On 2/7/24 I stopped at Aloha Gas in the old Malama Market Center. I pulled into the first pump and proceeded to fill my tank. Only wanted to put in 40.00, so at the 40.00 amount I took my finger off the gas lever. The gas didn't stop/didn't turn off.. I asked the person at the next pump if she could go get help from the cashier..The cashier came out and showed me the "trick" to turn the pumping off..Seems I needed to insert my index finger up under the top portion of the handle and pull something to get it to stop filling. Cashier then rolled her eyes like I should have known this trick! I have been getting gas there since day one! Never had to use a trick to stop the filling of my tank. (haven't been back since 2/7/24) I hadn't planned on filling my tank but didn't have a choice..also sort of made me short of funds til payday. I called the management office and spoke with Shannon who said manager was on vaca. but most certainly would call me back. I did not get a "so sorry" from gas cashier. And if pump was not in working order then it should have been "do not use" sign posted until handle could be repaired. This happened 2/7/24 at 1:44 p.m.

It had that small-town feel where you walk in and instantly feel welcomed, like you've been there before. We grabbed what we needed, but what stood out was the aloha spirit--real, not forced. The kind that reminds you why places like this matter, especially when you're out there trying to help and stay grounded at the same time. The hospitality hit different. Conversations turned into connections, and before we knew it, we were getting names of people in the area who could use a hand. That's the kind of place this is--it doesn't just serve the community, it is the community. Left with supplies, but more importantly, left with purpose and a deeper respect for the people holding it all together.

The guys behind the counter work on cars and they know cars. This matters to me, I've found whenever I go somewhere else. I've encountered employees other places that I don't think have ever even done an oil change before and that's definitely not the case with Pahoa Auto Parts. You can have conversations with them about your car and they can make good recommendations based on their experiences. This sets them apart from pretty much all other parts stores on the east side. And I've never had a problem returning parts, so long as I had a receipt and the parts weren't used.

The force of the water spray is so strong that it snapped off the Big Island Toyota license-plate holder on a black late-model Toyota 4Runner. The broken-off piece was ejected out of the wash. To be fair, I cannot say if the licence-plate holder was installed correctly. There is a warning posted regarding loose parts. I was behind the 4Runner at about 12:30 pm 7-29-2018, waiting my turn. I backed out of the line and told the cashier. I could not get my money back because I had already entered the code, but I am just so glad I did not enter the wash. The station is not responsible for damages as a standard policy. Please check for loose parts before entering the car wash.

Additionally, when I opened the container, there was an unappetizing amount of oil that had pooled to the top. I am not used to seeing olives and mushrooms mixed into chili, but these additions added some more texture to the chili. The mac salad was a big miss for me. I thought the macaroni was slightly overcooked, the salad lacked salt, and there was just too much mayo mixed in. I'm genuinely curious if I ordered all the wrong items, because other folks seem to really enjoy food from Hirano Store.
