Where do I even begin? Marie is an absolute DREAM to work with and I'm beyond happy that my wedding day began with her. I had my preview session in December of last year and I wanted something natural looking and she achieved that no problem. She was so fun to talk to during the two hours that it took to do the preview session that I was really excited to see her again on my wedding day. Where do I even begin with reviewing Marie? First off, I think I found her work when I was going down an instagram rabbit hole trying to find a HMUA for my wedding. She had great reviews and seem to be the vibe I was going for. I specifically wanted someone who was comfortable and great at doing makeup on an Asian/Filipina face. I had her do my hair and make up for my engagement photo session and then another makeup trial 2 months before the wedding. Marie was so patient throughout this whole process and really helped refine my look to what I wanted - very natural glam. We were looking to do a mini civil ceremony, and I am beyond grateful that I found Marie. Our budget was low, so I was really looking for bridal hair and makeup only. Since I had no budget for a trial session, I was also worried I would end up not liking the style of the artist I chose. When Marie stepped in on the day of our ceremony, there was something about her professionalism and confidence that completely eased my mind. Very disappointed with the customer service.. I used Marie's email form two weeks before my planned work event (11/18). Three days later she replied (11/21) with pricing and I replied to her 2 days later (11/23) (her email states availability is secured for 48 hour period) confirming I wanted to book with her and asking how I could send a deposit. A week goes by, and on 11/30 I follow up asking if she had the chance to read my email from 11/23. I also left a voicemail on her phone asking where we were at at 5pm cali time. On 12/1 at noon she replied to my email saying it must have gone to her junk and she's booked out. She supplied me with a few artists who are also all booked out. I'm just disappointed now that it's a day before my event and likely will not be able to get my makeup done professionally. I had a great experience working with Marie and her team for our wedding for my hair and make-up. I first met Marie at our hair/make-up trial session which I used for my engagement photo shoot. Personally, I've always had poor experiences getting my make-up done by someone else, but Marie has the expertise and experience working with Asian faces/eyes and helped me look and feel beautiful both on my trial day and on the wedding day. Marie is not only an incredibly talented and skilled makeup artist, but she's also a really awesome person! After my makeup trial at her place, I discovered my car wouldn't start. Instead of leaving me to fend for myself, Marie invited me in while I waited for the tow truck, offered to drive me to grab dinner, tried to help diagnose my car problem, and stayed with me until AAA showed up at nearly 10PM (all on a work night). She didn't have to do any of that, but I was truly grateful for her kindness. With minimal direction (i'm pretty indecisive), Marie was able to transform my normally drab hair and makeupless face into a work of art that I'm still surprised I could look like that. Since I don't normally wear a lot of makeup, I didn't want the overdone, caked on look, but I also wanted to look special for my wedding. The makeup job she did perfectly accentuated my features and her updo style was so well placed, that I probably could've done a Crossfit workout and still had my hair stay. She did a great job doing my makeup for the makeup trial! It looked amazing however she failed to follow through with her contract. After signing a contract and feeling relieved to have booked a vendor over 5 months in advance for my wedding, almost 3 months later she emails me saying that she can no longer fulfill her contract as she had an amazing opportunity come up for her to travel for. I am sure any bride would be as shocked as I was that she would back out of her contract over a job that came up later and that was better. This caused a lot of stress with finding a new vendor and while she did an amazing job with the makeup her lack of professionalism shows that she can not be trusted to follow through with a commitment. I hired Marie to do hair and makeup for 9 women, including myself, for my wedding. She also did a trial run with me, taking many pictures, and talking about what I wanted, but she was also great taking an idea like "romantic" and running with it. She'll make you look and feel like a million bucks Timing: she is fast. I had 7 bridesmaids, my mom, and my MIL (10 services total including myself) and my ceremony started at 12:00pm sharp. Other artists around the area quoted me with a start time of 12am, 2am - Marie and her assistant started on my group at 5am. They were on time, organized, and efficient! We still had plenty of time to spare for group pics, a first prayer w/ the groom, breathing time, etc. Skill: THE BEST. She uses quality products and her eye for blending colors is amazing. She matched my skin tone perfectly, along with everyone else in my party. We looked flawless. She is a magician with that airbrush of hers! She is a fantastic hair artist as well. My hair is long/sleek and doesn't hold curls well - after my trial, my hair stayed put ALL day and I even slept in it to make sure and was able to wear it to work that next day! On the day of, she made me look even better than I had remembered from the trial. Hair/Makeup lasted the entire day throughout all the tears, dancing, running around, etc. She is great with direction and tweaking things here and there (for me it was eyeliner thickness, brow intensity, and my hair poof height) to make sure you feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful. Note: Marie can work on any face, but I was also looking for someone who can work with asian eyes specifically. I don't know how she did it, but all of the shadow blending on my lid looked great and you could even see it with my eyes open! This is a big deal! If you don't feel like reading the entire review then just read this: I am obsessed. As a bride who was organizing her wedding from across the country (in NY) - I was really nervous about choosing a hair/makeup artist because I knew I wouldn't have the time to have a trial session done. I wrote e-mails and contacted at least 20 makeup and hair artists for pricing, photo samples, and general communication - it was REALLY important to me that the company/stylist I went with made me feel really comfortable and answered my 329320831 questions with patience and kindness. You can't imagine how many of these stylists answer in a way that makes you feel like they are forced to answer your questions, but wish they didn't have to. As an excited bride (and a perfectionist) - that's the last thing you want at before even signing a contract! Marie was given as a recommendation from a friend/wedding planner -- the first thing was that she responds to EVERY e-mail with a smile and REALLY quickly (which I loved.) I immediately felt safe and comfortable and knew she would take care of my bridesmaids and my mom - who I was really worried about and wanted to make sure she felt amazing on my wedding day. I had questions from being in other bridal parties about her methods and she was really patient and answered all of my questions through the months professionally and kindly - I was so appreciative of that =) On the wedding day, her and her assistant arrived promptly in the morning and immediately went about setting up their tools. Everything went smoothly - the timeline was longer than we allotted, I would say about 1.5 hour per bridesmaids rather than the 1 hour on the schedule and 2 hours is suffice for the bride. I also had some last minute "hair only" additions of close friends, who Marie was really flexible with adding in! My hair and makeup - was SO on point... I can't even begin to gush. I still didn't really have a great idea of what I wanted on the day of the wedding, and after looking at my dress together - we decided on a bun with texture. I was really worried about having "prom hair" on my wedding day - I wanted to look natural -- she did exactly that. For my makeup, I sent a few photos in advance but after seeing her sample photos in the beginning - I really didn't have a worry about that at all :) I would say that the only one con I had about the experience was her assistant... she wasn't really friendly and didn't say much the entire morning -- also the curls that she was doing on my bridesmaids all fell out while the ones for my bridesmaids who were worked on by Marie were perfect. So not sure what the difference there was, but my bridesmaids didn't seem bothered by it other than their curls falling out - just something I noticed! Would highly recommend Marie - I was SO SO SO picky about each and every vendor. I wanted high end work and skill and Marie completely delivered on that. I couldn't have been happier. You know... you spend all this money on a videographer and photographer but if at the end of the day you don't like your hair/makeup, the money you spent on that goes to waste because you hate the way you look. I feel awful that it's taken me so long to write this review...especially since Marie is AMAZING and SO freaking talented!! She did my hair for my rehearsal dinner then did my hair/makeup (with assistant) as well as my bridal party for my wedding. I couldn't decide on how to do my hair and basically changed my mind the day before (from half-up to all-down) and she created the perfect hairstyle for me. I am in LOVE with Marie. She is professional, funny, punctual, and most important of all, an absolute perfectionist when it comes to her area of expertise: makeup! I always turn to Marie to do my makeup for any special occasions (weddings, birthdays, showers, fun night out, and the list goes on), and she never fails to amaze me every single time. She did my engagement shoot, my korean ceremony makeup and my wedding day makeup...I'm particular on my makeup because I feel as though my face can't handle too much makeup, but she did exactly how I envisioned my "look" with little example and direction. I have also been a bridesmaid several times and have always been unsatisfied with the professional makeup look. I guess you can say that I am very, very picky when it comes to my makeup! Marie Tran is a makeup goddess. Before her, I had a trial with a 15 year experience MUA in Temecula and was left absolutely disappointed as it was worse than my own personal makeup application. I personally love bolder looks and once I saw Marie's gorgeous purple hair and her vibrant Instagram, I knew she was the one. She gave me the most romantic updo that was perfect for my venue and the flawless pop of color makeup style I was looking for. To quote my dad "I didn't know you could look more beautiful than you already do" lol. I had her do both my mom and mother in law hair and makeup too and it was gorgeous. Both my mom and I have oily skin and her airbrush makeup and the updo lasted from morning till night and I was definitely hitting the dance floor hard :) She also provides groom touchup and hairstyling too and my gave my husband on fleek eyebrows on the wedding day. Marie is wonderful. She was referred to me by a friend when I was looking for someone to do my hair and makeup for my wedding and I couldn't have been happier. I don't wear very much make-up to begin with so I wanted to look natural and not be caked up with heavy duty foundation and concealer. Marie did just that. It was so light and I definately felt like myself. I didn't even need to do much retouching except for my lipstick. I prefer to wear my hair down because of the shape of my face. But with the type of wedding dress I got, I need to have an up-do. I showed her several pictures of how I wanted my hair do look like and she replicated it perfectly.
