for things to come out. i usually order online for a quicker pickup, although it's slightly more expensive. there are a few tables inside, but it's really a to-go place. - egg sandwich w/ salad (2.5/5): i love japanese egg sandwiches, so i really wanted to try this! the sandwich had a good kewpie mayo flavor, and it was slightly sweet. i enjoyed the flavor, but the sandwich was too wet and messy to eat. some of the mayo was dripping out of the sides. there were also small bits of tobiko and cabbage. it wasn't a big sandwich for the price, but it did come with a salad that was topped with a good sweet and creamy dressing - spicy tuna sandwich w/ chips (1/5): literally like canned tuna with some spicy seasoning, although it wasn't super spicy. it also had some thick slices of cucumber and red onion. the chips were kind of stale, and they tasted like they were supposed to be ruffles or lays salted chips. this was pretty disappointing, and i'm not sure why it cost that much - poke (2.5/5): pretty standard, and an okay portion for price. they offered all of the basic ingredients and different kinds of fish. my bowl didn't have a lot of fish in it, but they did give me a lot of tamago (sweet egg), which made up for the lack of protein. i ordered the soy house sauce, but it reminded me more of a bright ponzu. honestly, the ingredients didn't really taste the freshest, but i thought it was fine and the best food i tried here - jasmine rose milk tea (1.5/5): strong rose flavor! it was still pretty sweet at 50% sugar, and it got overwhelmingly sweet by the end. i usually finish drinks, even if i don't like them, but it was hard to finish - sando brown sugar milk tea (4/5): my favorite milky drink i tried! it had a pretty good black tea and chocolate malt flavor. i really liked the crunchy texture of the malt topping, although i think it could've used a little less malt and more drink. i thought this was very unique! - lychee dragon fruit (4/5): like a light lemonade! i didn't really taste the lychee. the dragon fruit flavor was subtle, but it was definitely there, especially at the end with all the dragon fruit bits. it came with lychee jelly, which made the drink pretty sweet - fizzy yuzu (4/5): literally a yuzu soda, which was tart and citrusy. it was a little too sour for me at first, but the yuzu flavor was great. i actually really liked the kiwi popping boba, which added some sweetness to the drink and curbed the tartness. the kiwi popping boba did taste like kiwi, and it was so unique! - momo peach iced matcha [seasonal] (1/5): the worst drink i tried... there was so much peach jam that it tasted super sweet, and the jam didn't even have a strong peach flavor. the amount of jam also made the drink extremely goopy, even after mixing, and i couldn't taste the matcha at all. i didn't finish this drink the boba here was inconsistent - sometimes it was soft and chewy, and other times, it was on the hard end. for the drinks that came with a topping, they didn't let me sub out the topping with something else. i would've had to pay for an additional topping in order to change it. overall, i'm not really a big fan of kuma cafe, but there aren't that many options in san rafael. compared to oddcha, i think kuma cafe offers more unique asian flavors, like dragon fruit or yuzu. when i'm working near downtown, i'll still stop by to get my boba fix but will head somewhere else for lunch.

The lady working there (an older woman) was just the sweetest. She greeted us with a big smile, welcomed us in, and even thanked us for stopping by. It really made the visit feel extra personal. We tried a few drinks: the Mango Fresh Milk with boba was light, refreshing, and not overly sweet which is perfect for a hot day. The Iced Matcha with boba was smooth and flavorful; I loved that it actually tasted like real matcha. I did ask for less ice, which oddly came with an extra 85 cent charge, but honestly, it was still worth it. My daughter got the Kuma Blue Cloud Raspberry, which was creamy, fun looking, and caffeine free! It's definitely a nice spot to grab a good drink and relax for a bit. The only downside is that they don't have a public restroom, which was a little inconvenient. Still, we'll definitely be back for more drinks and that friendly service!

The inside was clean but dated, Upon Entry I was immediately seated, The hostess was very was nice and was able to answer my questions on the menu. Ordered the dinner portion of the Chicken Katsu with rice and macaroni salad, Egg Rolls, and the Fried Gyoza. The Gyoza's came out first, These were really good as they weren't deep fried but pan fried with slightly crispy bottom with chewy top. The sauce that they give you with the Gyoza's went well along with the green onions. The Egg Roles came out next, They were good as well and freshly fried. The sweat and sour sauce went well with the rolls, wasn't too sweet but had a bit of spice as well. The Chicken Katsu plate we next, the Katsu was freshly fried which perfect as it keeps the breading from getting hard or to crunchy and the chicken juicy. The Katsu sauce went well with the chicken rice and macaroni salad as well. Overall I enjoyed my experience and will come back to try other items on the menu in the future. A bit of advice, parking is tough in downtown San Rafael, If you go during prime dining hours expect to have to look for parking if you're driving.

Otherwise the food here isn't particularly interesting, and wouldn't have been worth writing about except that on a recent and particularly cold, wet evening I ordered a bowl of my ultimate comfort food, clam chowder. What arrived was such a major departure from the expected I had nowhere else to air the case, so now here we are. What arrived at the table was essentially a kind of thickened clam broth. Not flour & water library paste thick. but with the right pasta would have been an ersatz linguine alle vongole (less actual clams). Or adding potatoes would make it the soup of the day which I've been noticing more often on menus is termed "potato chowder". (about this last I'd like to take issue: how can a thickened potato soup rightly be called a chowder given that in traditional chowder recipes the essential ingredient is in fact potatoes (no? ask google). I figure to a marketing kind of mind calling this bland goo a chowder lends a certain cachet that mere "soup" lacks, for whatever that'$ worth) Where was I? oh yeah, i should add that neither potatoes nor pasta were in this clam soup, but to avoid a claim that the order didn't meet the "clam" description, it did include clams. However the clams were all in shell, half-open and floating or submerged in the broth. Not what I expected and definitely messy to fish them out. And of course, it's a chowder so where were the potatoes? But the clams were fresh and with enough sourdough to add the necessary carb load I decided on this cold wet night not to make an issue of this. So if you didn't complain, well you must have had no complaint... except I did. The bowl of clam chowder I was served looked nothing like the customer photo posted somewhere on your yelp page. I'll just stay with salads.
