My boyfriend and I were visiting this shopping center, which is already extremely difficult to park in because there are very limited spaces. We noticed one open spot directly in front of this salon. The only thing in the space was a "wet floor" sign, with absolutely no employee or customer anywhere around it. Because there was no indication that the space was reserved, I got out of my car to move the sign. Immediately, a woman from the salon and a man who appeared to be the owner or manager came outside and told us the space was for employees only. I asked where this was posted because there was no sign anywhere stating that the space was employee-only. Their response was that it was "in their contract." That is not a reasonable way to communicate parking restrictions to customers or people using a public shopping center. If a parking space is reserved for employees, there should be an actual visible sign stating that -- not a random wet-floor sign placed in a parking space. What happened next was completely unacceptable. Instead of simply explaining the situation and asking us to move, the woman became extremely hostile and began calling me "stupid" and using multiple other insults and profanity toward me. The interaction escalated entirely unnecessarily over a single parking space. She then threatened to call the police while continuing to behave aggressively. I understand that businesses can have designated employee parking, but there is a professional way to communicate that. Calling someone names, swearing at them, and becoming confrontational over a parking space is not it. Based on this experience, I would absolutely not feel comfortable giving this business my money. If this is how they treat people who aren't even customers yet, I can only imagine how they treat customers when something actually goes wrong. Do yourself a favor and take your business somewhere that knows how to communicate with people respectfully.
