There's also a small public square with some benches outside that will absolutely be useful for busy summer nights. My recommendation is to grab an ice cream sandwich bar from one of the freezers where you line up to order - great textures, fresh flavours, and lots of fun. Easy to split with a loved one! Prices are a bit high, but Moo Shu sources local ingredients (with the names of local farms on the flavour signs!), and pays employees a livable wage. It's a great place to stop by and support, while trying a delicious new flavour. Their new location is absolutely a step up :)

I showed up around 9:00 on a random Tuesday and the place was impressively packed. The line was snaking out the door but it moved quickly. I've always been a huge fan of French Onion Soup, so when I saw a flavor called French Onion Scoop, I obviously had to get it. It's not good. The quality of the ice cream itself is top-notch (i.e. it's super creamy) but the flavor is just kind of gross. Plus there's a lot of sautéed onion in there and I think there's a reason onion and ice cream have never been combined before. I ate some of my cup but wound up throwing most of it away. To paraphrase Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park, Moo Shu was so preoccupied with whether or not they could make a French Onion Soup inspired ice cream flavor, they didn't stop to think if they should. (I should note I also tried a couple bites of their DunkaMoo's ice cream sandwich and it was really delicious, so obviously they are capable of making an excellent product.)

Whether it's soft serve, hand churned ice cream, or the smell of fresh waffle cones , there is a flavour for everyone at this spot along Bank Street! The Cereal Milk flavour is one of my favourite options to enjoy as it feels like breakfast with the balance of the vanilla milk base pairing well with the simple corn flakes for added texture. I cannot wait to go back in my next visit to Ottawa!

I had been meaning to try them since they opened but I wasn't quite feeling for ice cream in the Fall or Winter and then when Spring and Summer came along the lines were out the door, and you know me, I hate lines and crowds, lol. So finally on a warm but gloomy and overcast Sunday in June, I found myself in The Glebe walking by Haven's Creamery and lo and behold it was empty! So my husband and I went in for a couple of scoops of their ice cream. I was deciding between their London Fog, Passion Fruit Cheesecake and Strawberry flavours. I was offered samples of all three and I decided on the Passion Fruit Cheesecake (the London Fog flavour was too subtle for me, I was hoping for more potency. And the Strawberry while tasty was too ordinary for me, haha). My husband was much more decisive and didn't even sample anything. He got the Mint Chocolate Chip. We got our scoops in a bowl and they were $5.25 each. The Passion Fruit Cheesecake had a nice passion fruit flavour to it. Not as potent as I would have liked, but it was pronounced enough. It had pieces of cheesecake in it along with graham cracker crumb crust. It wasn't too sweet, which I appreciated. It was good. I had a taste of my husband's Mint Chocolate Chip and I really appreciated that it didn't have any artificial green colour. The mint was subtle and the chocolate chips were too large and too hard for my liking. However, he enjoyed it. Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try Haven's Creamery. I like that they have more creative flavours. The portion size was rather small, so it was a bit spendy for my wallet, so I won't be a regular, but definitely happy to have more ice cream options in town. Service was pleasant. There are 2 tables for 2 with chairs at the front of the store and a couple of high tables with no chairs. They sell ice cream by the pint as well. Street parking only.

After learning that the latter only accepted cash, I checked out Amore Gelato. There was a bit of a lineup, so I knew that it was a good sign. There was a mom in front of me with her kids. We had a nice chat after she specifically said to her kids that they'd get exactly one scoop of ice cream. "We can't have them go on a sugar high and crash," I said, smiling. "Exactly. I'm getting two scoops, though" she said, laughing. This joint offers options for everyone. You can get a variety of gelato flavours that are made fresh every day. Gelato has dairy in it. If you're like me and want a dairy-free option, sorbetto is a nice alternative. I had overheard the conversation between the woman behind the counter and a couple about to pay for their treats: "Is it cash only?" the woman asked. "No, that's the Crazy Moose. We accept all cards and cash," the female staffer said. One word: yes! This same female staffer helped me out with my order. I got the following sorbetto flavours in a cup: - Guava - Lychee I paid with a credit card. I also tipped, thankful that I could use plastic to pay. I thanked her and left with my frozen dessert. There were a handful of little tables with chairs inside the store, but they were all taken. Instead, I went out in the hot weather and found outdoor seating. Luckily, there is a rather large tree that provided a lot of shade. There was also a breeze, so I wasn't sweating buckets. I loved my sorbetto. The guava and lychee were reminiscent of having Vitasoy as a kid. I loved these flavours. They were captured perfectly in the sorbetto, which wasn't all that sweet. The sorbetto scoops were refreshing and enjoyable to consume on a hot July afternoon. There were pigeons that looked like they were innocently befriending me. They were actually waiting for me to make a klutzy move. If I had dropped my sorbetto, they'd feast. They never got any of mine. I finished all of it. So good! It was nice to people-watch as I had my sorbetto. If you have the time to stop and enjoy things in ByWard Market, come here for a scoop of yumminess and savour it. It's a great place. I'd return in a heartbeat. (310)

He recommended the mint chocolate, passion fruit and stracciatella. Since I was feeling something more refreshing, we had the passion fruit! It was super tasty and had the right level of tartness (not overly sweetened or artificial), and had a smooth consistency. While it was a bit pricy at $6.25 for a scoop. I'd definitely go back and try some of their other flavours since the quality was quite good
