Other companies confused me giving me a starting cost then giving me a nebulous cost of how much I'd owe depending on much room my items filled up their truck or trailer. We had a last minute move and I'm glad I went with Malama Moving. We didn't have too many items but we were going from a 3rd floor of a three-story house with very steep, tricky stairs to two story walk-up apartment, there was no way my husband and I would've been able to transport a queen bedroom set without injuries. Malama Moving responded very quickly on Yelp chat and I felt that they gave the best quote for my needs. They were also very patient with my pesky questions, addressing all my concerns along the way. Although they accept cash/check payments, they do require a credit card to hold the appt date. When I called their office to update CC info, a female member assisted me, confirming all details that came up in the Yelp chat. She was very thorough and friendly, and absolutely wonderful to speak with! On the day of, the three-man crew arrived about 10 min earlier than the scheduled time. The lead member (older gentleman) courteously introduced themselves and proceeded to visually review the details of the move. They were so well coordinated! The lead gave precise instructions to the other crew to move the items out of the house. Our items were bulky and heavy but the guys carried them out with such professionalism! No complaints, no jeering, just straight up work. I unfortunately could not accompany the move to the delivery site myself but my husband vouched for their efficiency, also evident in how the items were placed exactly how I imagined them to be with zero damage. They also helped take out some of our trash that accumulated during the move (quoted based on amount). My biggest regret is that I don't have individual names because they all deserve recognition. 100% would recommend this company. We recently moved from an apartment to a house and we hired Malama Moving. They brought 3 men and they were so careful with our furniture and dwellings. They wrapped everything to ensure its safe transport. They also reinforced our boxes we had packed with more tape to make sure it was secure. No scratches on walls like I've experienced in the past with other movers despite our narrow hallway and door entries. Our furniture was in perfect condition. I new we were in trouble we they sent out a guys to look at our stuff for the move. He look at the livingroom said ok and nothing else. So my wife set up for them to be at our house at 9am the next day, well one one guy came and that was at 230pm as call after with no answer or call from them. The guys only worked about 2 hours and left without a word. Day 2 they so up late, and start the saying we are here until it all moved. That was BS. They brought a small truck a made 2 trips and on the 2nd trip put stuff in out truck without asking. We get to our new place one guys start complaining about how have stuff is and just stood around want to watch our TV. Then he gets into with another guy and walk off the job. At 9pm, one of the guys tells my wife with me not here there done, made her sign so paperwork and when she ask for a copy told NO. As we start to check our stuff while putting it away we came across stuff they broke, and items missing. When we went to the old house to start cleaning it we found out they left the storage area and back yard. The next morning and for the next week we tried to call them no answer or return calls for a week. Then when we finally talk to someone she was nasty, and end every statement with I have to talk to a supervisor. While guess that was another for her to call and say I have to talk to the crew who move you. That was 2 weeks ago and all we got was a my guys said they did not damage anything, and you had 3 days to claim it email. When we tried to call and stated about all the phones and email we did, then it turn into my guys gave you a copy of the forms. I needed an old hot tub removed from our backyard. I had already removed the pumps and motor and cut it up into three pieces. I got quotes from six different junk removal companies and five of them all quoted around $600-$700 even though I had demo'd most of it already. All I can say is WOW!! If possible, I would give them 10 stars. It all started with a disappointing no show by one of their competitors. I call Logan at Johnny the Movers. Avery, Tillis, and DM showed up as agreed. When they arrived, they asked questions, followed Covid guidelines and expressed aloha at all times. My inter-island move was a little different as I was shipping my stuff via Kamaka Air Cargo. This presented no problem for them. They appropriately wrapped and packaged everything. Once we got to Kamaka, they helped me and the air freight company secure everything for transport. All of this was done in the heat of the day with smiles, and laugher. This company was formally known as "Johnny The Mover" and they did a great job when we moved from Date Street to Manoa. However this post is for our move from Manoa to Ewa Beach. Logan was really informative about the cost. Even though the cost was higher than some, I felt comfortable to say yes to them again because of our past experience. Three man crew. Cost $190 an hour with three hour minimum. Plus a one time fee $55. The two main guys were really nice and they quickly moved our stuff. Now this is when things turned weird. I looked out my window and saw another guy rearranging the back of the truck. He was putting something on another and couldn't reach and he stepped on a shelf that holds our cat litter box and cat supplies and the shelf broke. I waited a little to see if someone was going to say something. However no one didn't until I said something. I didn't say anything else until later. The move went quick. Some of the workers saw my weights set and opened it to see what it looked like. Without my permission but I was ok. They quickly got to the next apartment and unloaded quickly. They tried to fix the cat shelf but it didn't look good at all. The lead was about to charge me for the full amount with no offer of a discount. I had to ask for it and they only offered $40 off to a $150 shelf. A couple days later we set up one of our big TVs and found when we turned it out the picture looked shattered. Didn't get to take a picture because husband was quick to throw it out. However attaching pic of the cat shelf box. Called Malama Moving to let them know. Three stars were given because of quickness to move everything within the three hour period, but two stars taken for the two broken items and what we felt was hiding the damage. We took a chance a second time but not sure about a third. We will see.. read more
