Over $40,000 of belongings were COMPLETELY destroyed this unit due to their negligence and poor management. They have repeatedly ignored our attempts to rectify this situation. Also- BUYER BEWARE their "insurance" does NOT cover vermin. The longer version: Moving to Tampa from out of state in May 2018, we were in need of a storage unit until we obtained permanent housing, and unfortunately we chose this location. After packing our 10'x15'x8' unit to the brim, we returned after about a month to find it INFESTED with roaches and it showed evidence of rats via droppings, urine, and tattered clothes. After MONTHS of trying to reach management to address this issue, we had the pest control we use for our home to come to the unit. They found evidence of 2 types of roaches and informed us Uhaul had put rat traps inside the unit- drawing the rats inside instead of away. When we told Uhaul of our findings they met us to take pictures of the damage. We have on video the employee admitting THEY KNEW their units were INFESTED with multiple types of vermin for months due to a specific incidence several months prior, and THEY CONTINUED RENTING ANYWAY. After reaching out to the regional VP of Uhaul, a new rep from Uhaul was assigned to our case around October 2018. She contacted a cleaning crew who had to wear masks and gloves because dealing with rat urine can infect people with a deadly virus. We had over 2000 pictures of destroyed items- including ALL the yearbooks and school certificates & diplomas for everyone in my family. Since documenting the loss of over $40,000 in property loss, their mediator at their insurance company, the rep assigned from Uhaul, and the manager of the 56th St. location have yet to reimburse us for our loss. We have a letter from them claiming fault. After multiple letters, emails, phone calls and other attempts at contact, we have been brushed aside at every point. Our lawyer said due to Florida law, Uhaul is obligated to return our claim with either acceptance or denial of responsibility. They are even avoiding this. In the pics, you will see the dead rat left next to our belongings inside our unit. Then the image of our 10x15x8 filled as much as possible- including furniture, clothes, keepsakes, housewares, luggage, the family crib, many other items with significant sentimental value. Then you see the cleaning crew with the masks on and gloves. The rat trap(s) inside the unit. Only a few items highlighted in a circle were able to be salvaged with expensive refinishing processes (the chest) and a couple of other boxes- here you will also see the pictures of individual items being taken.

It's a large, newer facility near Ikea & just off the Leroy Selman Expressway (& an easy drive from North Tampa & Pasco County). I would rate this facility 5 stars except for the following factors: all phone calls get routed to a national call center. It's a pain in the butt if your goal is to simply speak w/ Ryan & his employee. Also, while cleaning out half of my non-climate control unit, I noticed several rat droppings before noticing that the plastic around some of my decorator pillows had been chewed open. (Thankfully, my pillows are fine.) I realize my unit is outside, but I would expect regular pest control to dissuade rodents from entering the units. (Nope) Service here could not be better. Ryan, the Richard Pryor of storage, has always been extremely friendly, respectful, helpful, & professional. Today he volunteered to cut my padlock off my unit after I misplaced the key-- @ no charge. Back in March he cleaned the outside of the unit immediately after I told him it could use a touch-up. And the fact that he remembered me from 7 months ago is impressive. Just a super friendly guy who goes out of his way to provide excellent service! Prices here were cheaper than other facilities I considered-- I REALLY spent considerable time comparing prices. I received my first month of storage free, & I pay $58 monthly (automatically withdrawn from my bank account). However, the current monthly prices are LOWER and the first month's rent is one cent. Travel to & fro is easy due to the large facility being snuggled up against the Leroy Selman Expressway. I get in & out easily & without much contact w/ traffic of any kind. Climate-controlled, non-climate controlled, & vehicle/boat/commercial truck parking & storage are available. You'll receive a monthly invoice via email & have access to your account online. I am very happy w/ my decision to rent here.

I've been renting a unit from them since August 2020 and "YES" they do have you sign a contract. The rate increases that I have had over the last 29 months has been a total ripoff. I am paying more now then a person would if he or she would come in and rent a new unit the same size as mind. When confronting the management concerning the outrageous rate increase over the 29 month period I was told to simply "move out the unit and go get a family members to sign for a new unit." The management will lie and say its every 8 to 14 months but the increases are computer generated every 5 to 6 months. They get you by advertising the low rental unit prices. Then you are hit with those outrageous rate increases. That's where they make their money.
