We rented a small pod to have our personal things transported from Hot Springs Arkansas to Florida. 1700.00 for the smallest pod. Then on top of that a159.00 delivery charge to take the pod. Then arrives in Florida. 65.95 month. One month there. Then have delivered to our place middle of month, with another delivery fee of 159.00. And no prorated discount for having it delivered in the middle of the month. So they definitely do not want to please the customer. It's ridiculous what these companies can get away with. Rip off. Long story short: This location is INFESTED with Brown Roaches, German Roaches, and rats- and they will KNOWINGLY rent you a unit in such condition. Over $40,000 of belongings were COMPLETELY destroyed this unit due to their negligence and poor management. They have repeatedly ignored our attempts to rectify this situation. Also- BUYER BEWARE their "insurance" does NOT cover vermin. The longer version: Moving to Tampa from out of state in May 2018, we were in need of a storage unit until we obtained permanent housing, and unfortunately we chose this location. After packing our 10'x15'x8' unit to the brim, we returned after about a month to find it INFESTED with roaches and it showed evidence of rats via droppings, urine, and tattered clothes. After MONTHS of trying to reach management to address this issue, we had the pest control we use for our home to come to the unit. They found evidence of 2 types of roaches and informed us Uhaul had put rat traps inside the unit- drawing the rats inside instead of away. When we told Uhaul of our findings they met us to take pictures of the damage. We have on video the employee admitting THEY KNEW their units were INFESTED with multiple types of vermin for months due to a specific incidence several months prior, and THEY CONTINUED RENTING ANYWAY. After reaching out to the regional VP of Uhaul, a new rep from Uhaul was assigned to our case around October 2018. She contacted a cleaning crew who had to wear masks and gloves because dealing with rat urine can infect people with a deadly virus. We had over 2000 pictures of destroyed items- including ALL the yearbooks and school certificates & diplomas for everyone in my family. Since documenting the loss of over $40,000 in property loss, their mediator at their insurance company, the rep assigned from Uhaul, and the manager of the 56th St. location have yet to reimburse us for our loss. We have a letter from them claiming fault. After multiple letters, emails, phone calls and other attempts at contact, we have been brushed aside at every point. Our lawyer said due to Florida law, Uhaul is obligated to return our claim with either acceptance or denial of responsibility. They are even avoiding this. In the pics, you will see the dead rat left next to our belongings inside our unit. Then the image of our 10x15x8 filled as much as possible- including furniture, clothes, keepsakes, housewares, luggage, the family crib, many other items with significant sentimental value. Then you see the cleaning crew with the masks on and gloves. The rat trap(s) inside the unit. Only a few items highlighted in a circle were able to be salvaged with expensive refinishing processes (the chest) and a couple of other boxes- here you will also see the pictures of individual items being taken. read more

This place has awful customer services. Employee think that customer are begging for a favor or whatever! I don't recommend this place.

This has been a first with Uhaul, because I used them all the time & I've never had such a terrible experience anywhere else but here. First I was charged in error for a free storage unit, which they processed a refund the same day, but we all know the money comes out of the bank way faster than it gets put back, so it took about 3 to 4 days to receive that money back into my account. When their erroneous charge caused my account to over draft, the Manager Stephanie, not only refused to refund the overdraft fees, she calmly told me that it was not her fault I didn't have funds on my account, and refused to take responsibility for their error. Told me to call NFCU that they were easy to get OD fees reversed, which goes to show how often they do this to other customers. So even though it was their mistake that caused my account to OD, not only did she flat out refused to correct the situation, she was rude and insulting. I placed a formal complaint with Uhaul Corporate, only to find out that they assigned HER the complaint about herself to resolve. So needless to say I never got a call back to let me know how the issue was addressed and resolved because she made sure to report back to uhaul that the issue had already been resolved. No wonder despite of all the poor reviews they have about how rude Stephanie and her employees are to customers, they have no reason to correct their behavior because she sweeps it under the rug. I had Uhaul reopen my complaint again today, but I made sure that it would be sent to someone over her position so hopefully they will address their poor customer service behavior.. Aside from the poor customer service, the storage unit was filthy, full of rat traps, and rat poison everywhere, to the point that we almost did not even leave our things there, however, we were pressed for time since my son had to report back for duty at MacDill AFB and could not make arrangements elsewhere. To enhance our already awful experience, after only one week in storage, our things were full of spiders. Save your time and money and go elsewhere. read more

By far the slowest U-Haul I have ever been to. Employees ignore you. Then allow other costumers to go ahead of you because they don't want to fill your propane.. if you are going he to buy propane DONT! Go to suburban propane. Fast and better costumer service. read more

I'm so impressed the employees can be as happy as they are. The self check-in did not work for us. Great idea, horribly executed. The system at the store was so slow. We arrived at 9:30 but did not get our cargo van till 10:30. Gave 2 stars because the van itself was ok and the service they provide is a needed service. read more

I love U-Haul and use them a couple times a month , every month. I have rented probably 30 pieces of equipment total. All equipment is excellent and a great value. That is except this time at this specific location. I rented a tow dolly as I have many times before. This dolly clearly had a bent wheel and was the most dangerous thing I have ever towed. Anything over 45mph felt like it was going to take my vehicle off the road. When everyone on the highway is going at least 60mph and I am doing 45 it is a clear safety hazard. But things happen in life, I get it. I made the most of it and when I returned my equipment I kindly asked for a store credit I can use for my next rental.They declined and said I must have caused the damage to the equipment. They claim the only way the trailer can vibrate is by me speeding or not using the correct ball. I could not travel at highway speeds and I am using their recommended ball from their store. The only process they had for checking the equipment for damage was, I kid you not, kicking the tires and calling it good. A bent wheel can be just a few THOUSANDTHS of an inch off and they claim they can judge that by giving it a look and kick. I asked for my receipt back and left the location. I will certainly use U-Haul again. But I will never come back to this location. read more

So i only come here to get my propane bottles filled but its much better than swapping them or filling at the propane store. The price is fair, they do a good job filling the bottle full, you get what you pay for, and you pay out at the pump! highly recommend it read more

I called to ask a question about equipment turn in and when the employee answered the phone and I began asking my question, about halfway through my sentence, she transferred me to someone else without saying a word. It's fine if she transferred me to the correct department but at least have the common courtesy of waiting for me to finish talking. The next employee was helpful. I can't stand horrible customer service. There's plenty of storage/moving companies to choose from so I'll easily take my business elsewhere. read more

This by far has been the absolute worst experience I've had dealing with U-Haul. I came to this location during Hurricane Irma to take advantage of the free unit space they were offering for the storm. I ended up receiving an offer elsewhere with larger storage options. I contacted the location within the same day to cancel my account, knowing after the first 30 days were up, I'd have to start paying. No answer. I called back the second week to cancel, no answer. Every time I've contacted this location, I get sent to their call center who have no ability to make changes to customer accounts. They sent messages to both the store and manager about contacting me and no answer. It is now week 4, my "due date" was yesterday and they still have not reached out. I've contacted 7 times on the month of September and no answer. Please do not do service with this location because you will have no luck getting anywhere with them not get into contact with the location itself, ever. read more

I recently started having trouble with my right turn signal blowing fuses. After hours of working to find the solution and replacing the Flasher and several fuses, I decided to check the towing package U-Haul installed. Sure enough, there was the turn signal wire going to my right rear turn signal pinched between the towing bar and the car frame. I went in to U-Haul to get them to make the repair and they wanted to charge me to repair their defective installation. So, after hours of sweating profusely finding and replacing the Flasher ($15) and buying new fuses ($10) these people think I should pay them to fix their mistake.
