I've been coming to this spot since I was a sophomore in high school. So delicious and authentic. The beef Malan noodle is my order every time!

I love the food here. The noodles are always cooked perfectly and the broth is so flavorful. I've only gotten take out but even then it's delicious. I always get a noodle soup but my friend always gets their tomato egg noodles and you can't go wrong with either. Their triangle noodles are the best for that amazing texture but they did stop making them. They also have side dishes like the cucumbers and the scallion pancakes that are pretty good. There's plenty of parking and the staff is friendly but it does take a while for them to prepare the food. The wait is long but the foods worth it.

Sad that they no longer have triangle noodles but the noodles itself is still good. Depending on my mood I either get (used to be triangle noodles) large round noodles or the medium flat noodles. If I want a soupy noodle it's either Malan noodle or beef noodle soup. If I want the dry then I get the brown sauce with pork. Dont forget to ask for chili oil! I've always ordered to go and it' always hits the spot. Bring back triangle noodles!!

Great simple handmade fresh noodles, been coming to this place for 20+ years. The exterior environment is yucky but the food is worth the visit.

Not fresh hand pulled noodles anymore. It's a sad day.

The Malan Noodles I've known and loved for so long is no more. I've been coming to Malan Noodles for almost 20 years. The freshly pulled triangle noodles were what always kept bringing be back. I remember when they were a cash only place and their soup was $6 a bowl. Over time, I've seen the restaurant slowly change, quality has wavered, and prices have gone up. When my friend and I went in yesterday, we were shocked to find out they no longer had triangle noodles on their menu-- one of the things that made this place so special and unique. After we ordered, we didn't hear the usual banging of dough or any sounds of noodles being pulled. When we got our food our worries we're confirmed-- they no longer make fresh noodles. The soup broth was the same but the noodles were not their usually chewy goodness. When we asked about what happened to them making fresh noodles we didn't get a straight answer. I hope that this is a temporary change but I don't think it is. This place is my favorite noodle spot, so it makes me sad that it's changed so much. If they never return to making noodles fresh to order, I will not be coming back.

Hand made noodles here! You can choose from multiple kinds of noodle sizes. The owner even made some suggestions which noodle would be best for my choice of dishes. I got the tomato and egg with medium round noodles The eggs are scrambled with chunks of red tomatoes in a light tomato base sauce. Also, the Malan beef with medium flat noodle which came with sautéed cabbage and onions. In the past, I used to get the soup, but it was too hot to order soup today. Try the triangle noodle! I forgot my daughter likes this noodle . Can't really get it anywhere else I know ....

Service was great, very attentive and food was served quickly. The food was ok, not a lot of flavor, or not as much as I expected. But I could tell the noodles were handmade and fresh.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon & it was empty. Service was super fast and they were very attentive to us. We just came for a snack and ordered their house special (aka Malan noodle) with the large flat hand pulled noodle. The broth tasted very clean and flavorful. You can tell that they cooked the soup for a long time. The noodles are perfectly chewy and they give a generous portion of noodle. Although a filling dish, you won't feel super bloated/ heavy after eating because it is such a clean broth. They also give a side of their homemade chili oil that is a great addition to the soup if you like something a little bit spicy. I will definitely be coming back to this place. For only $11 per bowl, it was definitely worth it and I recommend giving it a shot!

Look at the texture of those noodles ...

Been coming here for years since I was a child. This place has always been a family favorite. Since restaurants reopened with social distancing in mind, the restaurant does not offer indoor seating as of now, but have signs to keep 6 feet distance and masks are required upon entry of the restaurant. They have all the safety protocols posted and provided (sanitizers at the entrance and order tables) - patrons are asked to wait outside for their orders. Onto the noodz. Hand pulled noodles - and depending on the noodle dish you order, you can select the style of your noodles. I personally like the Pork Chow Mein with medium flat noodles (wide). Because the noodles are made in house and made to order, the texture of the noodles is just unbeatable. I tend to like my food more on the spicy side, so I always ask them to make my chow mein dish spicy by adding extra jalapenos. They add this into the cooking process so the jalapenos do come stir fried and not raw and I add their chili oil into the mix as well. My family tends to like to order their beef noodle soup too which is another good option to try. If you're a fan of noodles, this is definitely a good place to check out if you're in the area.

If you love chewy hand pulled noodles this place is for you! To this day, I have not found hand pulled noodles as special as this place. You can see the chef kneading, rolling, and pulling the dough in the back so you KNOW the hand pulled noodles are legit. The noodles taste fantastic and are just super chewy. I loved this place as a kid and the friends I've brought now love it too. Their Malan Beef noodle is their staple and I love the soup. It feels super homey and clean to drink. It is a bit on the lighter flavor so those who really like flavorful soup might not want this one -- get the Braised Beef noodle soup instead! As for picking noodle size - I like the medium flat over round. I just feel like there's more to eat and more flavor in a bite. If you're looking for something unique - try the large flat! Wouldn't say it's the most enjoyable to eat but it's an experience eating such a large noodle. For appetizers - their garlic cucumber is crunchy and refreshing. Their chinese scallion pancake crunchy and flavorful. I've been eating Malan Noodles ever since I was a kid and this review is 10 years too late. Wish I lived closer here now so I can eat it more!

The food here is so good, and the restraunt was cozy and the service was good too. The hot noodles were especially good on a cold and rainy day.

At first, I was a little skeptical because the inside was quite dark, and the ambiance wasn't really what I preferred. But since I was already there, I decided to give it a try. I ordered a soup-based rice noodle dish that day. It was okay, the texture was more like regular noodles and not quite like the Southeast Asian-style thin rice noodles, I was familiar with. Then last Sunday, with the weather being so hot, I started thinking maybe their dry rice noodle would be a better choice. I looked through the menu, but some of the ingredient combinations were unfamiliar to me, so I decided to play it safe and ordered the crispy pork and beef dry rice noodle. It turned out to be a good choice. The portion was generous, a big bowl that even came with two small quail eggs. And a small bowl of chicken broth on the side. $12.99 When my order was ready, I picked it up and was guided to the sauce bar, where I could customize the flavor myself with hot sauce, soy sauce, chopped green onions, cilantro, and even dry peanuts ... etc. The DIY sauce bar was a fun touch, and the dry rice noodle gave me a completely different experience from my first visit. In the end, I enjoyed my lunch and took some leftovers home.

This is a no frills hole-in-the-wall and only locals visit. The restaurant is definitely a casual location, with some cold dish items in large bowls in the glass deli counter and then there were pre-made & pre-packaged dishes such as dumplings, asian tamales and drinks in a commercial refrigerators on the side. There are only a handful of tables as the dining room isn't very big. There was a steady stream of customers for dine in and take out. This place was listed as serving Taiwanese food, but I feel like it serves more Chinese dishes than Taiwanese. They did have beef noodle soup with lean meat, tendon or lean meat & tendon. It was good but the broth was not as deeply unctuous as the Taiwan versions. I am Taiwanese and my relatives were visiting from Washington and Alabama, so I was hoping they had more Taiwanese dishes like oyster pancake, rice meat balls, squid vermicelli soup, gua boas, etc. The waitress and cooks were from China and not Taiwan. Maybe the original owners were Taiwanese...idk. The menu is extensive for such a small mom & pop type restaurant and had nice photos of some of the dishes. The menu was a lot fancier than the restaurant! We ordered beef noodle soup, bitter melon, sautéed intestines, string beans and it all tasted delicious. There was some picked mustard greens on the table for the beef noodle soup and it was the perfect add-on! We were all very satisfied.

It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. And the noodles are hefty, soft, and springy. It's a wonderful, euphoric combination of flavors and textures. Concerning ambiance, No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) is surprisingly spacious with its tall ceiling and relatively clean surroundings. However, its walls and furniture look worn down with time. Some seats even had torn holes. Unfortunately, the music uses radio with constant commercials playing in the background. Fortunately, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back.
